Orangeways sucks, dun every book their ticket... cancel bus for no reason within 24 hrs, slow reaction, delayed bus... worst bus company ever

They cancelled our line without any replacement and told us to go day earlier or day later. With accommodation already booked and connecting flight out of Budapest we lost not only money for the hotel but also we had to buy last minute train tickets for triple the price. Traveling day earlier wouldnt solve anything as we would have to take extra day of vacation and pay extra night at the hotel. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL, VERY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE!

I guess they are not from real travellers but fake ones. For us it was the worst experience ever as they cancelled the trip without providing any replacement transportation.

Cancel transportation and don't give money back!

great and such a helpful company!! I missed my bus, and they allowed me to go on the next bus leaving Budapest with no extra charge!!

I used OrangeWays from Prague to Budapest on 8th of November 2015 for 11pm bus.
They sold us the tickets from 55 to 58 yet the seat ended at 54! They sold us the seat that weren't even available!
You think they'll do something to recover. NO! Driver just yelled in different language and waved his hands to find ourselves a place to seat. Just a reminder he put his jacket on the first row, which is 4 seat! And when we asked to sit there, he said only NO and "Souvenir". His jacket was a souvenir and even if 4 of the travelers don't have a seat, he can't get his jacket off the seats!!! There was of course no one in the station.
Not enough, he smoked! inside the bus (I have photos) during the trip.
Orangeways knows nothing about the customer service, they are rude, they are irresponsible.
I hope their license for bus agency will be cancelled, because it is not safe to travel with such old busses and irresponsible drivers.

I took the Orangeways Line from Budapest to Krakow on 25 October 2015 with a fair amount of apprehension, having read some of the reviews before travelling. I'd booked it some months ago online for only 10 euros and, as I had no alternative way of getting to Krakow, decided I'd chance it.

I'm pleased to say it was absolutely smooth, trouble free and great value. I arrived at the company stop next to the Ferencvaros stadium at 630pm. The bus was already there waiting and I was allowed on straight away. There was plenty of room for bags. The coach was pretty modern, warm, uncrowded and comfortable. It left bang on time at 7am and arrived in Krakow around 1345pm, slightly behind schedule but in very good time considering fog and roadworks en route. The bus drivers were approachable, with 2 drivers sharing the driving. We had one toilet break en route. Best of all, the bus took a picturesque route through the Tatra Mountains, affording some great views. No problems at all.

I was very exceptical to get tickets from this company for my trip from Vienna to Budapest after reading all the negative reviews. I was expecting the worst. Nevertheless, It was so cheap that I decided to take a risk. I was pleasently surprise with the experience.
The bus was perfectly on time, clean, confortable seating, courteous driver and smooth driving experience . It was almost empty (maybe because all the reviews) and I didn't feel much difference with the train experience 2 days before from Prague to Vienna that actually was full of people and noise.
I got to my final destination Budapest 15 minutes before schedule. I have nothing bad to say, i will actually use it again.

Travelled Krakow - Budapest via the night bus.
I was very scared considering the bad reviews but it was very cheap. Also I randomly found an Orangeways counter earlier in my travels in Prague and asked the guy there what was this company's deal? And he said something along the lines of that things are improving and there should not be any further issues with the busses not turning up etc.

Well I arrived at the bus station and the bus was there early, my only concern was that there were no signs on the main board to say where the bus was so I had to go up to literally every bus and ask if they were going to Budapest. I eventually found it and the driver pointed to this tiny sign on the front window which said "Orangeways - Budapest". So just keep an eye out for it!

Yes the bus seemed pretty old and there wasn't much legroom but I expected that considering I only spent 15 euro. Drivers were polite and helpful. Arrived about 1 hr early! The driver used his mobile to call me a taxi because my phone wasn't working.

All in all, I'd give them a go if I were you! But try to have a backup just in case! (I had said to my hostel before I left that if the bus didn't come, if I was allowed to come back and sleep on their couch and they said yes .. because they knew about Orangeways reputation haha).

There's also another company that's fairly new called Lux Express which also covers a lot of Eastern/Central Europe routes so you can give them a check also.

I was travelling with that "company" from Cracow to Budapest, there was no information about the bus, it was delayed 40min, completely not comfortable and cold inside. Two days later I was travelling from Budapest to Zagreb, bus was on time, and newer but there was no enough place for every people who had their tickets! Don`t try this yourselves, avoid this "company".

after reading the reviews I was dreading turning up and no bus but it was there and arrived in Krakow from Budapest 30mins late but there was a lot of roadworks, the only gripe to have is the map on their website sent us the wrong way for the ticket office an easier way to the office would be to say it's next to Ferencvaros FC stadium

I booked Budapest to Kraków some months ago.
I only read the terrible reviews a few days ago & thought about cancelling but I could not find a suitable
alternative so I decided to take a chance.
I arrived at the bus stop this morning at 6.30 for the 7.00am bus feeling quite nervous.
Surprise, surprise the bus was waitIng already.
It left on time and arrived about half an hour late which was pretty good considering the traffic.
The drivers were polite & helpful & not drunk or stoned.
I'm sure some people have had bad experiences but I think it is only fair to tell of my positive experience

