I am writing a review regarding our recent stay at Bodelwyddan Castle Warner Leisure Hotel from 10-12 September 2026.
We booked one of the best suites available, as we were only staying for two nights and wanted to make the most of our short break. Our room was Suite 615 in Williams Village. On first entering the suite, we were impressed. However, on closer inspection it became apparent that the accommodation fell well below the standard we would expect from Warner Hotels, particularly given the price we paid.
The bathroom had clearly not been cleaned to an acceptable standard. The underside of the bath taps and shower fittings were visibly dirty, and the carpets throughout the suite were grubby and stained in several places. The green Chesterfield sofa was also stained, which significantly detracted from what should have been a premium room.
Later that evening, I attempted to close the bedroom curtains, only for the curtain rail and fittings to come away from the wall completely. As the window is extremely high, it was impossible for me to repair it safely. By this time it was late in the evening and there were no maintenance staff available, so I planned to report it first thing the following morning.
During the night, my wife went into the bathroom and, upon switching on the light, discovered a number of black beetles/insects. On further inspection, we realised they were not confined to the bathroom but were present throughout the suite, including on the carpets and walls.
At approximately 8:00 am on 11 September, we reported both the fallen curtain rail and the insect infestation to reception. We were assured that a member of the maintenance team would attend and assess the room. We then went out for the day expecting the issues to be addressed.
When we returned at around 4:30 pm, no one had visited the room and the insect problem remained exactly as before. We returned to reception to ask why nothing had been done. We were told the reception staff were unaware of the issues we had reported and that the maintenance team had already left for the day. We were offered no practical solution, no alternative accommodation and no attempt was made to rectify the situation.
The second night was equally disappointing. Because the curtains could not be closed, daylight woke us at around 4:00 am. Even more distressing was discovering that the beetles had made their way into our bed.
The following morning, I reported all of these issues again. The receptionist apologised and advised me to submit a formal complaint by email.
Our stay cost £780.01, and whilst we cannot fault either the food or the entertainment, the condition of the accommodation completely overshadowed and ruined what should have been an enjoyable break.
This was our third stay at Bodelwyddan Castle, and we have never experienced anything like this before. We specifically chose to book one of the highest-grade rooms because we expected a premium experience. Unfortunately, the standard of cleanliness, the maintenance issues, the insect infestation and the failure to respond after our concerns were reported meant that this expectation was not met.

I had been given the key card and had set up in my allocated room, only to find out that reception issued the same key card to 2 other guests. Huge admin security breach in my opinion and I have been given no satisfactory answer as to how this happened. This also happened at the same time when at another chain of hotels (not Warners), a serious security breach occurred where someone was put in danger duecto the same thing happening. I wrongly thought Warners would take my concerns more seriously than a £40 voucher which I declined.

After a catalogue of disasters at Warner’s Cricket St Thomas celebrating my birthday in June,
I feel fully justified in writing a bad review.
In December 2025 we booked a break for my birthday for the 26-29th June 2026 at Cricket St Thomas, booking a Signature room, Courtyard area, double, ground floor, walk in shower, lift access (due to my mobility issues) and an early check-in to make the most of our stay.
Two days before our stay, we received a phone call saying that our room would not be available so offered us an upgrade to an historic room in Cricket House, but it didn’t have a walk-in shower. As a gesture for inconvenience, they offered £25 off our account which we accepted.
On arrival at reception at 11:45, reception gave us the key & went to the main house & I politely asked a staff member where the lift was, to which they replied,” There isn’t a lift, it’s a grade two listed building, you just have to use the stairs”! Wow! How rude. I slowly climbed the stairs, realising that this would not be possible all weekend.
When we got to the top of the stairs, room 309 was at the end of a narrow corridor, covered in dust sheets, a ladder propped against the door & a man working on the wall, creating a health & safety hazard.
At reception I explained that the room would not be suitable as there was no lift so could we have another one like the one we had booked & paid for 7 months earlier. She explained that being fully booked they did not have any spare rooms, but after some time she found one that had become available (not sure how or why). The newly allocated room was situated in the walled garden, the furthest part of the hotel & on the first floor but there was a lift.
We arrived at room 521 only to discover that it wasn’t a signature room at all, which I had booked, but a standard room! The room itself was not as clean as I would have expected.
I phoned reception & spoke to the Manager. He listened to my complaint, making the right condescending platitudes to try and appease me & offered to get a fridge, signature snack pack & robes sent to our room that afternoon, which we agreed to, although we were still terribly upset about the whole situation at this point.
By the time we went to dinner at 6pm our ‘Signature’ package still hadn’t arrived so we told the manager that nothing had materialised so he said he would ‘sort it’.
When we arrived at Treetops restaurant, our table had been allocated to someone else, so eventually they found us table 90 by a window where that the sun was shining through the glass, there was no window blind so it was like sitting in a greenhouse, which didn’t make for a leisurely dining experience as we just wanted to get away from the searing sun.
After the evening entertainment, back in our room was the tiniest fridge imaginable, about 12” square with the four signature cans inside with no room for anything else, and two packets of crisps & no bath robes, which didn’t materialise the whole weekend,
The next day there was an issue with our card when we ordered a drink and a light lunch on the terrace bar at the main house, coming up as invalid (even though it had worked the night before in the theatre!). The Manager of the Terrace bar came out and after some time sorted it out with reception.
On the Monday when we came to check out our account was incorrect. There was no sign of the £25 promised for the initial change of room. Although this was rectified, the bill was still incorrect as there was an entry for drinks in the Treetops, made at 7.15pm when we were having dinner and only had water with our meals.
It has taken two weeks to receive any response from Warner hotels regarding my complaint & offered a derisory £50 in compensation, basically the price difference between a Signature and standard of rooms, but nothing for a spoilt weekend.
Would we recommend Warner hotel at Cricket St Thomas? Absolutely NOT!!

