A lot of people seem to have the problem that they can't de-install, i had this too. You need to go to settings and you should see under a tab: minimalize, you have to change this to quit. It now will no longer run in the background and you are able to remove it

Terrible program. It can't be uninstalled. No way to get rid of it. Probably has a virus in it.

Something is wrong with the new MAC version. In the past use to work well but now is really bad.
Since the upgrade to Catalina, I have had a problem with "freezes" - sometimes it takes a few minutes or more and then unfreezes after that again and again, practically making it impossible to watch the movie. The thing is the image freeze but the sound NO is still going normal.
I can't figure out what the conditions are for this to happen - except that it's only started happening after the Catalina upgrade.
The worst are the movies high resolution - IMAX, BLURAY - with large GB capacity I can't watch it because of this.
Maybe it is time for a version update ...I hope so they will do it because I really love this player.
Unfortunately now I start to use VLC which is more stable and no problems at all.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'd be grateful for any feedback.

It is a virus. Uninstaller does not work, and application will keep running after you install it.

Skipping through videos is slugging. Scrolling through the library is sluggish. You can't right click anything except a playing video to get any options. Playlists don't seem to function in any real way, the listed "next" and "previous" shortcut keys don't work at all despite the UI buttons or right click option working. It's difficult to find any useful info through google as they seem to have paid to spam the top results with 5kplayer.com results. It automatically changes all file associations to itself without any prompt.

About the only thing I can't think of that it does as good or better than VLC is playing specific 10-bit files without stuttering.

I just download the free upgrades, now all the files in the download section are missing. Ain't this some crap. Also, I try to uninstall and it says the player is running. It's not.

fantastic to use surface as portable monitor for my 13inch mac pro!!!

Cons:
- It associated itself with all types of media files without asking.
- To revert the associations one needs to untick every single file type. There is no "select none" option.
- After being open a couple of minutes it made my PC come to a total freeze. No mouse, no keyboard, no ctrl+alt+delete, nothing worked. (I've never experienced such a freeze before) I had to shut-down the PC by long-pressing the power button.

My system: Win 10 Home 64bit, Geforce GT 425M

the biggest rubbish I've ever seen. Couldn't log out normally cause it was working somewhere in background despite that I turned off. Always.

I thought I would give this a try and do not like it. I have found now that it is impossible to uninstall, on the site it says right click and choose exit before you uninstall or it will not allow this; i have right clicked every possible place, but no option for exit exist.

Installed and uninstalled in 10 minutes.
Video quality is so garbage, they should change the name from 5k to 180p.

Tons of fake positive reviews, I guess.

Worked flawlessly for me was trying to watch HDR vids on VLC and it just kept on stuttering, but 5K player I was able to watch them without any hiccups.

Downloaded this, but when I wanted to convert short cip to MP4, I was expected to pay $30 for WinX. Somehow the word 'free' doesn't ring true.

This software has a lot of issues, on Windows 8.1 the quality of the video scaler is not very good, a lot of artifacts and ringing. Also, some unwanted crash.

It does'nt work

This app is a real pain in the *ss. It tries to take over your Mac - tries to be THE player of all media. And whenever run, it includes itself as one of your startup apps, WITHOUT ASKING!
