Living in Liberty House Wimbledon…
I’ve lived in Liberty House Wimbledon for over 10 years having moved in only a few months after the development opened. My husband and I loved our apartment the minute we saw it. Over the years we have had many issues with different Estate Managers and McCarthy Stone as managing agents which have had the capacity to make life a bit uncomfortable… We still inevitably have issues with McCarthy Stone to do with the overall finance management but at last we have an Estate Manager OJ Bamiro who is everything we could wish for. He has been in post for 3 years and has shown great perseverance in maintaining a cheerful and positive attitude. We look forward to any interaction with him and can go to him with any concerns knowing that he will deal with them.
In so many ways OJ is better than previous managers, for example he tells us in advance of when he will not be in the development, he works very long hours and has an excellent open approach to communication. Our Homeowner meetings are scheduled well in advance and posted on our notice boards with minutes of the meeting distributed within a couple of days which keeps everyone informed of any news. We now have a Liberty House newsletter with contributions encouraged from homeowners.
OJ competently manages a range of complex issues. With a development of this size, 51 apartments, there are many communal issues such as heating, hot water, cleaning etc that affect us all, including those of us who live here independently. In addition his empathetic character makes him excellent at helping those who need assistance, including the provision of care packages in some cases.

Jackie the house manager was wonderfully supportive and helpful when my father had fall, checking him over and calling the ambulance and myself. She is now providing great advice on how he has support in his apartment moving forward. A wonderful caring service which gives me reassurance that my father is safe and well looked after.

What a good move!
This month my wife and I have been renting our apartment, Brooke Dene Court Cleckheaton, for a year during which time we have made many new friends. We have also come to love the town of Cleckheaton which was previously unfamiliar to us. We felt privileged to share our diamond wedding anniversary with friends at a function, held in the residents lounge, with help from neighbours and our incredible House Manager Elaine. It was a difficult decision to sell-up and rent -- but-- what a good move!

Davison House, Nottingham.
I assisted the purchase of an apartment at the Davison House complex in Daybrook, Nottingham on behalf of my brother in law who, due to his severe eyesight issues was unable to read and complete the various legal documents required, in both the purchase and the selling of his own property.
Despite,several setbacks with selling his own property due to market conditions, we found the help and patience shown to us , especially by Toni Roberts, the McCarthy sales negotiator was vital. Toni was especially helpful, and kept us informed throughout the process.
Since moving in my brother in law has settled in very well and loves living in the complex, it has very friendly occupants, so he has plenty of good company whilst retaining his own privacy as and when needed. Also a shouout to 'Liv' who manages the complex. She is very helpful and friendly.
Please note, the date of the experience is the approximate start date which took several months to complete as explained above.

EXCELLENT HOUSE MANAGER TRINITY PLACE
Our house manager Helen Louttit-Winslade is truly excellent. She is brilliant with all residents and creates a warm, friendly community spirit. Several days a week she organises different lunch options—bacon sandwiches, soups, quiche—which brings everyone together and ensures no one feels isolated. She is always keeping an eye out for residents, reacts quickly to maintenance issues, and reports anything that needs attention without delay.
Communication is another strong point: she keeps residents fully updated on what she is working on and how she is supporting them. Her presence is active, consistent, and reassuring. She is available when needed and provides genuine support to everyone.
The building itself is lovely. The gardens are well maintained, with clean garden furniture and opportunities for residents to help with gardening if they wish. Fixtures and fittings are of a high standard, and some units have purchased lockers and/or car parking spaces. Visitor parking is easy thanks to free public parking adjacent to the building.
There is a good sized communal lounge with a kitchenette, TV, and DVD player, perfect for social gatherings. Residents have personal neck or watch alarms for emergencies, adding an extra layer of safety.
Security is strong with fob entry and CCTV at the entrance. The building is kept very clean with daily cleaners. There are two stair accesses and one elevator serving the additional two levels. A guest suite is available at a nightly rate, and Wi Fi is provided in the lounge. The décor is modern, and the building was completed 2019.
The location is excellent—buses, library, doctors, private dentist, hairdressers/barbers, Waitrose Express, Asda Express, Tesco Express, Butchers, Wendells, coffee shops, petrol stations (providing Amazon Pick Up), pubs, and churches all within walking distance. Online deliveries are simple, and we even get visits from the ice cream and fish and chip van.
Trinity Place located at Hazlemere, High Wycombe, Bucks provides a safe, secure, quiet, and friendly environment—an excellent independent living community for those over 60. It is a place where residents feel supported, connected, and proud to call home.