Worst customer service I've ever encountered.
They do not look after disabled people well. They will charge you £25 for wanting to book a room next to your loved ones when you need to be there to support them.
Their disabled parking spaces at Littlecote are not right. They do not give you space either side of the car to be able to get people in who have mobility issues making them useless for certain disabilities.
For a holiday company that appears to provide a luxury experience, it definitely doesn't feel like this. They didn't care that my father had trouble walking when we asked to move to a closer table for breakfast and dinner.
They overcharged me and I had to fight to get the money back. If you have a complaint, they will not care. Honestly the most uncaring customer service department. They should be ashamed of how they treat their customers.
Also to add that some of the facilities at Littlecote like the table tennis is up a large set of stairs making it unusable to my father which was very disappointing. To be honest, when I went to look at it myself the games facilities were awful. Old and tired equipment. Not what you expect from a luxury break

Warners Studley Castle is an extremely well appointed and quietly situated hotel. The 'hotel' area that was added to the 'castle' is well laid out, attractively decorated and air conditioned. We stayed in a Studley room which was absolutely fine.
The food, however, was not to our liking. Both breakfast and dinner is serve-yourself, canteen style. The only exception is the starter at dinner, which is waitress served. For E verything else you have to join the queues! The food quality offered by the buffet was, at best, indifferent, sometimes verging on the very poor. To be fair, there is another restaurant venue at Studley Castle, namely Brasserie 32, which does offer table service. However, when we tried to book there during our break, we were told that there was no availability for five days! We were on a three day break. So, a lesson learned. Reserve your table in Brasserie 32 when you first book your break if your wish is for a traditional restaurant experience.
Evening entertainment is presented within the main, self- service, restaurant. You are assigned a dining table, as per usual when you enter the dining area for the first time, for the duration of your break. This system works very well, as long as you’re happy with your assigned table - which we were.
The entertainment, with the exception of Saturday evening, was all very average. The highlight was Paul da Vinci and his group of musicians. The act was outstandingly good. This made up for the lacklustre resident Warner theatre company band. Sunday evening was billed as 'Everlasting Lionel' (Richie). Although he had a good voice, he was accompanied only by pre-recorded backing tracks. This significantly detracted from the performance, which included a great deal of chat. The dance floor remained 99% empty. It wasn’t until 10 minutes from the end of his set did he decide to include 'All Night Long' and 'Dancing on the Ceiling' whereupon the dance floor immediately filled to capacity! A very strange running order…
There were the usual activities organised during the day, which were fine. Special mention should go to Jack, one of the quiz presenters, a very amusing young man.
We hope this brief summary of our three days spent at Warners Studley Castle is useful to those considering booking this venue.

