Requested a 15foot truck and vehicle dolly 3 weeks in advance to a pickup spot about 10 minutes away from me in the morning. They call me the day before pickup saying they cant get it until late afternoon. I absolutely needed it in the morning as I am on a schedule, and the best they could do is have me drive a whole hour away to pickup the truck and dolly so I can get it in the morning. Very inconvenient I regret using them and wasted 2 hours and a lot of gas/miles to even get the truck to my house but it was too late to try another rental company

They were very unprofesional!! Doubled Charged me! Called Customer Service and the dude was very rude and called me Uneducated. They charged me more than what was on my contract and said that I drove more miles than what was on the Dash when I got it and returned it. POOR POOR COMPANY!!!! I will never go thru them again. Terrible Staff and Terrible Customer Service!

I had high hopes for this purchase, but it didn't quite meet expectations. The delivery was slow and communication was lacking. On top of that, the product quality felt cheaper than advertised. Not what I was looking for, unfortunately.

We rented a truck and moving helpers for the destination. The truck drop off changed as soon as we confirmed the truck share pickup to a location 30 minutes away. Mind you were in a suburb of Orlando there is Uhaul locations everywhere. When we were dropping off the further location caused an overage on mileage we spent 30 minutes on hold to get that resolved. The movers helpers were contracted for a 2pm arrival time after calling uhaul, calling leaving voice mails and texts (another 45 minute wait time for uhaul) they sent a priority email to the movers no response. They ultimately contacted us around 5pm to say they'll be there at 6 after we've already unloaded the quarters of the truck. Which caused another call to uhaul yes a long wait time again to get the rental extended. They charged us the full 2 hours for 2 guys and now in dispute because they were there for 45 minutes. UHAUL WILL ALWAYS BE UHAUL A TERRIBLE COMPANY! But unfortunately they know they're the only game in town.

Uhaul, here's a joke. They say that open trailers cannot go out-of-state. That's BS because we've done it and and we come down to Gillette Wyoming, 2 to pick something up and want it to rent a trailer so that we could take it back with us without having to bring a trailer down with us, well, the guy at the main uhaul storage Place was extremely rude to my kid. And
Was disrespectful, and we haven't even gotten on the road yet. So we will figure out where this goes from here. Ohh, I do know is the u.Haul will never get a plus from me. I'll update as we go along

U-Haul is a corrupt corporation that will charge false toll charges on your out of State rentals with fabricated claims. After several attempts of trying to rectify this situation my voice fell on deaf ears, leading me to write this review to warn others of this unethical and dishonest business practice.
After many years of faithful patronage, I have decided to stop using U-Haul for my business and personal needs, due to their cold and uncaring behavior towards my predicament. It’s sad to see such a great company like U-Haul use spoofing to increase their bottom-line.

twice I have attempted a rental from the Fort Mcmurray dealers, first time, car wash location, no 20' truck even though I paid and reserved one, offered a replacement larger 26' at the cold shot location next set of buildings down the street. they close at 2pm, no drop box for key. I dropped vehicle off at car wash, literally the next set of building down, was charged $400 extra for the privilege of wrong drop off.
Second time, Ubuntu location, waited for 20 minutes in a parking lot trying to call - voicemail- finally call head office, they try same thing - voicemail. after 40 minutes I finally get in touch with someone, that treats me, the customer, like I owe him a favor for having a truck available. After being treated & talk to like garbage, I promptly had head office cancel and refund my order. The people at head office have 5 stars, the dealers in Fort Mcmurray 0 stars.

UHaul Douglaston Ave Jamaica Queens. Storage facility floods but they do not tell you about it until AFTER your belongings are destroyed. Then do not want to pay from insurance they collected. ALL EQUIPMENT was DESTROYED. There is also a RODENT INFESTATION, rodent feces alll over the units. Staff is unprofessional and rude behind front counter. I am going to court to recover property damages. This place is negligent, they are aware of issues and do not disclose or warn you when you ask at the beginning. A LOT OF DISHONESTY and then you cannot get a response. So court it will have to be!

J’ai pris la peine de louer d’avance pour un trailleur 4 x 8 pour mes vacance et ont m’appelle pour me dire moins d’une semaine avant mon départ qu’il faut que je monte a presque 2 heures de route de chez moi pour aller chercher le trailleur

I rented a car from them. They charged me a very high price. When I checked the rates in the rest of the market, it was much more expensive than others. And the condition of the car wasn’t even that good. I didn’t like their service at all. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Charged me three different times for no reason contacted person that rented truck to me she said she don't deal with finances. She said contact uhaul really so dissappointed and pissed off first paid 57.00 then go to get keys at 7am took an hour to get code then had to pay 97.00 to get code took fifteen minutes to get the lock unlocked then dropped truck off charged me another 20.00 so pissed off

I reserved a truck for 7/18/26 for 2 hours at 11am at a location near me to cut down on mileage. I’m literally moving things from 1 home on the property to another.

The next day, they change my pick up location to a location 50 minutes away from me.

When I called them they fed me some BS about the truck was already reserved months in advance (if that’s the case, it SHOULDNT BE AVAILABLE for anyone else to reserve, but ok) and wanted to get testy with me, so I completely cancelled my reservation.
I’ll get a truck and trailer from Home Depot before U-Haul will get my business.

