I love this couch. It's cozy, the material is great and very easy to keep clean. Building the whole thing was fine but I had a bit of a problem getting the right pieces, sent so it sat halfway built for a while. That being said the customer service was excellent and they worked very hard and made it right as fast as possible.

I've thought long and hard about this review because, for my family, this was a large expenditure of $4,459.76. I also wanted to have enough time to live with it and give it a fair chance.

Before purchasing my sectional, I bought 13 (yes, you read that right!) fabric samples. I wanted to be positive I was getting not only the right color, but also the best fabric for my house, which includes two dogs. One pup sheds terribly.

I chose the Retriever fabric because I wanted something with that lush "velvet" feel, and it was also part of Home Reserve's pet-lovers fabric selection. I went so far as to take the swatch and rub it all over our shedding pup, and the fur did come off the sample fairly easily. That's a whole different story when you're talking about a large sectional. I simply had no idea how much care it would take.

Had I known then what I know now, I would have chosen a multi-toned fabric. This choice I made is in no way a criticism of Home Reserve. However, it would have been nice to have been warned about just how much care it takes to vacuum the dog hair off the sectional every single night.

I made an additional $100 purchase of the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser cordless vacuum (highly recommended if you purchase the Retriever fabric—you'll need it if your dog sheds, trust me!). The fabric does spot-clean with a simple damp cloth, which is a huge plus.

The sectional was shipped and delivered in a timely manner. My husband and I are in our early 70s, and we were able to put the large sectional together without any additional help.

Was it easy? Not at first. After the first two pieces, we had it down, but it still took us a few days to complete. Putting the fabric covers on was tough going at first. Then I found the videos on their website that showed exactly how to do the more difficult pieces, such as the corner unit and the arms.

The only problem was that locating the videos wasn't easy. I finally bookmarked them on my computer.

The storage is great to have. If I could have afforded it, I would have purchased the liners for the storage areas. The wood is rough—very rough—and needed some light sanding to keep splinters out of our hands.

Would I purchase this again? Probably not.

Even though I love what Home Reserve stands for, it is a LOT to deal with. You have to be ready to put in some work that includes lifting, sanding, putting it together, and then covering it all while spending a lot of time on your knees.

I did email the company asking how much it would cost if I were to replace the covers with a different fabric. That, after all, is one of the "perks" of the product. I've already spent over $4,500, so the thought of spending another $1,545.08 was simply beyond our budget.

I will admit that after the first night of having it completely assembled, I had major second thoughts and looked into the guarantee for returning it if I wasn't satisfied. It was then that I saw that orders over $4,000 are not returnable.

If you can imagine a large sectional that you've worked on for several days, fully assembled and in place in your living room, only to actually consider breaking it down and repackaging it in the original boxes, then you'll understand what I mean about being very sure about your purchase beforehand.

Buy the no-risk trial first to be certain.

It's a good product. There are issues and major considerations, so think long and hard. Ask ALL the questions—not just of the company, but of yourself—because this is an investment that isn't just monetary. It's also an investment of your time: putting it together, maintaining it, and, if you like a neat home, cleaning the entire sectional every single night.

Customer Service was spot on. Ordered something not on the website and she made the order and sent me the link to check out. Then the code I had didn't work and she made that right too. I am looking forward to receiving it.

Easy to use website, sofa arrived on time, was easy to asseble, and very comfy! The fabric we got is velvety, but very easy to clean of both spills and dog hair.

I like the look of the couch, but putting it together was rediculous. I mean having a rough side and a smooth side is the worst possible way to show sides when building something DIY splinters in your fingers, splinters poking through fabric, so then you sand it and you make a MESS in your own house building a very expensive sofa when you could’ve bought one for the same price, same size, and had it built, delivered and installed. I think they should say like “side with the red dot” “side with the blue dot” instead of forcing your customers to sand down wood like a damn carpenter. And you can forget about the “storage” in the seats, that’s splinter city down there. If I ever put a blanket under there it would come out painful with splinters from those dang pieces it’s an absolute joke man. The “deep” seat is also incredibly shallow I was truly astonished. The seats are wide, but NOT any deep couch I’ve ever sat on, I cannot imagine what the standard seat depth is if that’s the deep version. It’s also incredibly firm, but that’s whatever. Overall, I feel like I paid wayyyyy too much for something I had to spend 12 hours building, sanding, and constructing inside my own home dirtying up my space just for something I could’ve bought already built for the same price, with no splinters. It’s pretty, and in theory yeah I can wash all of it if I really want the hassle of getting the fabric back on and off, but idk if it was more hassle than it’s worth.

I did so much research before finally ordering a sample section (Archetype quartz fabric). It was so comfortable, yet really supportive too. Added several pieces to create an L-shaped sectional and we all love it! We have to fight the dog for the corner spot, and that fabric doesn't show any signs of pet hair! So happy with everything about it and we will be adding an ottoman soon. Thank you for a great American-made product from a company we feel great supporting!

