We're sorry you're disappointed, but please don't assume the remaining six plants have died simply because they haven't produced visible growth yet.
Many of our bare-root perennials establish at different rates. Some may produce visible growth during the first season, while others focus on developing their root systems underground and may not emerge until the following spring.
Your previous experience, where all of your Coneflowers successfully established, is wonderful to hear and demonstrates that you've had success with our bare-root plants before.
Please leave the remaining plants in the ground and give them until next spring. We hope you'll be pleasantly surprised when additional plants emerge and will consider updating your review.

I received my order eventually but it was so delayed that I was only able to revive about 3/4 of the plants I had ordered. I don't think it had anything to do with the quality but more so the shipping delay on the carrier.

Bare-root plants often look dry and dormant when they arrive, and that appearance does not mean they are dead. Depending on the variety and time of year, many bare-root perennials focus on establishing their root systems underground and may not produce visible top growth until the following spring.
Please leave them planted, keep the soil appropriately moist, and give them time to establish. Nothing happening above ground yet does not necessarily mean nothing is happening below ground.

The vine twigs I received haven't sprouted. I followed you instructions. I soaked them for 6 hours, and then planted them in a large container and have kept them moist. None of them sprouted.

We're sorry you're concerned, but please don't assume the vines are dead simply because they haven't sprouted yet.
Our vines are shipped bare-root and dormant, so they often look like small twigs when they arrive. Depending on the variety and time of year, they may spend their first growing season establishing roots underground and may not produce visible top growth until the following spring.
You did the right thing by soaking and planting them according to the instructions. Please leave them planted, keep the soil appropriately moist without waterlogging it, and give them their normal establishment period.

My order had some packets that…were empty or wet & rotten'
My order had some packets that contained NOTHING but packing material. No product at all. The other packs contained slimy rotten roots/bulbs that had been packaged wet into plastic baggies and had rotten in transit. None of the plants were viable-nothing will come up from the rotten roots, and what's with sending out empty packages? Jeez Louise the quality couldn't have been worse and they refuse to replace anything. They say too much time went by before I contacted them and yes, I was out of town the first day before getting home and opening the box. One day did not make or break this order.
This was my second non-viable shipment so it was not a random mistake. The first shipment came in plastic baggies with no names of what the plants were (you can't tell from just a root) so I had no idea how to plant any of them.

If a package truly arrives with a missing plant or with roots that are rotten and nonviable, that is exactly why we provide our 24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee. We ask customers to inspect their order promptly and report any arrival issue within that window so we can verify the condition of the plants as they were received.
In this case, you acknowledge that the order was not opened and reported within the guarantee period. Once that time has passed, we can no longer determine whether moisture, temperature, storage, or other conditions after delivery affected the contents.
Regarding identification, our shipments include a QR code that links directly to planting instructions and plant-care information, so customers can determine how each bare-root variety should be handled and planted.
We understand that being away delayed your inspection, but we apply the same published arrival policy consistently to every customer.

Because nursery inventory changes throughout the season, our published substitution policy allows us to substitute a comparable color or variety when the originally selected option is unavailable. We always try to fulfill the exact color ordered whenever inventory permits.

Will not use this company again
I ordered a fairly large order of several types of mosses. The order was delayed without much communication. I needed the mosses in a timely fashion - they did not offer to cancel or refund the money which they charged to my card within a day or two of the order. It was 3-4 weeks before I saw the mosses, which were badly torn and fragmented. The mosses arrived in poor shape and I was unable to revive more than half of them, rendering the rest unusable. I am a master gardener, so plant care is in my "wheelhouse" but these plants were substandard at best. I will not be ordering from them again. At the time of this review, I have given the mosses several months of careful tending and the results are deplorable.

We're confused by this review because TN Nursery has not sold moss in nearly a year.
If this review concerns a recent purchase, we ask that you please verify the company you ordered from. We cannot reconcile a recent complaint about a large moss order with our sales history when this is not a product we have sold for nearly a year.

Order 10 Water Lilies, get 1 Cut Into 10 Pieces
I ordered 10 water lily rhizomes 7/26. What I received was a single rhizome cut into 10 pieces, and no instructions. I called them to see WTF they sent me and the person on the phone was very flippant and got annoyed with me. I planted them the way she told me to but after 4 weeks they were just decomposing. Should have just thrown that $45 right in the pond. I have yet to find other nurseries that are selling them this way, and when asked about it they chuckle and I imagine they roll their eyes.

We're sorry you're disappointed, but we'd like to clarify how Water Lilies are propagated and shipped.
Water Lilies naturally grow from **rhizomes**, and dividing a mature rhizome into multiple viable sections is a standard horticultural propagation method—not evidence that a customer received "one plant cut into pieces." The University of Florida notes that multiple individual Water Lily propagules can be harvested from a single rhizome, and other horticultural guidance likewise recommends dividing rhizomes into sections for growing new plants.
Each viable division is capable of developing into its own Water Lily when it contains the appropriate growing point and is planted under suitable conditions.
We're sorry you felt our phone representative was dismissive. That is not the customer-service experience we want anyone to have.
However, describing properly divided Water Lily rhizomes as simply "1 cut into 10 pieces" is misleading. Rhizome division is a normal method of producing individual Water Lily plants.

