Only giving one stare because it won't…

Only giving one stare because it won't let me give any less. They damaged 4 Pieces of our furniture and one piece is over 100 years old. We are still missing 10 boxes and the one box had tools in it that are worth over 300. And they damaged a tool box that is worth over 500. Called to make a Complaint and get put on hold then hung up on. Sent emails and no one responded. DO NOT USE THEM. And they changed me 500 more then what we agreed on. Big rip off.

As I explained in the email, please give us a call tomorrow so we can get you a claims form for any damaged items. All of our clients receive our basic valuation protection at no cost to them. I also reviewed your bill of laiding, the additional charge was because you had a delivery date set, the movers were prepared to deliver on the contracted date, made the trip and then you were no longer ready to accept delivery. These things cost the moving company a lot of time, labor, fuel as well as other expenses accumulated when making the trip from PA-SC. We also had you delivered with in the contracted window, even though it took two attempts.

Be Smart and check the fine print and other companies pricing

So I am rewriting my review after a heated argument with the Ops manager (yes he will talk over you) I thought I was telling the truth but I was mistaken with a small portion of their communication. They did contact me prior of the move date to confirm which I did but the day of the move, I had to contact the company to verify they were coming 15 minutes before their end time they gave me - 11-2 arrival time and called them at 145 even though they said a half hour to hour the driver would contact me. They showed up 25 minutes late but were ready to move. 45 minutes into the move I received my new quote of $1900 more dollars. I tried to figure out how that works cause they were suppose to go over the whole move before they start and show me the total. It is what it is. I called and talk to the Ops manager and he did give me a $200 discount, which I am thankful for. Side note - don’t ever believe it when they tell you that there is barely any profit being made. Anywho, I didn’t read the fine print and have the full amount of cash on hand to pay for the services. It was around 630/7pm and I was unable to get to an open bank or PO to get a MO. Side note - please help people understand that cash is only for same say or next day delivery. Having the option to use CC for deposit can be misleading. The gentlemen didn’t pay full attention to what I wanted moved ( even though I showed them all twice). Pay attention to what they grab cause they grabbed more than they should have and I had to pay for that and also drive 2.5 hours to pick it up. Also, pay attention to how clean they are being and make sure to remind them to pick up their trash as they go. They left a mess in my living room. They also had to smoke cigarettes during the job so make sure they clean up their butts and empty packs cause I found them all over my driveway. One also chose to smoke when they were loading the truck. I asked kindly to stop doing that, which he did. They bent my bifold door track without telling and dropped a whole box of decorations on my stairs due to not paying attention. I want to be honest and let you all know I hung up on the Ops manager due to his talking over me and arguing. Yah, I chose to hang up on him. Just know that when you leave a bad review, they will call you.

I did not have a good experience with this company and do not recommend them. The best thing is that we all have free will and can easily disregard my opinion and choose to use this company.

It’s 2024 - look into AI for better quote estimates. You could save a lot of headaches or use humans and play a guessing game.

Thank your your review of our company. You were absolutely quoted for 4 guys, and you had 4 guys for the move. The crews showed up in different trucks because they had previous jobs scheduled. Also, you were quoted for an hourly job and had many more items then the original quote causing it to take more time. All hourly jobs are based on the total amount of time it takes to complete. We state clearly all of this in our estimate. I apologize you are not happy with the service. This client was moved successfully and signed off on the bill of lading.

Bait and Switch Company

Terrible company. Bait and switch. I received a binding estimate for a cross country move. When the movers showed up in a broken down truck with the company name duct tapped to the doors I knew something was up. The workers themselves were fine but in the end I was charged 30% over the estimate for less items. The dispatch manager Derek was rude and not helpful at all said I needed to go to the carrier for the dispute even though my contract is with Extra Mile Vanlines. When I asked for his supervisor he said he was the manager and wouldn’t give me anyone else to talk to. Such unscrupulous business practices. I guess my only recourse at this point is taking them to court. Which I fully intend to do.
Stay far, far, far away from these crooks.

Only way to reply to their answer. There were less items than on the initial inventory list. Should have been less not more. Again bait and switch.

Let me get this straight. You took less items but it took up more space and you are closing the complaint? Prove that it took up more space when there were less items. Also I was charged for 500 cu ft more and now you’re saying 450. I want a detail list by cu ft of each item.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB.

It’s a Bill of Lading not Laiding at least know the proper terminology. I didn’t sign off on additional items because THERE WEREN’T ANY.