Littlecote is a fabulous location, I first came in 2016 and I've been a firm fan of Warner Hotels since. However, since the product was taken over I fear too many changes have been made, no doubt due to cost cutting and updating the product overall. At the same time prices have increased. Here are a few examples: The lovely extras that used to come with Signature Room Upgrades are now pretty non existent. These upgrades made it worth paying more for. For example, knowing you could have fresh milk in your cuppa on accessing your room was a great touch. Now replaced with those nasty little long-life sachets, as found in many run of the mill hotels and B&Bs! They're difficult to use, particularly for arthritic hands and risk milk squirting in all directions. And sadly dining room offerings are also much changed and bear little resemblance to the varied menus of old, including being able to select one's own choice of produce at a fabulous buffet. It's also become noticeable that while staff no doubt do their best, there's no denying many simply find the job unenjoyable. And whoever decided ALL guests must be strongly encouraged to access the Itinerary for their break via a QR code must surely have been having a massively bad day themselves. I mean, really Warner, have you completely lost sight of your Core Customers' age group?? Actually I am enjoying my current return to Littlecote. I am fortunate in that technology hasn't entirely overtaken me.... yet. And I am still able to open the long-life milk sachets without squirting the contents up the wall and everywhere else. However while sat in reception earlier listening to yet another incredulous guest complaining about having missed an activity, because she couldn't access the Itinerary online, I do fear that any more shavings to cut costs will result in customers deciding Enough is Enough. Come on Warner, bring back some of the little extras that used to make a Warner Break Really Special. Maybe time to backtrack on some of those changes? REF Warner's response - wouldn't it be lovely if just once a review was Heard and Acted upon? I reiterate the comments about the nasty little milk sachets. Warner used to be different than the majority of run of the mill hotels and and chain b&bs. Yes because even good b&bs provide fresh milk these days. Perhaps you didn't do your homework customer services. As for the huge number of plastic sachets, hmm, as opposed to one small Tetra pack that would last the majority of guests during their break, REALLY? And yes, the itinerary is available in digital form. However, that wasn't the point? Surely you understand that most guests like to browse their previously issued paper copy so that the day can be planned. Eg. at leisure after breakfast in a comfortable chair. Or while having a coffee. Ditto late afternoon when considering the evenings entertainment. Having to Keep squinting at ones mobile phone, tracking back to reception or finding a screen in a corridor, just isn't the same. Of course know this. Toiletries - this is a change for the better and does reduce plastic waste. Fluffy robes - I was in a Signature Room. There was nothing to advise me that I now had to request a robe at reception. I saw two guests in robes on their way back from the pool and assumed it was yet another 'shaving' to now only provide them for contemporary and historic rooms. It's clear from my last 3 Warner stays, I have seen a lot of changes in that time, that listening to other guests, overall there are many who feel so many 'shavings' are a step too far. Conversations with reception are redirected to customer services as expected. The menu too is indeed vastly different, as well as portion sizes, despite your reply. I had what was described as miso salmon during my stay. The fillet was the tiniest I have ever seen, I frequently eat salmon fillet. I just couldn't imagine it being served to e.g a strapping 6' male and the kitchen wouldn't have known that I wasn't. Looking at the reviews it's clear, as is so often the case with most customer services, that the responses are standard and prescribed. It's extremely disappointing. Do I feel that I have been heard. No of course not.....

We stayed a the The Runnymede on Thames in June . Great location despite air and traffic noise. Nice room that could have done with a good clean.
The only area with decent service was the 'brasserie. The rest was appalling , listless bored staff who tried hard to avoid serving diners ,
Would I stay there again yes !
Management need to do some staff training soon.
PS we were told we would get a refund of 20% on our bar bill to compensate for the lack of air conditioning during our stay - still waiting despite advised by customer services we would get a call regarding this .

