Really rather expensive for such a short experience with few actors that wasn't scary at all. Ive been to a few scare experiences and the others was much better; ScreamFest is an good example of what should be expected. Had high hopes at the start to be feeling bit deflated on my exit, went to the pub to make up for it.

We took two ten year old girls and they absolutely loved it. It was set at the right level of scariness for them and all the staff were great. Not sure about the negative reviews maybe they are expecting the Texas chainsaw massacre. I would definitely recommend for younger families. 👍👍

Please read other review . This is the worst vent we have ever been too . Agree with all the other 1 star reviews and if I could give 0 I would. They also have taken down all negative review on Facebook/ don't reply to your complaints and something should be done about this company. I am absolutely fuming at them !

We had a brilliant time. Cant believe the negative comments on here. Loved it that they gave a safe word in case you were scared. Could hear some of the kids shouting it and the actors immediately backed away. Obviously not a big event compared to Alton Towers but then they charge you more. Took us over an hour which was an hour well spent. Really enjoyed it and kids loved it.

Your going through the forest in a large crowd, you can see the actors scaring the people in front of you so you know what to expect. If your at the back your not getting scared. Also security checks our bags but nobody else's which i thought were quite rude

What a fantastic evening! There were lots of screams throughout! The castle was the best part and there was a fantastic choice of food by some fire pits which warmed us right up! A fab scary night out just before Halloween💀👻🎃

Very poor event. Feels more like an event for tweens than anything.

At £22 a ticket, it's vastly overpriced for what it is.

Which is a walk around the 10 or so rooms of Wentworth House, which is nice, but again, the scares are just people standing in corners. Nothing new and nothing even remotely scary. The house was definitely a 3/10 for me. Atmospheric, but rather meh.

Then it's a half mile walk around the gardens, and this is where it all falls apart. I counted 13 actors, which is simply not enough. They were great, but the fact that it's a trail and thus open, means the qualities of horror are lost (isolation being the main one). You can see the actors coming, and while they were scary enough, it's really not enough to give you a shiver.

The organisers say this is a 60 - 90 minute event, but we did the whole thing in 30 minutes. Very very overpriced.

The location looked great and the lighting was lovely, but this felt like a soulless cash grab. There are other horror events in the area which are far superior.

But, by far the WORST thing about this event was that the organisers are deleting negative comments from reviews. Which I think is really very poor.

Ultimately, this is a great show if you're 10, but beyond that, there's just not enough meat on this skeleton to really give adults a thrill.

This has potential, but it needs a lot of work to compete with other Halloween events in the area. Won't be going back next year.

Surprised by other reviews, we had a great time, seemed to be lots of actors - the trail was decent and inside the castle rooms were great. There were different areas and a nice centre bit with a coffin game and some roaming actors.
Queues were pretty quick. We thought it was very good, not the scariest but lots of laughs and jumps.

Completely agree with all the other 1 star reviews. This event was absolutely diabolical.

On arrival, we waited 45 minutes in a queue to enter, despite arriving at our allocated time. We then walked down a trail with a few actors who didn’t even try to engage with us.

At the end of the trail, we reached the first of the two scare zones. We waited a further 30 minutes to enter in the rain. The scare zone was four rooms with one actor per room. A huge disappointment lasting only 2-3 minutes overall.

After exiting, we then joined ANOTHER queue to enter the over 18 room… which was absolutely laughable. There was one actor in the room holding a plastic toy chainsaw - not sure what made this an over 18 experience??

The advertised rides in the scare village were 3 children’s rides. And the food choices were poor, limited and extremely overpriced.

Finally, we entered the second scare zone. This experience lasted no more than 1 minute and consisted of two actors who stood still as we walked past.

Don’t waste your money on this event, and if you try to complain, they’ll ignore your messages, emails and delete your comments on their social media!

Just don’t do it. Waste of money. Not scary. Actors were awful- a fake toy chainsaw and crap rides. Scream time- more like shit time.

If I could give a 0 I would, took about 15 minutes from start to finish , was honestly expecting more seeing as they said it could take up to an hour to get round 🤷‍♀️ , not worth the money

20 mins in and out . A complete waste of money both of my teenageers and did not scream once or get scared . Way way way over prices tickets and food and drink . The fair rides was for toddlers . My kids was so depressed as they wished the went scare fest instead

If I could score 0 stars I would.From start to finish 15 mins not 45-60 mins like advertised,had a walk through a small section of the house,saw about 8 or so dressed up 'actors' not one tried to engage with us at all just stood staring at us.Then after approx 5 mins out into the 'haunted' woods now this was shocking and not in a good way,silly generic sound effects which made it quite laughable,poorly made props of fabric with red paint on and laughable wrapped up bodies that weren't even to the scale of any person iv ever seen,definitely more appropriate for kids under 10 than 15+ like advertised. My main complaint is the time it took it was not as advertised but the whole experience was mediocre to say the least. The actors and I use that term loosely made no attempt to engage with us at all.And then to top it all off they ignore emails and delete negative comments on their Facebook.Come on guys,respond to this constructive criticism and refund us!