They hide behind having a bill of lading signed that can’t be verified and totally disregard their BINDING ESTIMATE.

Thank you for your review Marianne. The only way to be charged more money with our company is the have more items to be moved and packing services needed and signed off on by the client. Which we state in bold letters on our contract. We will get the bill of laiding back from the carrier and post the additional pieces that were moved.

All of this information is on the Bill of Laiding that you signed off on for the changes.

Update- We have received the bill of laiding back from the moving company and this moved required 550 additional cubic feet then the estimate was given for. This move was quoted for 1600, cubic feet and took up an entire 2050 cubic foot box truck. Again, the only way to be charged more with us and as well as any other moving company is if there is an increase of items, space or services on the day of the move. We have closed this complaint.

Please DON'T use this company

Please DON'T use this company. It was a total sham. We were charged double the amount we were quoted, our stuff went missing for WEEKS (despite paying $500 for a guaranteed delivery date), and we had a few boxes never turn up at all (one was incredibly valuable). Our point of contact was Derek Gum and he was not only unprofessional, he lacked some major empathy and was of zero help to us. STEER CLEER and pay the extra money to NOT use a broker. DO NOT USE!!! If I could give this service a ZERO STAR I would.

I have no client named Akara in our database.

The only way to be charged more money with our company is if the client has more items and also signs off on for those items to be moved. We will post the inventory list given to us and the full inventory the client actually had after we find out who this is.


Update 8/4/2024- No one has reached out via phone or email for a resolution to this. We are also confused why one would write a review 64 days after their move take please. If this is a real customer please send an email to me shawn@extramilevanlines.com so we can come to some sort of resolution. I want to repeat. The ONLY way one of our carriers can charge you more money is if you make changes on the day of and sign off on those changes.

If this is a real client of ours feel free to reach me directly at (703) 673-7033 and provide a job number. Again, we have no client named Akara in our data base.

We never received a reply with the clients information to do anything about this complaint. Trust piolot has closed the complaint.

Update 8/30/2024- We still have not received an email, a phone call or anything to come to a resolution with this person. We also have no client named Akara in our system anywhere.

So far as moving experiences go

So far as moving experiences go, this went as well as one could ever hope for. The communication before the move was perfect. They said they would be at my place between 8:00-9:00 a.m. and they arrived at 8:30 - with a 20 minute heads up. They arrived, took at look, asked a few questions, reviewed the fees with me, and then got the job done. I can't think of anything that could have made their service any better than it was.

Prices changed and pickup dates and…

Prices changed and pickup dates and time were confusing. I had a $600 bulk charge and the item was not delivered and I was not given a refund. They were nice on the first contact then were rude after the deposit was paid.

They are a scam artist they go thru…

They are a scam artist they go thru inventory for what to say it is based off the sq ft . I had a one bedroom apartment and they quoted me 430 ft , I told them what I had over 5 times they quoted me low to get the job and promised it would not be more as long as the items are the items I mention. I took out my couch , my dining room set and still wanted $1100 more than on top of that they wanted $1200 more when deliver came to storage because supposedly it was 75 ft which it was not 7 stories is 75ft , from the truck to the elevator was 10.5 ft to my storage was approx. 40 ft . Do not do any business with Extra Miles Vanlines at all original quote was $1998 from NY to Florida , now have paid $3385 and they wanted $1200 more on top of I left my couch and dining room table. WARNING TO NOT BOOK THEM EVER.

Thank you for your review of our company, we take all reviews good or bad very seriously. I had a conversation with your carrier and they explained to me that you had nearly double the inventory list then what was provided to us. Like all moving companies, we can only estimate based on the information that is provided to us. I will get the exact list back from the driver of what the extra pieces were and update this review this week. We stress these things in our contract and also on all sales calls. I will reach out to you once I have more information.

Update- We have received the revised list back from your moving company and also compared it the list given to us by you on the phone call. On the day of the move you added an additional 400 cubic feet worth of items (Double the items you made us aware of when giving you the estimate) all of these changes you signed off on the day of the move and asked the movers to move these additional pieces. As we state on all phone calls if you have extra pieces to be moved the price will adjust accordingly. It also states this in bold letters in our contract. You were given the option to leave the additonal pieces and only move the pieces we estimated for you at the exact estimated price, you chose not to and pay to have them moved. Also in our contract, we go over the long carry and extra fees that can possibly occur during the course of the move. We followed every single line of our contract on this move.