I love my choice of the Retriever Atlantic fabric. The company worked with me to discover the exact fabric and color. I received my trial deep armless section pretty quickly. Super easy to put together! (Unfortunately the cardboard holder, that is very much needed for putting the back onto the base, was missing. I did manage and when I got my final selection, the cardboard piece was included.)
I ordered the regular armless deep seat to trial, I quickly realized that I we needed the deep and wide version instead. The company immediately got the ball rolling on the return.
I ordered three of the deep and wide seats with flat topped pillows and two squared arms. They came in clearly marked boxes about a month later.
I love putting together most anything. Ikea pieces are super fun for me! What I loved about Home Reserve is that each piece is clearly marked, with a very obvious smooth and rough side. The pieces are also pretty much arranged in order in the box! Plenty of screws and all the same size which is so good, gloves, sanding blocks in the first box. The BIG issue is that I was evidently sent the incorrect manual. The manual clearly indicated a spot to place a screw, but the predrilled holes did not line up at all. Because the piece basically just slipped down onto the base, I left it without the screws. I reached out to the company before I built the other seats. I do love that the company gives their employees a four day work week, but I had to wait until Monday for help. Not a big deal for me, but could be problematic for people that only have the weekends to build their sofa. I went back and forth with the company, sending photos of the piece, the front of the manual and the page where the piece was shown before they realized the the manual had some errors. I did put together the entire sofa in a very reasonable time. Everything, except for the small bottom pieces went together perfectly. Unfortunately I was missing some of the connectors. This caused the sofa seats to push forward every time we sat on it. Super annoying. I contacted them and they at first thought that the arms were missing the upgraded metal nut that holds the connectors as well. I couldn't see if I had the correct version without removing the fabric etc. They immediately sent two replacements with the metal nut but NO connectors. I took apart the sofa arms and discovered that I did indeed have the correct piece! That was good because they sent me the regular sized arm not the deep seat version.
Whew, that was a lot! Would I buy it again? Absolutely! We have four cats and dog that immediately claimed it. Thankfully we have plenty of space for everyone. I regularly have to remove fur from the seats, which I expected. The Retriever Atlantic is a perfect color to make the cleaning so easy! The sofa is very comfortable and the perfect chair height for us. One of the back cushions needs to be worked on to make it look smooth, but overall it looks really great. I would totally recommend buying a sofa from Home Reserve!

The very best customer service! We tried the sectional and it did not work for my family. We are shorter than average. They were fantastic about the return and it was completed within 48hrs. The piece was very well built and easy to assemble. It's even packed in the order of assembly. Hate it didn't work for us but can't recommend highly enough! Given them a try!

Overall, I really like the concept behind the Home Reserve couch, but for the price point, I expected a higher level of comfort and a few more refined design details.

Assembly wasn't too bad. It definitely goes faster if one person works on assembling the frame while another person works on the fabric pieces for the cushions and boards. Once everything is together, the couch looks very nice. I love the shape, the fabric is nice, and it provides the amount of seating we were looking for.

Where the couch falls short for me is comfort, especially considering the price.

The seat cushions are **extremely firm**. I understand the reasoning behind using firmer foam so the cushions maintain their shape and last longer, but I think comfort is sacrificed in the process. The cushions that have been regularly used are beginning to soften slightly, so they no longer feel quite as much like you're sitting or laying on a rock, but they're still much firmer than I personally prefer. For a couch at this price point, I expected something I would immediately want to settle into and relax on.

I think offering an optional plush insert or topper over the existing foam would be a great solution for customers who want the durability of the firmer foam but prefer a softer, more comfortable feel.

I would also like the back of the couch to be a little higher. That would better accommodate taller people and those who like that cozy feeling of almost being "hugged" by their couch. The back cushions could also be slightly fuller or fluffier so they don't need to be fluffed and repositioned as frequently.

Another issue for me is the depth. Once the back cushions are placed on the couch, they take away approximately four inches of usable seating depth. I would love to see that accounted for in the overall dimensions so the finished couch feels truly "deep" once all of the cushions are in place.

The seat cushions also tend to slide out of position and need to be pushed back fairly often. It's not a major problem, but it is annoying, and at this price point it's one of those details I wouldn't expect to be dealing with so frequently.

My last recommendation is related to safety, especially for families with kids. I would really like to see some light padding added to the frame behind the back cushions and definitely along the top where the two frame boards meet. One of my biggest concerns with any couch is a child falling, jumping or playing and hitting a hard exposed portion of the frame. Adding a little padding in those areas would give me much more peace of mind without affecting the appearance of the couch.

With all of that said, **the Home Reserve concept itself is probably my favorite thing about the couch.** I love knowing that if something breaks, tears, wears out, or we simply decide we want a different shape or color later, individual components can be replaced instead of having to throw away the entire couch and buy another one. That's a huge plus, especially for households with kids and furbabies.

I really want to love this couch because I love the way it looks, the modularity, the fabric and what Home Reserve is trying to accomplish. At this price point, though, I expected the comfort and some of the finishing details to match the versatility and appearance of the couch. If the seating were more comfortable and some of these smaller design issues were addressed, I think it could take the couch from one that I really like in concept and appearance to one that I genuinely love using every day.

I am deeply dissatisfied with my couch. I find it to be rock hard, and totally uncomfortable. It is too much of a hassle, and costly to try and return, but it was very expensive, and I wish I had not purchased it. I would not recommend to others.

Amazing product, amazing customer service, we are SO happy with our sectional! Home Reserve is one of the best companies left in the US.

I started with material samples, then ordered one piece, now just had the rest of the pieces delivered. Instructions were great for assembly. Did have to do more sanding then expected. Haven't unboxed the rest of the pieces, but I expect they will be similar to the first.

Ordered swatches, arrived as ordered.
However, they took longer than expected, and we ended up making a decision with another vendor prior to even receiving swatches.

If they were expedited (especially since I had to pay for them!) we would've probably moved fwd w Home Reserve. Thank you.