Think twice about ordering from TN Nursery
I ordered two Fuyu Persimmon trees that were supposed to be shipped in 1 gal. containers (suggesting they were well rooted and grown in the containers). The good news is that the shipment arrived quickly. The bad news is that when I went to transplant the trees, it was obvious that these were bare root specimens that had absolutely no root ball on them and virtually no roots. The soil just fell away leaving the stems bare and exposed. TN Nursery claims that their plants are placed into the containers in the winter and grown with an intent to ship the following year, implying, of course, that the plants were fully rooted out in the container. These might have been acceptable if the in-soil portion of the plants was prepared for bare root shipment (wrapped in plastic with the appropriate water bearing beads) but these were obviously cut for bare root purposes (roots virtually non existent and just stuck in moistened soil moments before shipping). TN Nursery steadfastly refuses to consider the overwhelming photographic evidence contradicting their claims and continues to offer wildly implausible and outright inaccurate claims in an effort to avoid correcting their error.
This is an update following TN Nursery's response. Perhaps they genuinely believe their own hype, but, again, the photographs demonstrate that these were not rooted out. They Imply that I was careless in removing the plants and failed to follow the video instructions. I did review the planting instructions (which did not help with the situation I found). And, as stated previously, there was no root ball. The soil just fell off the plants with absolutely no adhesion as one would expect from a container grown plant.
Basically, TN Nursery's M.O. is to obfuscate, ignore, belittle the customer and repeat their story no matter how ridiculous it is. They simply refuse to accept that their employees did not follow their own procedures. They are inexorably rooted (pun intended) in their response despite the evidence to the contrary. TN nursery, in fact, has never acknowledged reviewing the photographs that I sent or engaged in any dialogue about what the photographs demonstrated.

These Fuyu Persimmons were shipped as 1-gallon potted trees, not bare-root trees that were simply placed into soil immediately before shipping.
When removing a newly established tree from a nursery container, the tree must be removed carefully so the developing root system and surrounding soil remain as intact as possible. If the tree is pulled from the container by the trunk or the soil is allowed to fall away during removal, the developing roots can be exposed and the plant can appear bare-root afterward.
This is exactly why we have a video posted on our planting-instructions page demonstrating how to properly remove our plants from their containers before planting. Following those instructions is important to prevent damage to the developing root system during transplanting.
The condition of a tree after it has been removed from its container does not establish that it was shipped bare-root or that it was placed into the pot immediately before shipment.
We stand behind how these trees were sold and shipped and strongly encourage customers to follow the planting videos and instructions provided with their plants.

I ordered 25 Ironweed plants
I ordered 25 Ironweed plants. I received a wet, soggy, rotten mess in a padded envelope. I sent pictures of the packaging and the one viable looking plant in the bunch. I also requested a full refund. I was told that I hadn’t lodged my request for a refund quickly enough. The package arrived on Friday - my day off. I lodged the complaint with photos today (Monday - next business day).
The plants are a joke. Good thing the price was low - but not low enough for the 1 plant that might survive if I’m lucky.

At checkout, customers agree to notify us within 24 hours of delivery if plants arrive dead, damaged, or in unacceptable condition. That timeframe is necessary because these are living plants, and once a package has been delivered, we have no way of knowing how it was stored or handled afterward.
In this case, the package was delivered on Friday, but the issue was not reported until Monday. With summer temperatures reaching extreme levels, we simply cannot determine whether the plants arrived in that condition or whether the package may have remained unopened or exposed to heat for several days after delivery. That is exactly why the 24-hour reporting requirement exists.
We are not saying that is what happened—we simply have no way to verify the plants' condition at delivery several days later.
We stand behind our 24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee, but we must apply the same agreed-upon requirements consistently to every customer.

Please don't trust TN Nursery
Don't trust this company. Spring 2025, I ordered a purple crepe myrtle from TN Nursery, after speaking to them via email to verify the purple color. The order arrived with a free crepe myrtle (BOGO). Neither one looked healthy but I have a green thumb and shortly, the trees started looking healthy but did not bloom last year. This summer, they bloomed PINK, not purple. I contacted the company and they basically said, "We reserve the right to substitute a color if the original is not available." I voiced my displeasure and they said the policy is listed on their WARRANTY page and since the plant looks healthy now there is nothing they can do. Not on the description page. Not on the checkout page. The WARRANTY page. People choose trees specifically and carefully and I can't imagine anyone wants a substitute with no notification of such. They did not let me know the purple was unavailable. There was no communication in the package to indicate a switch had been made, Further, there were no ID tags on the trees giving a name or color. Just trees in a plastic bag. Why would a company feel that it is okay to substitute the wrong tree? Why would they list a tree as being available if it is not? My trees will be here for years to come and I want what I ordered. If this were above-board, they would notify the customer before making a switch or at least include a notification of the switch in the shipment. At least then, I could have decided whether to plant it in the chosen spot or not. The only reason that I can think a company would do this is that they are money-hungry and will sell you the wrong merchandise just to take your payment. Shame on you TN Nursery. I hope other customers will think about this before ordering from you. I know I won't make that mistake again.

Our substitution policy exists because living nursery inventory can change throughout the growing and harvesting seasons. When a particular color or variety becomes unavailable, we reserve the right to substitute a comparable variety rather than cancel the order. This policy is part of the terms associated with the purchase.
We understand that flower color was especially important to you, and we're sorry the substitution did not meet your expectations. However, we did not intentionally misrepresent the plants or substitute them because we are "money-hungry." That accusation is simply not a fair characterization of our family-owned nursery or why substitutions occasionally occur.
You also stated that both Crepe Myrtles established successfully and are now healthy and blooming. While the color was not what you expected, the plants themselves were healthy and viable.