Great job

Great job, initially spoke to Shawn he was so patient going through the inventory he went room by room. Being my first time moving from Florida to Texas I was so nervous. Gave me an amazing price . His Customer service team helped me during the time it took to complete the move. I did need additional space and the foreman assisted me fairly with the items I forgot. In all I'm in Texas and moved in. Thank you again Shawn!

Terrible professionalism and no customer satisfaction

My husband and I had a move scheduled with Extra Mile Van Lines and they were completely unprofessional. We were asked to confirm two dates for moving, which we did and they did not show up until day 3. Since we were renting, we were supposed to have the townhouse professionally cleaned and scheduled those appointments accordingly. Because Extra Mile Van Lines wad so wishy washy about showing up, we had to reschedule all of the cleaning. This in turn put the townhouse manager in a bind. The moving company acted like nothing was done incorrectly and did not take us seriously. They were not friendly and never apologized sincerely. My husband had to wait 3 days, in a townhouse with no food, no internet and no television waiting for the movers. Inconveniencing their customers means nothing but they sure collected their $3000 quickly! Yes $3000 for a 2 hour move in which WE packed everything and wrapped almost everything. I would never recommend this moving company.

The company just reached out to my husband declining any reimbursement for our trouble. My husband is Shane Williams from Waynesville, MO.

And now the owner says my husband was just trying to get money back!! Absolutely false!! How dare you treat a customer like this!! You are dishonest and a liar. We waited 3 days for our stuff and that is NOT a lie. You had to find a new company to move the stuff Wednesday afternoon, which is exactly when the movers said they got the contract.

Shawn Hart- owner- you have alleged that my husband was trying to scam you into giving us money and that is a lie. And the only way you keep high ratings is to only publish the ones that make you look good. You’re a coward and a dishonest businessman. Yes the load was picked up and delivered the same day which was Thursday, not Monday or Tuesday which was in the contract.

This client was moved successfully, with no increases to their estimate and was delivered the very same day. This client did not pay for guaranteed service, the carrier (whom the client raved about) had mechanical issues the night before the move so there for did not pick them up until the next morning. Shane chose to still have the mover come. After being apologetic about the delay shane said "the only way he will be satisfied is if we give him 500 bucks" when we told him no and that we followed our contract he said "what about 200 bucks" we again told him no and that the services were rendered to him. We feel as though Shane was looking for any and every reason to get money out of us. The claim was denied and will continue to be denied as all our services were rendered and he had a great move. We will work with trust piolot to have this review removed once Monday comes and provide them with all the contracts and bill of laiding. The client purchased a self pack where they are responsible for packing any and all boxes, they complained also about this when a full pack option was available. I want to reitterate, the client was picked up, and dropped off the very same day with not a single dollar of increase to their estimate.

** The estimate you received was for June 25/26 (Tuesday or Wednesday) again it is electronically signed and time stamped by Shane. As we stated previously in our review, the driver was delayed for mechanical reasons and that is why you were picked up Thursday morning**

**We have an electronically signed, and time stamped signature from the carrier from Monday 6/24 at 7:44 pm which we also will show to trust piolot to show that this client is sharing false information**. This will be our final response to this complaint.

Worst moving company ever!!

Worst moving company ever!!! Stay away from this company... They add several extra charges after they have your stuff... I ended up paying almost $1000 more than the original estimate.
Additional to this they damage my stuff and did not take responsibility for this, broke an 55 gallon aquarium (they charge me extra money to pack this aquarium the proper way)... They have been lying to me telling me that they will send me a claim form, that I'll get a phone call to solve this and 3 weeks have passed and nothing happens.
This company is unprofessional, irresponsible.
I have no words to tell you how disappointed I am with their service.

We compared the estimate given by us to your final bill of laiding. The increase to your cost was because their were additional items to be moved, and services that were requested on the day of your move. This causes the cubic feet needed to perform your move to increase which will cause a price increase. We also have sent you a claims form on more then one occasion to fill out for the broken aquarium, you are covered always under our valuation protection we provide to all clients. We encourage to fill that form out so that you can receive compensation for the aquarium. We can't stress enough that all moving estimates are based on the information you provide to us, we always ask repeatedly (and state in bold letters on our contract) that if their is more items on the day of, or packing materials needed the price will adjust accordingly. If you need help with your claims form feel free to give us a call!

