Amazing and challenging trek. Great organization and flexibility throughout the whole time in the mountains and before.

My colleague and I decided to take a weekend trip while in Uganda for work and we were blown away by this experience. From the very start, the customer service was incredible and everyone was very accommodating of our requests. Lake Mutanda was even more beautiful than the photos and the actual gorilla trek was outstanding. I would highly recommend.

Brilliant Africa is willing to accommodate any travel schedule – no matter how tight the timeline! When no other company was able to organize a weekend gorilla-trekking trip, Brilliant Africa was more than willing to be flexible and work with us to make our goal a reality. They delivered a top-notch trekking experience with a serene resort accommodation that made us feel as though we were in a different world. As we look back at the pictures and videos we captured, we are still pinching ourselves to convince ourselves that this beauty is real!!

Brilliant Africa made our Honeymoon experience absolutely fantastic! Marc was very helpful to work with from the start and very considerate in understanding our preferences for our trip, finding us the perfect places to stay within our budget, and answering our myriad questions in advance of travel. We really appreciated how seamlessly every detail was planned out without us having to lift a finger. While we were on our trip, Michael and Emma helped us sort out an issue with the property we were staying at and quickly moved us to another place without us having to worry about a single thing! There were thoughtful touches that the team took care of throughout - I really have never had such an easy vacation! Amazing Trip - Brilliant Uganda arranged a very good itinerary and looked after all the details. In hindsight I would recommend flying back to Entebbe from Bwindi rather than driving and giving Ishasha a miss but otherwise it was fantastic. Our guide/driver Kamye was first rate and the accommodation was generally top rate. They were helpful when our return flights were cancelled but in hindsight we made the wrong decision in cutting short our trip.

We trekked in the Ruwenzoris for 8 days and summited Peak Margherita. It was just amazing- the nature, vegetation, views, sounds (birds!), but also organization, guides and the whole staff. All were very friendly and dedicated. Also safari in the Queen Elizabeth National Parks and the Gorillas in Bwindi afterwards were just great. Again good organization, a safe driver with a lot of knowledge, competent guides in the terrain and last but not least: good lodges - some of them more than good! For us it was the first time in Uganda - but hopefully not the last! Martin & Lisa

A month before the pandemic hit, I worked with Marc to set up a two week itinerary through Ethiopia with a private guide. Marc was fantastic at taking what I said were our interests and suggesting a wonderful itinerary. We wanted to tweak a couple of things (for example, fewer flights, more land travel) and he promptly adapted the itinerary. His service was impeccable. No sooner did we have everything in place, the gravity of the pandemic became evident and we could not proceed with the trip. Throughout the pandemic we kept in touch and Marc updated us on the situation in Ethiopia. Now that things are opening up again we are working on rescheduling our trip. Although we haven't yet been able to travel, I can say the planning and communication were perfect. Brilliant Ethiopia was recommended to me by a friend who DID travel with this company and had nothing but great things to say.

Having realised that independent travel isn't really feasible in Ethiopia, 4 of us signed up for the Northern Timkat tour in January 2020 and we asked Brilliant Africa to design us a customised southern tour afterwards. The former really was brilliant. It was very full-on, but we greatly appreciated our little group of just 6 people, the variety of our excursions, our enthusiastic guide Gabrele and the excellent organisation. Particular highlights were the 2 wonderful treks, the Timkat celebrations, some fantastic lodges we stayed in, our visits to extraordinary monasteries and the boat ride on Lake Tana. Our tour of less-visited areas in the South was well planned, with some very memorable visits to tribal villages and markets plus a driver whose knowledge of local birdlife really enhanced our enjoyment. I'd wholeheartedly recommend Brilliant Africa to anyone wishing to explore this fascinating country. Members of the organisation on the ground keep a close eye on shifting political issues and we always felt very safe. For anyone with the time, I'd definitely advise them to choose both the northern and southern trips as they're so different, yet equally rewarding.

I had a wonderful 17 day trip with my daughter. We didn't think it was possible to visit 5 tribes, hit 5 cultural sites and do a 3 day trek, but thanks to the precise planning we achieved everything we wanted and more. The country i stunning but one of the big highlights was the quality of the guides used, the level of their english and how willing they were to go our of their way to make the trip a success. I have travelled to >80 countries and many custom trips and I can genuinely say that Brilliant Ethipioa are a 5star set-up. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend the team, both in UK and Ethiopia. They actually care about your trip, and all arrangements just fine, in fact went the extra mile when my plane was delayed for a domestic trip, and still were waiting at the airport in Addis some 3 hours later!

