Disappointing Experience – Poor Warranty Service and Accountability in…
We built a new home with M/I Homes in the Lakeshore Parkway area of Saint Michael, MN. While the process initially appeared smooth, we quickly encountered multiple issues during construction. Many of these were brushed off or met with misleading explanations, despite seeing identical models built differently elsewhere.
At roughly six months in, we had about half a dozen one-year warranty issues. Several required multiple visits to fix—often because the builder sends unqualified subcontractors, leading to repeated disruptions. Repairs are only scheduled during weekday business hours, which is inconvenient for homeowners.
The warranty manager frequently mishandles scheduling, with contractors arriving unannounced, missing appointments, or not showing up at all. New homes naturally come with some issues, but M/I Homes’ warranty process is disorganized, frustrating, and lacks accountability. They appear more focused on downplaying or avoiding responsibility than addressing the root cause of problems. This approach not only erodes customer trust but also damages their brand reputation.
I would caution future buyers to carefully consider their warranty service experience before committing.