READ BEFORE BOOKING

I am currently in the middle of a move with their company and thought I would write a review based on my experience thus far. Signing up was great, the initial rep was super helpful, responsive and they were meeting all of my needs. The pickup team arrived on time and was communicative and helpful in loading the truck. I was told the service (I had already been quoted for) included "door to door service- disassemble, wrap, itemized inventory, conditions report, fees are all included. transportation, taxes, fuel, labor costs, cargo protection plan. Flexible date change." The previous moving company I had used had already wrapped my items so they just had to move them all, they told me it all should be wrapped again but they wouldn't do it unless I paid an additional $200, so I declined. This was supposed to be a part of the quote already. As soon as they left my house I lost control of the situation. My belongings were supposed to be delivered on Saturday (6/8), I received no communication at all on Friday or Saturday while I was reaching out asking for updates from the team. The initial sales rep said she would get in touch with dispatch and they called me late that afternoon to tell me it would probably be a Monday/Tuesday delivery, not ideal but I could make that work. Well today (6/10), I reached out again asking for an update and was told "We don't know yet, maybe later this week..." MAYBE. I apparently had been charged $250 for the exact delivery date so they refunded that since they drastically missed this date but that's it so far reimbursement wise. UNACCEPTABLE. I am living in an empty house and know no one in the area to stay with and the company is providing no updates as to when I will get my belongings and is rude when I was on the phone with them. TBD on when my belongings will arrive but I will update accordingly once they are.

Update: It's 6/19 and I still don't have my items and I still don't have an update. I notified them I will be out of town 6/27/-7/4 for my niece's 1st birthday and they said if they try to deliver in that time frame and I'm not present it will reset my delivery time frame and could be another 1-2 months. They said nothing in the contract is binding and there is nothing I can do other than hope I don't reset my delivery window. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

After this occured we were on the phone with your carrier daily to have you delivered. We are happy to confirm that Mackenzie was indeed delivered on 6/26 the day before she left.

The "initial" charge per Chris was for a one day delivery. He offered me the 2-3 day service in which I declined. I was well aware that the movers were NOT conducting the same day delivery once I was notified the day prior to the move via dispatch. At that time, I was advised that the movers were coming between the hours of 2-6 vs. the morning hours. I called the day of to inquire about such, but once again....time misspent. Did anyone investigate and/or listen to the calls..... Obviously NOT, because this is ALL redundant. This matter of concern was submitted on May 26, 2024. As of June 6, 2024, I finally received some means of feedback. I wish I had been able to post screenshots. A grab & go move with mainly boxes & totes (majority which arrived not in it's original shape; ie scrapped, scratched, cracked totes & so forth). The only furniture consisted of a new headboard (which arrived damaged that was pre-wrapped) with bed rails, a loveseat and a sofa. Yet, it took (3) hrs to load. UNFORTUNATLEY, I could not be present due to the movers arrival time that was brought to my attention the day before because I had to retrieve my key to the unit. Nonetheless, Chris advised me that an additional stop at the storage was $50.⁰⁰. My invoice reflected the amount of $100.⁰⁰. Thankfully, I was present for the delivery service. The drop off at the storage took no more than 30 minutes, which was 90% (or more) of the items on the truck. I also followed the truck to the unit. It was (10) miles or less in distance with no traffic impeding the flow of movement. Once again, this drop-off took less than 30 minutes. It only consisted of app. (5) boxes, a wrapped headboard (later discovered damaged during the move), a loveseat & couch. Needless to say, it took (3) hours to load for a well prepped grab and go move that I couldn't be present to oversee because I had to retrieve my unit key. I only expected the movers to assemble the bed based upon what was told to me by Chris. Other than, the inquiry would have never surfaced. You've mentioned you reviewed my invoice and spoken to the movers, but once again, did anyone take the time to review the calls.....🤔. This is what was initially supposed to have taken place when I spoke with Derrick on May 15, 2024. As for him, he would continually blow me off. The "truth" has been recorded. I do NOT appreciate being lied to and I do NOT appreciate being taken advantage of!!!! Whoever you are that responded to my comment, do you care to provide me with your email. Then I can forward you screenshots and so forth if need be.

This same person wrote 3 1 star reviews. Here move was booked hourly and it took extra time (because she had extra items that she did not tell us about ahead of time). We will work with trust piolot to have the additional two reviews removed.

