Much like other reviews , poor communication still waiting for the lawyer I was promised to call me. I am going to ask my insurer to remove them from the legal protection as what's the point.

Truly awful company. It's been nearly a month now to try and get them to respond to a simple email. My follow up emails also go unresponded to. There's no point calling them because they won't put you through to the claims handler. They were utterly useless when I last had to deal with them (they were called 'DAS LEI' then) and are still a waste of time and space.

You dont know how good your insurance is till you have to claim. Well, my opinion is negative and my Complaint is over the deadline and still I haven't had an update other than the acknowledgement over 5 weeks ago.
I would never recomend this Company and shall be taking my Complaint to the Ombudsman.

I spoke with an advisor called Evren Özer. He listened to me. He gave me clear legal background in detailed but understandable terms. He listened and answered multiple times to the same question if I showed lack of proper insight. He did not rush to end the call and he even proactively gave me suggestions on matters I had not thought of.

We contacted our home legal assistance helpline who then arranged for us to have a callback. The service was very quick, easy to use, with very helpful, easy to understand legal advice provided.

Like all "insurance" in the UK, they will find any reason to wriggle out of their responsibility and you'll spend years fighting them just to get your insurance to pay out.

Update: I’ve now received more emails from ARAG, specifically from a representative named M.K, which confirm just how unprofessional and dishonest this company is.

Despite their own solicitor stating that my policy does not cover nuisance claims unless I own the property (which I don’t, and which ARAG knew from the outset), M.K. continues to insist that the claim was “covered” and was only declined due to “less than 51% chance of success.”

This is not a misunderstanding. This is blatant misrepresentation of their own policy wording. The clause on page 32 of the Urban Jungle policy clearly states that property claims are only valid for property you own. I even quoted it to them. Their own legal report quoted it. Yet they still try to argue that they can “deem coverage” where none exists. That is not how insurance works. That is financial misconduct.

To make matters worse, M.K. also claimed they hadn’t received my bank details for the £250 excess refund. I sent them on 12th March via email, which they never responded to. Only after I called them out on it did they finally process the refund—no apology, no explanation.

ARAG took £250 from me knowing this claim was never valid, dragged out the process, and only refunded me after being caught out. No apology. No ownership. Just more empty words and gaslighting.

Avoid this company at all costs. They are deceptive, dismissive, and incompetent. If you’re with Urban Jungle, be aware that ARAG is their legal cover provider

I submitted a claim under my Urban Jungle policy, clearly stating that I am a tenant, not a homeowner. My policy explicitly excludes disputes where the insured does not own the property, meaning my claim should have been rejected immediately. ARAG had this information from the outset but still accepted my claim, took my excess fee, and referred my case to solicitors.

By doing this, ARAG falsely misled me into believing I had legal cover, causing me to stop looking for alternative legal help to resolve an issue that was directly impacting my health. After weeks of silence and repeated emails chasing them, I was eventually told by Taylor Rose law firm that my claim was never eligible—something ARAG should have known from day one. They have taken my money under false pretences, wasted my time, and left me with no legal support while my situation continues to deteriorate.

This is not an administrative error—this is deliberate financial misconduct. As my insurer, ARAG should know their own policy terms. Instead, they accepted my excess payment despite knowing my claim did not qualify, failed to provide the legal services I was promised, and misled me into thinking I had coverage when I did not. Their incompetence and dishonesty have left me in legal limbo, with my health suffering as a result.

My claim was significantly delayed and ultimately wrongfully rejected by a “Claims Officer” who misinterpreted both my policy and its application to my claim. Despite specifically asking about urgent deadlines, ARAG failed to respond within their own standard Service Level Agreement (SLA), making their inquiry about urgency effectively meaningless.

One of the most concerning aspects was that, during a phone call, the Claims Officer (who sounded extremely condescending) initially insisted she was within the SLA before later checking and admitting she was outside of it. Instead of acknowledging the failure, she downplayed the delay by stating, “it was only one day.” This not only reflects poor claims-handling standards but also suggests a dismissive attitude towards time-sensitive legal matters.

This level of service is unacceptable, particularly when dealing with legal claims that have strict deadlines. I expect a formal review of both the mishandling of my claim and the misinterpretation of policy terms, as well as confirmation of what corrective action will be taken

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this company. They appear more focused on collecting payments than providing a fair and efficient claims process.

Despite prolonged back-and-forth communication that exceeded the legal deadline, my claim was ultimately dismissed based on an incorrect interpretation of the issue. Instead of addressing my formal complaint regarding an employment law matter, they misclassified it as a managerial appointment issue, which was entirely irrelevant.