A top rated service and experience, the team even allowed me to add an extra day on to my itinerary to allow me to adapt my trip and add in Lalibela. The reliability of drivers and quality of guides was second to none.

Mark did a great job in a very short period of time understanding what kind of travellers we were, what sort of adventure we were looking for, and then pulling together a 14-day itinerary to match. The trip, who's definite highlight was the community trekking outside of Atigrad, exceeded our expectations.

I had a wonderfull experience visiting Ethiopia with Brillant Africa, so much that I went twice and thinking about doing it again ! I highly recommend it.

So, first things first: Ethiopia... is... beautiful. A definite bucket-list location. Geologically stunning; architecturally shocking; culturally rich; and, well, just a gosh-darn "must do." I would recommend it as a travel location for anybody, from first-timers to the intrepid traveler, BUT! Go sooner rather than later; I fear this will eventually become the next "Iceland travel fad;" it really is that beautiful.
Having said that, self-organizing a trip there can be a challenge; after I contacted Brilliant Ethiopia (following an online search), I felt that responsibility lift from my shoulders. If I ever book a trip to Africa again, I'm contacting them first to see if they're also working in the other countries. The bottom line w/Brilliant Ethiopia: a real person (Marc!) asks you intelligent questions about your travel HABITS (do you need luxury? are you OK roughing it? are you a confident traveler? etc...), and then probing questions about your travel DESIRES (culture? outdoors? foodie? camping? etc.). For additional context, and why I would absolutely use them again: I literally contacted them only about a week out from when I wanted to travel (from Washington, DC), and they booked EVERYTHING for me for a 10+ day trip: all airport pickups; hotels; domestic transportation (cars, planes, and boats); guides; tickets to any sites; etc. Several meals were included as well. Communication w/Brilliant Ethiopia during the planning and the execution of the trip was robust, and easy (text, e-mails, and phone calls, no owl post...). Marc called me during my trip after I mildly complained about an issue, and not only promised to quickly resolve it but I was also visited by his on-site partner to make sure everything was fixed. Simply amazing.
Go to Ethiopia, OMG it's just amazing. And use Brilliant Ethiopia to have full peace of mind. Then visit me in DC; my treat at one of the restaurants here in Little Ethiopia, and we can swap stories.

We had fabulous trip in late 2018 around some of the sites of northern Ethiopia, including Lalibella, Gondar and Aksum. Although we packed a lot in to a short period of time, it never felt like we were being rushed and there was plenty of opportunity to really explore these fascinating places and this fabulous country.

Brilliant Ethiopia were....brilliant. The tour was well organised, the guides were at all times knowledgeable and patient with us and I would recommend them without hesitation.

I had the privilege of booking my Northern Ethiopia tour through the cities of Addis Ababa, Aksum/Axum, Lalibela, and Gondar in January of 2020 (right before covid shut things down.. thank God!). The trip included everything from crawling in passageways at the rock churches, to trekking the amazing landscapes of the Simien mountains, enjoying spa resorts at Lake Tana, to simply being a tourist in new cities and engaging with locals in the area. I had an expectation of a "perfect" trip, and Brilliant did a phenomenal job of exceeding my expectations. It was spiritually fulfilling, and a balance of education, adventure, and relaxation (oh yes, and GREAT food! lol). My trip was truly an experience that is hard to put into just words. Ethiopia is a beautiful country, with lots to offer in tourism.

My trip was solo, so being able to create a customized itinerary to meet my desires & plans for travel was very important to me. Other vital factors of my trip included having a detailed itinerary, well-spoken guides (in my language, English), and a full-sense of security. I'm glad to say, with Brilliant, all of these needs were met. My booking agent was Mark, and he did an excellent job with planning out my suggestions, as well as adding places I never knew/read about. We took a day to simply talk about my interests, hobbies, and daily activities, which led to the suggestions that would make my trip the best experience possible.

Out of three providers for Ethiopia tours that I found online, I chose Brilliant Ethiopia because I was immediately addressed by a person (not an automated e-mail) after my first inquiry. They take great measures to engage in PERSONAL COMMUNICATION with their customers. Although I was in another country (United States), I was able to get immediate responses via e-mail, and more in-depth voice calls using phone and WhatsApp. I was very impressed with this, given the differences in time zones of me and my agent.

For my first trip abroad (and traveling solo), I was beyond satisfied. I will definitely be planning to book more trips with Brilliant, in the future. I encourage anyone reading this, to do the same!