I had a great experience getting everything all booked and taken care of for my move. Chris and his crew went above and beyond to make it a great experience for me and my family. Definitely recommend.

Extra Mile made my move easy

As frustrating as moving is. I booked my move through Extra Mile Van Lines and my carrier was M&R Express. The team @ Extra Mile Van Lines took their time to go over all my inventory to make sure I wasn't going to have to change it, Darlene with customer service was very helpful and kind. The drivers from M&R Express came in packed my stuff, wrapped up my furniture and pictures. I'm going to be recommending them to my family and friends. They lifted a big weight off my shoulders. I suggest that you try them for your move.

Stressfull move made lest

I got alot of quoes and I didn't know what to do. Bit extra van lines gave me a good quote. I did have extra on pickup but they gave me a fair rate. the crew was amazing . at delivery i was shocked that asked me where everything would go and even the boxes. We labeled them for what room can they boot those boxes in those rooms. They made a stressful situation alot less. thank you.

This company sold me an estimate that…

This company sold me an estimate that was far from what they really charge us at the end. When you call to extra miles van lines a seller makes an estimate with you of the moving household goods. He confirmed you that if you don’t add anything else you will be charge the same amount of what your estimates said. They sale themselves as a veteran own company that does not use day labor workers but veterans to do your move. They guarantee a pick up date and you have to pay a non refundable deposit that after 48 hours of signing you can’t cancel.

Then the pick up date arrives and no one show up. You call the seller and no answer. Later he text saying that the driver is on his way. Next day you call extra miles van lines and no one reply but the seller text you “I can’t help you now, you need to talk with my carrier and BTW I don’t have access to your file anymore”.

2 days later 1 driver show up with a truck saying he will inventory everything in the home and then we will sign a contract. “A contract”? I already signed a contract. But no, that was just an estimate with Extra Miles Van lines and the driver is from another company and they don’t know anything about the estimate you signed with Extra miles van Lines that they have their own.

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: THIS COMPANY DOESN’T GUARANTEE PICK UP DATE, THEY ARE NOT THE ONES DOING THE MOVE AND THEY CAN’T CONTROL THE ACTIONS OR PRICES OF THE SUBCONTRACTED COMPANY THEY HIRED. AFTER YOU SIGNED THE ESTIMATE AND PAY THE DEPOSIT THEY WILL NOT RETURN CALLS OR DO ANYTHING FOR YOU. NO VETERAN WENT TO MY HOME AND IN MY OPINION NO ONE IN THAT COMPANY IS.

Yes, I did contact the CEO and yes he replied with an email and 1 call without any solutions and at the end he also communicated by text with excuses.
Very bad experience. Horrible!

Worst Company Ever

Worst Company Ever. Beware of this company. This Company gave us an estimate for moving two home and at the time of pickup to our house hold goods they had subcontracted Coast To Coast Company where they charged us over the estimated amount for only one home. Separate from the estimate the carrier never arrived on the date we had scheduled due to a broke down truck and the communication was horrible. Extra Mile Vanlines rescheduled the next day from 9am - 1 pm and the carrier arrived at 6 pm with no crew to load the truck. The Customer service from Extra Mile Van lines is horrible the manger yelled at my wife and called me a liar. Horrible experience. We cancelled the second home pickup due to the estimate not being even close to what the price was. This company put us in a position where we had to literally take what we were offered or leave all our house hold goods unassembled and lose our deposit $1500 and leave the household goods in our home 2 days from the next tenant to move in so we had no choice but to get everything loaded to the truck which they finished at 12 midnight. Horrible experiace. They supposedly gave us a $1000 discount and additional $200 and the price was still over the estimate for two homes initially estimated and now paying over the estimate for only one home.

Hello Carlos. I'm sorry about your experience. I've looked into your move details and spoken to the carrier about what happened. Let me clarify. We always tell the customer that we are a Broker (it says so on our website as well) and will be contracting out the move to one of our licensed carriers. In this case, Coast to Coast. The carrier was infact late for your pickup and for that we apologize. it was memorial day weekend and one of the previous jobs of the carrier ran longer than expected. As far as your price going up, we've received the final BOL from the mover and it looks that your move went up from $4150 to $4600. You had around 250 cu ft worth of stuff extra, hence the price difference. We infact gave you a much cheaper cu.ft rate than a lot of other companies. Our estimate also mentions that the final cost can go up based on the stuff you have. Again, we apologize if the move wasn't up to your expectations.