Eastland Grange
Eastland Grange in Hunstanton is great fun with lots of laughter rippling through the large lounge. The Estate Manger, Katie Harvey and her staff contribute to the hilarity even if they don't always get my jokes.

My mother-in-law moved in to Stour Gate in Blandford in June ‘26. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to move very quickly and Delia the house manager could not have been more helpful and flexible in helping and facilitating the move.
My mother in law is now very settled and loves the ambience of Stour Gate, she has the freedom to come and go as she pleases maintaining her total independence with the opportunity to mix whenever she wants with her like-minded neighbours. And we could not be happier that she is maintaining her independence and enjoying a wonderful quality of life in beautiful surroundings. Cherrett Court
From the moment I came into Cherrett Court, from viewing through to buying the flat, I have been made to feel very welcome by all the staff.
The staff make sure to see everyone each day and my family are please that there is someone looking out for me when they can't be here.
After cooking for myself for the last 12 years, it is such a treat to have my meals cooked for me each day and, as someone with limited mobility, the table service is a godsend.
The flat is cleaned weekly by pleasant staff and overall I am very happy to be here. Looking back, I should have moved here years ago!

My wife and I stayed in the Guest Suite…
My wife and I stayed in the Guest Suite at Bygate Monkseaton. Deryn Johnstone the house manager was very helpful regarding the area etc and was very welcoming, as all the house managers we've come across are.

Coming to the end of my first year in…
Coming to the end of my first year in Portman Court (Uckfield), I suddenly realise that I have been slow to express my full appreciation of how well this place is run and, despite having chosen it for independent living rather than for “care”, how much kindness, support and encouragement is offered by staff at every level.
Such staff cannot be easily found. All, with their varied skills and experience are obviously carefully chosen and deployed as part of a cooperative team by our remarkable Estate Manager, Julie, who clearly has ambitious objectives for all of us: for the estate, for the home owners! and, above all, for herself. The atmosphere is one of calm, unhurried comfort. Problems arise and are reliably dealt with. Little improvements, in facilities and in procedures, appear as from nowhere. And the busy staff, especially the duty managers, make efforts beyond the call of duty to encourage social life among us. All led and encouraged by the irrepressible Julie.
I chose McCarthy and Stone on the urging of my superbly efficient long-serving secretary, who retired ahead me and died only recently. I treasure her memory as much for that advice as for any of her many other talents.

It was a pleasure to read your reflections as you approach your first anniversary at the development. We’re delighted to hear how well supported and at home you have felt, and that the kindness, encouragement and practical help offered by the team have made such a positive contribution to your experience.
We were especially pleased to read your comments about Julie, the Estate Manager. Your description of the calm, welcoming atmosphere at Portman Court, along with the attention given to both homeowners and the development itself, speaks volumes about the dedication of Julie and her team. It’s wonderful to hear that the efforts of the Duty Managers and wider team help create a strong sense of community, while still respecting the independence that is so important to homeowners.
We were also touched to read your tribute to your former secretary and friend. It is clear that her advice led you to a place where you have been able to enjoy this next chapter of life with confidence and comfort, and we are honoured to have played a small part in that.

I want to thank Julie C, Manager of Portman Court for her amazing duty of care. Julie runs a very efficient team and she understands the needs of her residents. She goes the extra mile to get things done and creates a very happy and safe environment for the residents. My mother’s quality of life has definitely improved since she moved in.