I recently rented a UHaul in Chanute, KS to go to Wichita round trip. I informed the Uhaul customer service that I needed to keep it a few hours pass and they stated that was fine. I went to pick up the truck and the dealer hardly spoke 2 words to me. I noticed the fuel level was about 3/4 so filled it up. I did my move and returned the next day at 3pm. I knew I would have an extra charge..which totaled 54.00. But 4 days later, Uhual attempted to charge me 3 more times. When I reached out to file a complaint, I was first told that it was for fuel..but I had pics. Then I was told it was due to being kept longer..which is what the 54.00 was for. When I requested an itemized statement for the 3 charges which totaled over 193.00, I was given the run around with no straight answers. Luckily I already had my bank block the charges as fraudulent. I will never use them again. And apparently there are many lawsuits against them for this same thing.

This was, without question, the worst customer service experience I have ever had.

My problems started when U-Haul billed me for over 300 miles more than I actually drove. After speaking with multiple representatives, one finally admitted it was likely the result of a mileage reading error. Had I not carefully reviewed my invoice, I would have been charged for hundreds of miles I never drove. That alone is completely unacceptable.

What made this experience even more concerning is that after it happened, I went through the reviews for this Murray location and found multiple customers describing similar mileage overcharges. I obviously can't verify every review, but it was alarming to see that my experience did not appear to be isolated. At a minimum, there seems to be a serious pattern of billing errors here. If you're renting from this location, check every line of your invoice before you pay.

What happened next was somehow even worse than the billing error itself. I spoke with seven different U-Haul representatives trying to get this resolved. I was told four separate times that my case had been escalated to a manager and that I would receive a call back within three business days. I received zero callbacks. Every single person apologized, told me they couldn't help directly, promised someone else would contact me, and then I never heard from anyone. I had to keep calling back, re explaining my situation from the beginning, and hearing the exact same promise over and over again.

One representative, Kimberly, even told me she had submitted a customer action report on my behalf. Later, another representative couldn't even find it in the system. Jordan at the Murray location was initially helpful, but once the issue required someone to actually take ownership, there was none. Everyone simply passed the problem to someone else.

The biggest takeaway from this experience is that when something goes wrong, U-Haul doesn't seem interested in making it right. They seem interested in getting you off the phone. There was no accountability, no ownership, and no urgency to fix a mistake that never should have happened in the first place. After spending hours dealing with this, it became painfully clear that once they have your money, you're largely on your own.

I will never rent from U-Haul again, and I strongly encourage anyone looking for a moving truck to consider Penske or other alternatives instead. Their pricing is often cheaper depending, and they have a much stronger reputation for customer service. After this experience, I would gladly pay more if it meant dealing with a company that actually values its customers.

I left this experience feeling completely disgusted. Between the incorrect mileage charges, the endless runaround, the broken promises of manager callbacks, and the complete lack of accountability, this company showed me exactly how little it values the people who keep it in business. I cannot recommend avoiding U-Haul strongly enough.

Rented a truck for a week to hold my furniture while my home was being moved and set back up. During the week it rained 3 days. So the mothers attic leaked and several boxes and rugs where damaged. We bought the insurance u-haul suggested. It only covers their truck not my property. So I'm out the cleaning of four rugs, clothes and food that was in the boxes.

Reservation is meaningless. Expected me to travel 60 , miles out of my way to pick up trailer instead of the location right around the corner from me from which I RESERVED a trailer from 2 weeks ago. Would not even consider having the available trailer moved to the location I RESERVED it from.

My review is not aimed at the local dealer, who could do nothing about this. It is aimed at U-Haul.

A “guaranteed” reservation — their word, in their own email — for a 20' truck on June 28 at 1:00 PM. Truck released at 3:43 PM, because the previous customer had kept it too long. No call, no warning, no alternative offered. I waited on site on moving day, and finished at midnight instead of 9:00 PM. Billed in full: $578.28.

At U-Haul, the word “guarantee” is worth $50 — which you have to claim yourself, and which I still have not received. A sales pitch dressed up as a commitment.

We used U-Box for a small cross-country move (Arizona to Wisconsin) for my son's first move after college. We paid extra for home pickup/delivery and insurance, expecting a smoother experience than a full moving truck.

The U-Box was picked up on schedule, but the tracking app never worked — couldn't log in, upload photos, or see real status updates. Our own tracker showed the box had actually been routed to California, in the opposite direction, days after it was supposed to be delivered to Wisconsin. Despite this, we were told daily by multiple representatives that it would "arrive tomorrow," with no acknowledgment of the misroute until we pushed hard for answers. It ultimately arrived 6 days late.

Once it reached the Madison, WI facility, we were told it would be another 5 days before delivery — despite already being nearly a week overdue. When I asked if it could be prioritized given the circumstances, the representative became hostile and yelled at me on the phone. We ended up driving to the facility and unloading the box ourselves rather than wait longer. Staff there were dismissive, repeatedly said it "wasn't their fault," and offered no help locating the box among the lot. We found it ourselves and discovered the door hinge was broken — something staff admitted they'd noticed on arrival but never mentioned to us.

The only compensation was the advertised $50/day late fee credit ($300 total), which didn't come close to covering the hours spent on hold or the stress of the situation. To be fair, our belongings arrived undamaged, and the hinge was fixed once we pointed it out. But the total lack of proactive communication, accountability, or basic customer service made an already difficult move significantly worse.
I would not recommend U-Box for anyone who needs reliability or communication during a move.
