Everything I receive looked dead. The roots were dry up and brown I planted them anyway in hopes they grow but I doubt it and one bag had nothing but paper shavings. Very very disappointing will not recommend

TN Nursery is a bare-root nursery, so many of our plants arrive dormant with brown roots and little or no visible top growth. That appearance does not necessarily mean the plants are dead. Bare-root perennials can also spend their first growing season establishing underground and may not produce visible growth until the following spring.
The paper shavings are used as packing material to help protect the roots and retain moisture during shipping. If you believe a bag was actually missing the plant entirely, that would be a different issue and should be reviewed.
We appreciate you planting the roots and giving them time to establish, and we hope you'll be pleasantly surprised when they emerge.

Every shipment includes a QR code that links directly to our planting instructions and videos. The QR code explains how to plant bare-root stock, what to expect from dormant plants, and why many perennial varieties establish underground before producing top growth.
Our Deer Resistant Collection and Fire Pink Plants are bare-root perennials. It is completely normal for many of these plants not to produce visible top growth until the following spring. Judging their success only a few weeks after planting does not reflect their normal establishment cycle.
We also do not remove negative reviews from our website. Both positive and negative reviews are published.
Calling our family-owned nursery a "scam" because dormant bare-root perennials have not yet emerged is simply not an accurate representation of the products we sell or the information we provide before and after purchase.

Sent wrong bare root tree variety, won't replace
**Wrong plants, failed grafts, and an unreasonable refund process**
I placed a $427.59 order with TN Nursery on March 3, 2026, which was delivered on March 18. Among the plants I ordered were four specifically identified crepe myrtles: two Catawba and two Tonto. I selected those cultivars not only for their purple blooms, but also for their expected size and growth habits.
Because the plants arrived dormant, there was no way to verify their identity within TN Nursery’s 24-hour warranty window. Months later, all four finally bloomed—and every one of them was white. TN Nursery initially responded that it reserves the right to substitute colors. That completely misses the issue: I ordered specific named cultivars, not simply a generic flower color.
After I escalated the matter and provided photos, TN Nursery acknowledged in writing that I had received the wrong crepe myrtles. Their proposed resolution was for me to wait until fall, dig up all four established trees, clean and package them, and ship them back before they would issue a refund of roughly $60.
I also reported that both Bonanza patio peach trees failed above the graft and produced only rootstock suckers. The Bonfire peaches planted and cared for under the same conditions grew normally. I received no meaningful resolution for the Bonanza peaches.
TN Nursery first hid behind its 24-hour warranty, even though dormant plants cannot reasonably be verified for bloom color or graft survival within 24 hours. It then offered me a 10% discount on another purchase. After acknowledging that it shipped the wrong trees, it still placed the labor and burden of correcting its mistake entirely on me.
A customer should not have to excavate, clean, package, and return four planted trees months later because a nursery shipped the wrong cultivars. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend TN Nursery.

Crepe Myrtles cannot be positively identified while they are dormant, which is why identification is only possible once they bloom. As explained during our correspondence, our return policy requires incorrectly shipped plants to be returned before a refund can be issued. We cannot issue refunds while customers retain the plants. This policy is applied consistently to every customer.
Regarding the Bonanza Peach trees, grafted trees can produce rootstock suckers for a variety of reasons after planting, including weather, transplant stress, winter injury, or damage above the graft. Once a tree has been planted and growing, those factors are outside of our control.
Our 24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee covers the condition of plants upon arrival. It is not a cultivar-identification guarantee, as dormant plants cannot be identified until they leaf out or bloom.
We regret that our published policies did not meet your expectations, but we handled your concerns in accordance with those policies and also offered a goodwill discount.

Once I received my order, it was bare roots as advertised. No issues with any quality concerns with the plants. They are growing very well now that I've got them in the ground. My only issue was getting them shipped to the right address.

Trees normally produce new growth during the spring and summer growing season, although some species naturally leaf out later than others. We also recommend performing a scratch test on dormant-looking trees. If you gently scratch the bark and see green tissue underneath, the tree is alive. This is a standard horticultural practice used by nurseries and arborists.
Many of our bare-root perennial plants spend their first growing season establishing strong root systems underground, and it is common for some not to produce visible top growth until the following spring.

Many bare-root perennial plants can appear inactive above ground while establishing roots and may not produce visible growth until the following spring. If the plants truly declined within only a few days, factors such as transplant shock, planting depth, drainage, extreme temperatures, or watering conditions may also have affected establishment.

I was a bit trepidatious about ordering from a company I had never heard of before but I'm so glad I did. The plant I ordered is something I've always wanted but couldn't find locally or for a reasonable price at other online retailers.
