Just too many incessant emails. I purchased a DNA test, the cost of that shouldn't include dealing with multiple emails a day trying to sell me extra services. It feels like there's no way to limit the volume of emails - either you take them all, or you don'rt even get notified about your test results.

By going to your account settings and selecting "Email Settings," you can toggle off marketing and promotional content while keeping your "Account and DNA Notifications" active. This ensures you still receive the crucial update when your results are ready without the extra sales messages.
Your feedback regarding the "all or nothing" feel of our notifications is very helpful, and we will share this with our product team as we work to make our settings more intuitive. Restarting after a few years absence
I have just picked up my investigations and look forward to exploring the vast collections of Ancestry. The reason I stopped for a while is that Ancestry failed to get the most recent census records.

4 months and nothing
4 months after sending in my DNA sample all they can come up with again is my grandmother, the very person that I grew up with.

Very suspicious 5 star reviews after a deluge of recent negative reviews makes me conclude this is a bit of a sham company.
I paid for the express/priority results package that said you should receive your results in around 4 weeks. 1 month passes and I get an email saying “we received your sample and you should get your results in 4 weeks”….. great…. Then another month later an email stating “we are processing your results and it should be back in yep you bet ya 4 weeks”….. A total of 3 months passes and I get an email stating we can’t process your results. I laughed out loud. So much for paying for an express service. A new kit is sent out which took 2 weeks to arrive, then when I send it off again another 2 weeks later I get an email to say they’ve received it.
It’s pretty clear that they do not have the resources to process samples in a timely manner and send strung out automated emails to make you feel like something is happening. The express service is a scam and it’s apparent that they get inundated and use delaying tactics to push your sample down the line. I’m very disappointed with the service and found the whole process a joke.
Many other reviewers have said the same thing lowering their star rating but low and beyond suddenly loads of 1 sentence 5 star reviews from profiles have started to appear over the past month or so. Interesting….
Apparently another 4 weeks to get my results. Love to see what their excuse is going to be next. Will start setting up treads on Reddit discussing this if this continues.

My first DNA sample wasn't successful
My first DNA submission wasn't successful (DNA couldn't be extracted) which is odd. I had to submit a 2nd sample (the 2nd kit was free). Other than that hiccup the process is smooth with updates.

As a company, we want to provide results that are accurate and thus while we understand it can be disheartening when a sample fails to return results, providing a product that is up to standard is essential. We would not be fulfilling our promise to provide quality results if we allowed a test that did not pass our quality assurance measures to be posted online as we would risk providing inaccurate results.
The most common causes of sample failure are food contamination, insufficient amount of saliva or insufficient cells in the sample provided. Please be advised that some members have difficulty producing enough DNA in their saliva sample which can cause samples to fail. We are glad to hear that the process is going smooth since you received the replacement kit. We hope this attempt is successful and you receive your results very soon. Remember you can keep an eye on the progress of your sample from within your account. From the date a sample is marked as 'received', you can expect your results within 6-8 weeks.