Most disappointing scare experience I have ever done. The website is misleading and it is a scam. This is specifically about the Elvaston castle experience, but from other reviews I am sure others are the same. It's described as a "1km scare trial" but it was neither immersive or scary.

We walked along the path which had a few actors but nothing scary it was a nice add on but cannot be considered part of the experience. After around 10 minutes we arrived at the castle, where a sizeable queue was already waiting. We queued for 20-25 minutes, then the actual time we spent in the house was 8 minutes. Walking out of the butcher's room, we were confused and assumed we had missed part of the inside, and had to ask a staff member, who confirmed that was all there was, other than the zombie area. We went to that just in case that was where the main part was, but again was very disappointed. Walking through the room, we get to the garden, which had been set up with props, but there was only one actor next to a gate, who scared us and that was it. My partner was so confused and was convinced there must be more he started to wander behind the gate, but again we were told that was all there was. In total, the time spent actually being scared was possibly 10 minutes.

We left feeling disappointed and that we had paid a fair amount of money for nothing. I have emailed complaining but haven't received a response, making it clear to me this was a scam. Don't waste your time or money.

What was advertised was a scare trail with over 75 "actors" (we have since counted, there must have been about 20 people with rubber masks on and that is being generous). We assumed given the size of Elvaston and the grounds, this trail would lead you around the house, gardens and woodland. It is advertised as a 1km trail "designed to terrify" but the total distance is about 600m from the car park to the back corner of the Zombie experience, and when you exclude the food court and the queuing - it equates to about 3 minutes.

​I genuinely can't express how underwhelming this was... you just walk through 4 rooms of a house while people in masks stand in plain sight and occasionally roar at you before being channelled into the ridiculously overpriced food court.

​After walking through the house, our group tried to remain positive to not ruin the evening in the hopes the "zombie experience" would be better. This was even more laughable, one room, 3 more rubber masks and 30 seconds later our experience was done.

​We were promised a terrifying experience... the scariest bit was the total lack of organisation at the initial queue to get in. This whole experience reminded me of Glasgow's infamous Willy Wonka Chocolate Experience from 2024 - a total cash grab with absolutely no effort put in. Avoid at all costs!

We have requested a full refund via email - if not this shall be escalated to Citizens Advice.

Elvaston Castle is an ideal location for an experience like this to be held, but unfortunately, it was unforgettable for all of the wrong reasons.

I leave this review with a theatrical, theming & price comparison to their “rivals” Scream Fest & Xtreme Scream. After paying a very similar fee, I did not expect a kids ghost train vibe for the 15+ tickets.

Scare actors were few and far between, relying entirely on their costume and stares for the thrill factor. Costumes were decent but not when the actors were mute and doing very little crowd work. Only one actor upon leaving the event gave it is all and we applauded him because that’s the energy we were seeking!

Decor & theming of the “mazes” was ok, minus the kids plastic chainsaw.. but it’s not exactly what strikes fear into you. If this was advertised as a family ghost walk, I would’ve understood it more. But it wasn’t.

After relatively long queues, we completed the two scare sections in 45 seconds - 1 minute each!? The majority of our time there was stood in unsheltered queues with no entertainment.

The only thing that made us gasp was the food / drink prices. I know this event is family run & relatively new BUT the advertisement is misleading and although you could see they had tried, the event is a flop & I left feeling second hand embarrassment.

Scream time or a quick way to scam some dimes?

Incredibly poor from start to finish.

We arrived just before 7 but ended up queuing 45 minutes before we were let in. After being given a safe word I had high hopes but the experience was a huge let down.

Most of the experience is spent walking through the wood where there’s cheap Halloween decor thrown either side of the path and two ‘actors’ in cheap masks attempting to scare you by shouting things like ‘roar’ and ‘kissy pants’. Maybe they thought this was still the child’s experience?

Once you reach the castle itself and queue again to get inside, the experience lasts for two minutes maximum. There’s a couple more people in masks in dark rooms.

You then reach the scariest part of the evening, the food court where you will pay £5 for two marshmallows.

The final part of the evening is the zombie experience, this was exceptionally bad and lasted 30 seconds if that. The actors were just stood by the exit having a chat until they realised we were there.

An incredibly underwhelming evening, I wouldn’t recommend or return.

We had high hopes for the event at Elvaston Castle.
Sadly they were not lived upto. The marketing on their site gives the impression of a real scare event, something that will genuinely get your heart racing. Claiming the trail will take 40 to 60 minutes, professional scare actors and a scare village at the end.
What did we get? Some people wearing cheesy rubber masks, a kids toy chainsaw and no acting what so ever. It felt like a childs scare trail.
The scare village after was an utter disappointment also.
Feel like I've been scammed.