I booked a seven-night stay at Warner Hotels’ Nidd Hall from 26 June to 3 July 2026, paying £1,427 for the room excluding extras. The purpose of the stay was to get away from home distractions and work on my latest novel.
Unfortunately, I left after four nights because I had been unable to sleep properly due to extremely loud creaking floorboards from the room above. On the first two nights I lost around two hours’ sleep each night, despite wearing earplugs. On the third night I lost around an hour. On the fourth night, guests above me were walking around from about 10pm until 2am, and I did not sleep at all.
This was not ordinary hotel background noise. I live on a main road and routinely use earplugs, so I am used to sleeping through noise. The issue was that normal movement in the room above created severe and repeated disturbance during sleeping hours.
I had specifically requested a quiet room before booking because sleep was essential to the purpose of my stay. Out of the three full days I was there, I managed only around one and a half days of useful work. By the morning after the fourth night, I had a migraine and left early.
I requested a pro-rata refund for the unused nights. I was instead offered a £400 voucher, which I do not consider adequate. A voucher would require me to risk another stay despite this experience, with no guarantee that the same or similar issue would not happen again. It also represents less than three-sevenths of the room cost.
I have submitted a detailed complaint to Warner Hotels, but have now been told it may take up to 28 days to look into it. I find that disappointing given the facts have already been provided in detail.
I will update this review to reflect Warner Hotels’ final response once received.
Update following Warner Hotels’ response:
Warner Hotels have now responded to my formal complaint.
Despite my detailed explanation that I had to abandon my seven-night stay after four nights because repeated sleep disturbance made the room unsuitable for its primary purpose, Warner have refused a pro-rata refund for the unused nights.
Instead, after directing me through further complaint procedures and taking several weeks to respond, they offered either a £400 voucher or a £200 cash refund.
I found this deeply disappointing.
The issue was never about wanting a discounted return visit. I paid £1,427 for a quiet writing retreat, specifically requested a quiet room before arrival, then endured four nights of severely disrupted sleep due to excessive structural noise from the room above. I eventually left with a migraine caused by lack of sleep.
The stay also suffered from other shortcomings, including a loose patio door handle, no proper lock on the outside patio door, and an overcrowded swimming pool where paying guests competed with members for space.
None of these issues alone would have caused me to leave early, but together they painted a picture of standards well below those I expected from Warner Hotels’ premium accommodation.
Throughout, the staff I dealt with were polite and courteous. My criticism is directed at Warner Hotels’ management and complaint handling, not its frontline staff.
The £400 voucher is of little value when it requires me to risk another stay with no assurance that the same problems would not arise again.
I have now been told Warner’s final position is that, instead of a fair pro-rata refund, they will offer either the £400 voucher or just £200 in cash. I believe prospective guests deserve to know both about my stay and how my complaint was handled.
Best avoided in my opinion!

I wrote a review but it was mistakingly put onto Thoresby where in fact we stayed at HEYTHROP PARK - worst break I have had in 30 years of using Warners! I am a platinum member so go often, since Warners have changed 4 hotels into Reserve hotels they are totally boring, nothing to do, no shows, it’s like a glorified care home! We stayed at Heythrop Park in June, on arrival we ordered lunch, scotch egg, potato bites & prawns, cut into the scotch egg the meat was pink & the egg runny, the potato bites & prawns were swimming in oil, manager came over & said it should never have left kitchen! BUT it DID! There is absolutely nothing to do especially if it’s raining! I went to Sales office to ask if I could change the other 2 booking I had booked onto NON-Reserve hotels, I was told no! I rang up head office & had no problem at all! I went back to sales & said what I had done, he said I could have done that but my partner said but you didn’t, his reply was - I couldn’t be bothered! We reported it to Jane - the manager who was very nice! Apparently they want the younger ones there instead lol. The salad bar 2 nights running was swarming with flies, I called chef up on 2nd night, he said he would get someone to swish them away, they probably had laid their eggs & should have been changed! The food has really gone down, lamb really fatty, slow cooked beef was tough & the veg is more or less the same every damn night! So boring, I eat much better at home!
When I go away I want the best because that’s what we pay for! As I said I shall NEVER do a Reserve hotel again!
Whilst I was there I did a survey asking loads of people what they thought, I got one positive reply out of at least 40 couples I asked & they said it was their first time! Warners you really need to change because it will Break you! No shows on the night either! Why change something that WASN’T broke, I used to love to go but not now, definitely not a Reserve break!
We were there on one of the hottest weeks, no water stations at all & no where to fill our bottles!

While the stunning historic grounds at Cricket St Thomas lived up to expectations, absolutely beautiful. I’m afraid the overall experience unfortunately fell short of their standards. The staff who served us were absolutely great. They were all really nice. The front desk staff unfortunately need to improve their basic customer service. Unfortunately the upgrade we specifically asked for was very poor in my eyes. We got the use of a table top fridge, 2 cans of water & 2 cans of apple drink. There was also 2 packets of crisps, which we thought would be for each day we stayed. But when my partner asked the hotel management he was flatly told ‘ we don’t do that, you get the drinks & crisps on your first day & that’s it’. The bed we had was 2 singles pushed together so was very uncomfortable, & the bedding was much to be desired. It was impossible to get a good nights sleep, not only that but the floorboards in the room above creaked all night. I know there were functions on late nights but this was early into the morning. Very noisy… The food was bland & tasteless, I had the roast on our fist night there but didn’t eat much of it. I ate salad for the rest our our stay, which to be honest I could have gotten almost anywhere. I had sweet pastries for breakfast which were about the best thing I ate. Before we vacated the room, my partner saw a large rat running across our doorway, which luckily was closed. He reported this to the front desk which the member of staff recorded on there computer. This is one holiday we were glad to get home from. We will not enter another Warner hotel if this is what a customer is expected to experience. Very poor. I don’t think we will stay there again.
I’m sorry but if we had known we were paying extra for what we actually got we would have just stayed in one of your cheaper rooms with no extras. There was much more on offer at the last Warner hotel, but our experience at your hotel has put us off staying at any more Warner hotels.