Out experience was not as nad as many written over there,but out journey with Orangeways wasn't a pleasure at all.
On First way,to Budapest,bus was late for 2 hours.Nobody actually knew,what was happening.My boyfriend,as the only one,git the SMS Message,that because od Technical problems,bus is going to leave at 16.30(It was supposed to leave at 14.30 fromCracow..).The drivers,were in out opiniom incopentent and Drive like thay wanted to kill us.But OK,finally,we got to Buda.
Much worse was out way back,to Cracow.We leaved ,as It was planned,at 3pm.The Adventure began at Slovakia,very close to polish borders. There was an accident on Road,as we suppose,and the driver has totally no idea,where to go..he was coming back,as in the circle,for 3 Times. At that time we were late for 1,5hour,actually we don't know,how this driver has done it! The other thing was the drivers..didnt have polish PLN,just Hungarian forints,and they couldn't buy petrol at any station..now,with my boyfriend,we are wondering,how the course,from 22 to Budapest,is gonna get there..really...theyre out of fuel...

The trip from Krakow to Budapest started 2 hours delayed for a starter and after some time in the bus the driver stopped at some creepy, dark gas station in Slovakia, not even in a normal city, there wasn't anything for a 30 km radius. We were told that the drivers were not paid by the company and they shall now wait for the bank transfer before going anywhere. We spent around 7-8 hours there, with only one person able to translate Polish to Hungarian (the drivers of course speak only Hungarian and don't care to explain anything to anyone). After waiting for a while, they told us that if the money doesn't arrive soon they will leave us there and go. After hours of calling the embassy in Budapest and Krakow, they started taking our luggage out of the luggage compartment and as a response to our protest said that we can collect some money and pay them. We were finally transported to Budapest with another bus, because the first one left. The journey was supposed to end around 4pm, we got to Budapest around 3am.

Would never recommend, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

The day before our departure our bus was cancelled, we were a bit scared because we read very bad opinions. Fortunately orangeways had two more trips that day at 11:30 and 19:30. There was no problem at all they were nice and we arrived on time. May be they had some bad trips and thats why they had very bad opinions, usually when everything is good you dont give any opinion.

On 23rd of July I boarded a bus from Kraków to Budapest. It arrived 1 hour late and was immediately being fixed. As I journey began we broke down 6 times before finally braking down in Slovakia. The driver could not communicate with us and suggested a mechanic was coming. After a 9 hour wait we had no choice but to abandone the bus and get 2 trains. The journey should have take around 8 hours but in the end it took 26 hours! I can honestly say that I have never been so digusted and outraged at a company and they should be should down immediately.

Please do yourselves a favor and do not use this joke of a company.

Not aware of orangeways' bad reputation I purchased a ticket online, for August 25th 2015, from Cluj Napoca (Romania) to the Budapest airport, which was supposed to make two stops: first to the Budapest airport and second to the orangeways' bus station. Mine being for the Budapest airport it was supposed to arrive there at 05:20, while my flight was for 06:30.
Well, instead of the airport I ended up at the orangeways' bus station and went no further. Based on information acquired after the incident it seems that it is like playing Russian roulette when it comes to orangeways, meaning that the orangeways bus will end up going to the airport when it feels like it and by no specified definite criteria.
Luckily for me there was a Taxi waiting for a client just in front of the bus, who was kind enough to call a colleague for me and, after paying 20 Euros for the cab fare, I barely made my flight.

This company subcontracts. This means no Orangeways buses or drivers are involved. I took a round trip from Budapest to Prague in August 2015. The buses are old and possibly dangerous (shock absorbers need changing, engine knocks). The roads in the Czech Republic are bumpy, and proper tire-road contact (useable shock absorbers) is a must. A friend was on another "Orangeways" bus whose engine caught on fire.

Staff: Two Hungarian guys who speak no English (I speak Hungarian, but not all of the passengers did). They smoke in the bus during the trip. When one was off duty he also drank a beer in the bus! He referred to passengers by the color of their skin. He flirted heavily with young female passengers. When I asked him why we were still waiting (15 minutes after departure time) he said that he was in charge and that it was rude for a passenger to ask such a question. Finally, these guys are running this route, from what I heard, every day. Making them overworked and underslept.

DANGEROUS and UNPROFESSIONAL!

The bus Vienna Airport - Budapest 08/08/2015 11:55 just didn't came to the bus stop, nobody answered the phone +36 30 880 5880, nobody answered e-mail for a week, nobody is returning my money paid 1 month before the travel. I had to pay more than twice for the travel because had to pay on the day of travel. Now I'm initiating the MasterCard chargeback procedure. Don't deal with Orangeways ever.

After reading some terrible reviews we were apprehensive about our journey from Zegred to Budapest. However the double decker couch arrived 15 minutes before departure time and left on time. There was plenty of space on the coach, good leg room and air conditioning. There was a delay on our journey of about an hour but this was because of delays going across the border, not orangeways fault. Considering how cheap this service is I would say it was exceptional value. Potential travellers should remember that people who have a negative experience are more likely to post a review.
