I installed their software in Linux and it immediately removed my right to set any other competing software as default.

I managed to create one document with pictures which I saved as a .pdf, thankfully. I had presumed as it was set to save every five minutes that it had actually saved my work in the document, only to find the following day it had saved the first 12 pages of 28 and those 12 all the pictures had reverted to 'object frame' and were all over the place. Not to worry I could start a new document starting with the 26th page of the previous document only to find after 6 pages that I constantly got a message saying "not enough memory". I have more than enough memory, storage etc, no viruses, no problem with my memory diagnostic. So I can only conclude this program is what is causing the problem. Wasted 2 days on this. Wrote this review so you don't waste yours.

Great product, shame about the email spam. I DO NOT WANT TO RECEIVE YOUR SPAM- was that clear enough because apparently ticking 'Unsubscribe' isn't enough !

The basics are good. Unfortunately, the 2024 version appears to have reduced functionality compared to the 2021 release. Notably, the “Track Changes” feature available in the 2021 version has been removed. This may be an intentional decision to encourage users to upgrade to the paid version.

Gratis Word van FreeOffice in plaats van gratis Word van Microsoft is een aanrader.
Ik gebruik sinds vandaag 25 mei 2025 gratis Word van FreeOffice van Softmaker Software als alternatief van Word van Microsoft, wat mij goed bevalt. Ik kan tot nu toe alle bewerkingen van een tekst doen die ik normaal toepas. Als ik een probleem heb, kan ik een oplossing zoeken in hun gebruiksaanwijzing, een zoekopdracht doen via Google of hun een e-mail sturen. Ik ben een kleinverbruiker en vraag me nu af of ik een reden heb om een betaalde versie van Microsoft aan te schaffen, terwijl FreeOffice gratis is. Ik wil best betalen voor een goed product, maar niets betalen en toch een goed bruikbaar product is een aanrader, terwijl Softmaker Software ook betaalde versies heeft. Ik ken op dit moment weinig vergelijkbare bedrijven.

When I left work I had to give back my employers lap and yes you got it, ms office 😱. Not being prepared to pay for it I tried Softmaker’s free version. To begin with it felt a little “clunky” compared to the real deal, but 6 months later I’m loving it. When I get stuck I just Google the issue and get instructions on how to do the task. It now does everything I need it to do. I get regular software updates and haven’t experienced and access issues as described in other reviews. My advice would be to give it a go.

The free Textmaker is quite good, a bit like LibreOffice but with a more dated look and less customisation. It did everything I wanted.
But you must apply for a registration key within 10 days, and the app simply failed to provide me with one. Support was excellent, replying to my emails very promptly with various suggestions, but none worked and I gave up, it was too much hassle.

I really do like this product and have now been using it for some time.
So why am I not giving it five stars?
It's because I suddenly found that I couldn't open any of my documents anymore.
I uninstalled and reinstalled still would not work.Then I noticed that the file extenstion had changed and I downloaded the pay for version, giving 30 days free use and it worked.
I don't object to paying but they still advertise it as being free and the free version is still available to download. Why? I don't know because if you do download it you can't use it!
They need to stop lying to the public and stop pretending it's still free as it's not.

As they have published advertisements which are blatantly false. I.e. that this is a free product I have now made a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority so they can look into it and if they agree with me take appropriate action.

Using SoftMaker Office for about a month. Excelent, cheaper replacement for MS Office, much faster and better usability then free Libre Office. Worth it.

Alle mine gemte filer i tekstprogrammet er pludselig blevet væk! Systemet kan ikke finde filerne, hvilket er kritisk, da indeholdet er meget vigtigt!!! Jeg troede man kunne stole på et gratis program, men åbenbart ikke. Jeg kan ikke komme igennem til softmaker. Har skrevet både til info plus via deres ‘kontakt os’ formular, men får intet svar. Ikke engang en -Vi har modtaget din besked og kontakter din indenfor x dage- mail. Bliver mere og mere desperat for at få åbnet mine dokumenter. Virkelig frusterende at alle mine gemte filer pludselig ikke kan findes og at man ik kan få hjælp til løsning.
Update: Har fået svar at de ikke vil hjælpe mig med hvorfor alle filer pludselig er låst fordi jeg ikke betaler til dem. Henviste mig dog til en platform med andre gratister og sagde jeg kunne prøve at spørge der.