The booking process is easy enough and the Customer Services staff are very good. However, the no refund cancellation policy is tough to swallow. We had to cancel our first ever break because my partner fell and was unable to travel. We had booked a standard room so obviously no refund and no opportunity to change dates because the flexible rate was too expensive for us. The staff member I spoke to to advise of the cancellation was understanding. I would say that if you're thinking of booking a standard room then personal travel insurance is an absolute must.

We've just returned from a 2 night stay at Corton Coastal Vllage. Enjoyed it, so I'm not complaining about the resort.
What I do feel compelled to write about is the cost. Due to unfortunate circumstances, we needed to book a last minute break. What I didn't know, and what is certainly not widely advertised, is that Warner Hotels use a sliding pricing policy, so booking late means you have to pay more. I booked by phone because I couldn't find what I wanted on the website. I obviously misunderstood what the lady had said because what we paid was well above the rate on the website, for the room we were allocated.
Looking at other Trustpilot reviews, I realise there is no point in arguing with Warnerhotels. They never change their minds where money is concerned, but I thought I would like to warn others.
The outcome of this is that I feel totally cheated by Warnerhotels. Not a nice feeling about a company you've come to enjoy and trust.
And, talking about reviews, the responses from Lauren are always so similar, I just wonder if Lauren is a actually AI?

My father was a member of the Norton Park Hotel spa for many years. He was always very happy with them. However, I discovered at the beginning of May that he had been paying double membership fees by direct debit for over 8 months. I called to query and had an immediate apology, with the reassurance that he would be refunded. My dad is 96. Almost two months have passed and no refund. Additionally, I wrote to Head Office, politely requesting a response to assure me the refund of almost £600 was coming, and received no response. The staff member at the spa itself has been polite and apologetic, but the corporate response has been appalling. It is not acceptable to allow this overpayment to happen and to not even send a formal apology to my father – if I didn't have power of attorney, in order to check his finances, it would no doubt have continued to be taken from his account for the rest of his life. It goes without saying that his membership with the swimming pool has been cancelled. It is apparent how little Warner Leisure care about the people who have trusted them and used their facilities for many years.

Cricket St Thomas Warner break has been very disappointing. Room carpet very dirty and in need of vacuuming. Room was not serviced I. The morning as apparently they don’t consider it necessary on first morning. So no clean glasses, cups or towels. Tea/coffee not replenished. The restaurant under catered for guests and we were told our selections were not available.
Warner breaks cost a premium but the hotel truly doesn’t warrant the expense. The room was tired and in need of TLC.
Staff were friendly enough and some of the evening entertainment was good whilst other was poor.

Dear Mr. Flaum and Mr. Pomroy,
I am writing to formally escalate a critical health, safety, and staff conduct issue that occurred at Warners Bembridge Coast Resort on Saturday 20 June at approximately 11 pm, and continuing throughout my stay until Wednesday 24th June 2026.
During the peak of the current record-breaking UK heatwave, while active Met Office Red extreme heat warnings were in place, my party was flatly refused a jug of tap water by your staff.
When I requested to speak to management regarding this severe safety risk A 'Duty Manager' presented himself. When pressed on the matter, responded with "... I don't care, I'm not here tomorrow." informing me that they couldn’t serve any more water as the bar was now closed. The provision of a jug of water, he claimed, 'is against company policy'!?!?
This goes far beyond poor customer service. Denying vital hydration to 'guests' during a national heat emergency is a gross failure of your brand's basic duty of care. Furthermore, the utter contempt and negligence displayed by your Duty Manager is (hopefully!) entirely unacceptable from a representative of Bourne Leisure and the Warners brand.
Due to the severity of this incident and the manager's explicit refusal to handle the matter on-site, I am escalating this directly to your office. I expect a formal investigation into the conduct of the staff on shift and a detailed response regarding how your parks are ensuring guest safety during this extreme weather.
I look forward to your swift response.
