I have been buying talbots clothing for over 25 years. In the last 5 years I have noticed poor quality, pilling of clothing, increased prices, clothing shrinking on 1st wash even when following all directions, etc. I have many friends who feel the same way. I wouldn't mind paying the prices if the clothes were the same quality they have always been known for.
I haven’t received my order after 10…
I haven’t received my order after 10 days since placed it as a guest . I contacted three times Talbots trying to find out about my order but every time got answer that they can not locate it by order number or my email . Meanwhile I could see the tracking through my initial order placed email sent to me at the moment of order placement . I understood that that was a common problem if you do not register and create an account with Talbots . I hope to get my order today . If it will not happen I will dispute the charge . It was annoying experience so far .
Utterly humiliating …
Wife went to buy several clothing items and the store employees decided that I’m not worthy of sitting in the waiting area placed near the changing rooms and asked me to leave. I have never felt more humiliated.

I no longer trust Talbot's women's clothing store
I have been a long term, though infrequent customer of Talbots. They recently had a 60% off their sale items. I perused their website and bought several things, which had to be split over 2 days because their website was 'spinning'. Short story long, now when I log in to view the orders (which have been delivered BTW), the 60% off items are marked "FINAL". I would NEVER order anything online that I can't see or try on, knowing I have to keep it.
I contacted Talbots on-line and chatted w someone about this and another issue (I also rec'd someone else's order in error). The agent said 'sorry' it's final. When I asked to speak with someone in management, they ultimately said someone would get back with me which hasn't happened.
I've always trusted Talbots but this makes me feel like they are not trustworthy. There is no way on God's green earth that I would buy 'final' items on-line without seeing them.
Horrible customer service/suppot
I would very much like to give less than a one star but unfortunately, I have to give one. I purchased tops for my MIL returned for size, of course they were out of the tops so I opted for a refund. They couldn’t give me a refund on my original card because it was hacked and I told them that this was my new card to please put it on there. They refused! I only got a store credit. I am furious and I can see why stores are closing. Also, my sisters sweater clearly had a defect. Guess what? can’t help with this issue either because it was outside there return policy period. She ordered 3 of the sweater in different colors, tried one on, hung them up and when she went to wear it noticed a huge whole across the top of one of the sweaters. It’s a knit sweater. The customer service is horrendous me nor my sister will be back.

Visited store in Winston Salem, NC and ended up putting back my selections because no one would wait on me. Four ladies standing around their registers doing nothing but talking. One of them was trying to get signed in to her register, one putting clothes back on hanger and another on the phone One of them looked right at me and still did not offer to wait on me. I went after work to the Tinton Falls NJ Premium outlet as I have done numerous times in the past. I went in and the store was getting rid of their winter clothing. Tons of merchandise and many conflicting signs with markdowns. I should have taken a picture of the back of the store but unfortunately did not. There were three racks and three prominent signs that said 14.99 on each rack. They did NOT say 14.99 and up. So I spent time looking, trying things on. I noticed another sign behind those racks that said markdowns for green dots, red dots and 60-70 percent off other merchandise. I get to the register and said I am not sure of the final price of the pants and other items I picked out due to the mixed up signs. She rings the pants and I’m thinking they will be 14.99 as per the sign. There were MULTIPLE pairs of pants like the ones I picked out so I know that they were NOT mistakenly put in the wrong section. When she said that they were a “special” price at 19.99 I told her about the signs and actually took her back to look. She then pointed to the dot map sign that was shoved in a corner far away from the racks and said that was the sign.
She was CLEARLY wrong and would not budge. No apology and no nothing. I told her I didn’t want to quibble over a few dollars (5 dollars difference) but I told her it’s the principle of fair marketing that mattered.
Used to be the customer is always right. Management, sales, 101. If she had been nicer or said I will check with the manager or I will see what we can do then hey I would have bought 50 dollars worth of merchandise which may not be a lot but over the next few years it would be several hundred. I walked out and she had the nerve to say so do you want to buy the other things at the register? I said no thanks.
This is poor customer service and Talbots lost a customer.
Went into Talbots for the first time…
Went into Talbots for the first time and the customer service was just so poor. Not in the slow to respond way but in their overall attitude and frankly what felt like disrespect. Why, I don't know and don't really care but judging from some of the other comments I am not alone. Be prepared before stepping through their doors!

