Have left this family for a while without a maiden name and husband. Hints previous came up with surnames of Stuckey, bur dismissed them at the time as it was nothing like the surname I was looking for. Another hint came up a few days ago to indicate again, but a bit different this time. Found the maiden name of Culver to the parents of children with middle names of Culver. She married a Robert James Stuckey in 1864 after his first wife died and Occupation Gentlemen. But all the childrens surnames were James, and they were all born long before they were married I found an article how when he was buried he was moved to the family plot 12 days after his first burial. It came to light after more research and after many hours that Robert was already married and had children simultaneously with his I am guessing a mistress. I just love finding things out of the ordinary.

I have found the information online has helped to consolidate and expand my ancestral line. As with a lot of online info, I have learned not to follow blindly, and to check dates and other info with other sources.

I originally joined ancestry when researching my Mauritian heritage.
Happily I have connected with many cousins, both on Australia and Mauritius.
Surprisingly I have also found 4 paternal half siblings that I never knew existed, all of whom were looking for their fathers or possible siblings. I have also found 2 half nephews who unfortunately don't know who their father is so that is 2 more half siblings our there.

Where do I start !! I completed a DNA test first and discovered who my grandfather was on my paternal side which was a huge discovery. My father was adopted and kept that a secret so completing my tree has been a revelation. On my mothers side we have discovered that my grandfather was born to his sister and raised by the parents so that also a closet discovery. What a pity they are all deceased as I would love to have a discussion with all of them. Growing my tree has been an exceptional experience by finding out where families lived in the UK and moved to New Zealand, Australia and USA to make new lives. I have researched Cornwall UK, where my maternal family came from and love identifying villages and history of the family. Over the last 2-3 years I have spent thousands of hours on my tree and now I'm concentrating on fixing mistakes.

Was able to find family that I did not know about which was so great

Through DNA, I discovered who my Great Grandfather was and, most likely, my Grandfather. I have uncovered a whole quarter of my ancestry through DNA. My Dad always wanted to know, but, unfortunately, wasn't here to see. I have also been able to confirm many doubtful ancestors with DNA which is also amazing.

I find Ancestry easy to use. The range of information available is amazing. I like the look and layout of the family trees. In general I find the hints useful. However, sometimes they are way of the mark. Ancestry DNA is very helpful in adding information to trees. However, I think the Traits feature is am unnecessary gimic. It is easy to export trees to your own computer. Some things that could be improved are as follows. If you say no to a potential ancestor the same person can reappear multiple times. It would be useful to be able to merge family trees. There needs to be better checking of the accuracy of the transcipts of records. In particular for parish records, census records and electoral rolls.

Ancestry is a tremendous resource in helping build and research your family history

I tried to modify my membership but website didn’t work.Phoned Ancestry and call taker cancelled my membership and told me to take out the modified membership when the other expired .I wanted a transfer from Worldwide to the UK plus but not a new membership.

I paid for the DNA kit only. I received the results & 3 of my siblings were identified. In a matter weeks 1 has had his initials changed to ? Somebody else's initials. Plus 1 brothers initials were blocked by some strangers photo. This really hurt as this brother has recently died. Their response was it could only have been altered by owner (myself) or someone I have consented to making the changes).
I have phoned ancestry 4 time in 30minutes with 3 asking me to hold while they investigate & then just disconnect.
One lady took details & put my on hold for about 7 minutes, then disconnected. I don't care what other people think it I think ancestry is a scam. Their customer support is pathetic. They make it extremely difficult to contact them. The phone number on their website is no longer in use. The same number is provided when you chat with their AI! Bot- whatever it is.

A fantastic research facility thanks to incredible work by researchers, data entry staff and members.

Being charged for membership before trial period was over twice and receiving 2 NSF fees from my bank was ridiculous. They offer absolutely no refund for any reason and I am disabled. A week of grocery funds down the drain.

i love ancestry. it's my go to for all my ancestry online. I've spend thousands having the all accessbut. my budget accomodates that but like i said i have a real problem with the layout of hints now. i'd like to see the accepted hints at the top and souce not under the name but the souce title, i.e. North Yorkshire, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1940 not Martin Calvert if that makes sense?!

I was able to use Ancestry along with DNA to find my mums grandfathers birth parents. This helped solve a mystery and clarify where we come from.

I texted with "Leaf" and I received a few starting ideas where to look.
So far I was mesmerized by how I found out so much info from my father's decendants. It goes way back to 1400 -1500. I feel real good about knowing who I belong with and as if I knew all along. Just a load of history records from France to first settlers sent to La Nouvelle France, knowned to day as Quebec.

Whilst it is great to have ancestry asking for feedback, their survey should have included questions asking for suggestions and recommendations to improve the ancestry capacity even more.
Update.
After submitting the above reply to the Ancestry feedback survey, I received a positive response from Ancestry asking for my suggestions. Unfortunately the mechanism for doing this has not been developed by Ancestry. So I am just doing it here on Trustpilot. Who knows what will happen next?
So, 1st thing is I think that Ancestry needs to develop a better method of obtaining feedback by developing a more sophisticated survey. There are some very good apps and websites that specifically do this that they could use, such as Survey Monkey. By doing so Ancestry could develop a more sophiticated range of questions with different ways that people can respond. Very importantly, such a feedback survey could have a section that asks for suggestions, ideas and recommendations for Ancestry to further improve the Ancestry website.
I will leave my own ideas for how Ancestry could be even better until such a survey is developed as this is all too clunky and unsatisfactory.
