Completely unreliable systems and aggressive collections despite StepChange payments
I am on a formal Debt Management Plan with StepChange and have been making regular payments towards my CashWave loan since March 2026. I have told SteadyPay this multiple times, including during live chat and an AI call, and even provided my StepChange reference.
Despite this:
Payments were repeatedly not recorded or credited properly (June and July payments missing for weeks).
Their AI call summary completely misrecorded what I said about the latest payment.
They continued aggressive AI calls and threats of County Court Judgment.
The account balance has actually gone backwards. It previously showed money repaid; it now shows a negative repaid figure and demands the full original £300 plus £90 subscription even though repayments appear in the transaction list.
I submitted a formal complaint around 10 August and have still received zero acknowledgement or response days later.
I have to check the app every single day because I cannot trust their records.
SteadyPay’s systems are unreliable, their collections approach is aggressive even when a customer is on a recognised DMP and paying, and their complaints handling is non-existent so far. I would not recommend them to anyone.

We understand your concerns regarding the communication you received, the way payments were reflected on your account, and the time taken to receive a response to your complaint. Bank transfer payments can occasionally take time to be received, processed and reconciled to an account, which can temporarily affect how payment information is displayed. However, we appreciate that this caused understandable concern and frustration.
Following our review of your complaint, we have now reconciled the payments on your account and agreed to accept your current Debt Management Plan payments, provided the agreed monthly payments continue to be made as arranged. We have also agreed to cease further communications in relation to the collection of the balance while this arrangement remains in place.
We appreciate that the experience you initially had did not provide the reassurance or clarity you should expect, and we're sorry for the frustration this caused. We hope that the agreement now in place provides greater certainty moving forward.

I had a difficult period recently and unfortunately missed a repayment with SteadyPay. I contacted their support to explain my situation, and Najlae was extremely helpful and understanding.
She took the time to listen, explained my options clearly, and helped me arrange a manageable payment plan rather than simply leaving me to deal with the situation on my own.
What I appreciated most was the way she communicated with me. She was professional, patient and genuinely helpful throughout the conversation.
Things can sometimes go wrong when life gets complicated, and having someone on the other side who is willing to help you find a solution makes a big difference.

No response from messages an no top up offered by the app although paid sort last Thursday
I have been a steadypay member for quite a while however, each week I seem to be experiencing problems with top up of salary, I only received half my wage last week, however the app has still not updated to offer a top up have sent emails to the customer service department on 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of August of all have still had no response from steadypay to what is happening. It advises on the web chat that you will receive a response within a day an yet I still have had response to questions asked.
When dealing with customer services they send a generic message not really explaining what is happening.
As a result of nobody contacting me regarding top up I am now having to incur charges on my bank account for non payment, to which steadypay will not refund for although the system has not updated ??
** 12.08.26 Further update have actually had contact with steadypay however, to date they still have not top my salary up it has now been a full week, for a service that is supposed to help you it is financially making yr financial circumstances difficult as they can't issue a payment the same day for some reason I spoke to agent at 12noon whom authorized the top up it is now 1900 and no sign of any top up hitting my account. Was told they have had a huge amount of messages an this is the only time they could get back to me but still unhelpful as I don't understand how it takes so long for a payment to be sent to your bank account after it's authorized

Following a salary payment, our system can take up to 24 hours to update and reassess the information required to determine whether a top-up is available. In addition, top-up payments are processed manually, which means there can occasionally be delays between a request being approved and the funds reaching a customer's account, particularly during busy periods or where a weekend falls within the processing timeframe.
We also appreciate that the delays in responding to your messages made the situation more frustrating and that the updates you received did not always provide the clarity you needed. We're sorry for this experience.
We're pleased that your case was ultimately resolved and that the top-up was issued and received the following week. We appreciate your patience while this was being worked through and have taken your feedback on board regarding both our response times and the clarity of our communications.

Great customer service and experience
I experienced an issue where I was not receiving my cashwave funds after a few days of requesting it, and Maga was quick to identify that the issue was because my bank account connection had expired, she was extremely helpful and patient with me in reconnecting my account. Aswell as being very polite and professional she was pleasant and always came back to me with updates. Thank you again for the fantastic customer service and for resolving my issue so quickly.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry for the frustration caused by the payment being reflected on your credit file as a missed payment.
We understand why this may appear unexpected, particularly as the outstanding balance was settled shortly after the scheduled due date. In this case, the payment was due on 30 June and was received on 1 July. As the payment was received in the following calendar month, it was recorded as a missed payment for June when we reported the account information to the credit reference agencies.
As an FCA-regulated lender, we are required to report accurate account and payment information to the relevant credit reference agencies in accordance with our reporting obligations. This means that a payment made shortly after the due date can still be reflected as a missed payment where it falls into the following reporting period.
We appreciate that this can be frustrating, especially when the payment was only one day late, but we are required to report the account based on the applicable reporting criteria.