Christina at the 696 white plains road location is awesome. I have always found Talbots to be the most difficult place for returns, but today Christina made my return and shopping experience 5 star. I can’t wait to shop the new spring arrivals and ask Christina for assistance!
Horrible horrible customer service…
Horrible horrible customer service experience with the 1-800 number. Store staff however is wonderful. My billing address in PayPal for some reason did not transfer over to the shipping address--shipping address was one I had not lived at for over 10 years. Customer Service insisted I had to wait until the item came, and was sent back before they could do anything. I said, how will I know if the item gets there if I don't live there anymore and how will the person know to send it back? They also could not change it to the correct address or cancel my order and reorder the same thing to come to my correct address. Was on hold for over 30 minutes. If you have a need, deal with your local store in the United States not the overseas hotline!!!!!

The problem with customer service over the phone for online ordering is they are bombarded with calls, and they need more help. You can hold for a long time and sometimes you can request a call back, but they do not call back
Once you get customer service on the phone, not all but most of them are nice and very helpful they just need more help.
I ordered something that was out of stock online from a Talbots store in Arizona and the store customer service Rep Sherrie was absolutely wonderful so
I can't say enough good things about the customer service and the clothing it is all good.
I just wish they had free shipping for anything over $50.00 dollars. I do not like the $8.95 shipping. It should only be if it is under $50.00 anything over $50.00 should be free shipping. Sometimes I make several purchases in one week & I end up paying $8.95 several times within one week. They offer free shipping only on orders over $150.00 dollars. That needs to change I think if you are a good customer and spend over 250.00 in one week on separate orders you should not have to pay $8.95 each time. Thank you.

Big shout out thank you to Erin at Talbots in Southern Pines NC. The sweet lady I sit with called and ordered two sweaters and Erin had them ready when I got there. Erin then hand wrote a thank you which doesn't happen much anymore. It meant so much to my friend and me! Thank you, Erin

If I could give it less than 1 star I would. The quality is horrible. It looks like something you would purchase at a $1 store. It was cheap looking and I wouldn't wear it to a dog fight. Thank God this cheap looking top was 50% office. I will feel completely comfortable throwing it in the trash. Save your money!! Buy elsewhere.

Was sent the wrong item. Went to the website to sent it back and hopefully get what I ordered. Even though I indicated that I was sent the wrong item on the return, they wanted to charge me 8.95 to sent it back. So I called the customer service line, left my number for them to call me back, no one ever called.

Placed two orders back to back. Didn’t receive confirmation emails with order numbers. Was charged for both purchases. I received nothing. Called customer service and they can’t find my orders, so they can’t refund me. Unbelievable.
Great Clothing - difficult online portal
They can make their online portal for refunds more user friendly. I am coming back to give a different rating since I was finally able to get my refund. I can not remember the exact date of when I was having an issue with online portal.

Talbot customer service has gone down hill and after spending 135$ they gv you a plastic bag and no boxes. I guess I’m at an outlet store or something.
I love Talbots but…
I love Talbots. I know it is pricey but I like the special treatment. Well, until the past two years. I shop in there frequently but lately it is like shopping at Walmart. They may or may not greet me, ask if I need help or show me new merchandise. I know they know me. I always loved how they carefully wrapped my purchased clothes. Today they just stuffed everything into a bag that was too small. Two bags would have been nice. I don’t mind paying the prices, but at least make me feel like I am important. That’s the Talbots way.
Ten Stars for Carol in the South…
Ten Stars for Carol in the South Portland, Maine shop. She exemplifies the meaning of sincerity, professionalism, and kindness in the hospitality industry. The rest of the staff, particularly the manager, are probably 2-3 stars because of their ‘you’re bothering me’ demeanor. They are generally curt, but less so when someone spends more money. That’s not a favorable position to take.
I’ve been a not-so-longtime customer of Talbots (perhaps 10 years), so I have no comparison between the old days & current times. However, having worked my entire life in hospitality forward industries, I feel I’m qualified to make this post.
Trying to use the $25.00 gift card that Talbots sent to me (along w/all its customers) was looked upon as a low class endeavor.
The clerk acted as if she were doing me a huge favor looking in the back stock room for Haven markdowns. Then another customer told me that she had overheard whispers between the clerk & the manager: “…she’s using her coupon & wants Haven…” well, that’s your job, and you begrudge this ?
Way too choosy about whom they’re ‘pleasant’ to, and whom they’re ’tolerating.’
