The transaction went smoothly and without any long waiting times. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The vehicle was quite worn and the fuel consumption was significantly higher than stated (15l instead of 10l /100km).
I would recommend choosing a diesel instead of a gasoline engine.

Staff are friendly and helpful, car was great for my adult daughter & I. Easy to drive & we slept comfortably in our Lucky Rodeo. The car was clean, ran perfectly & bedding seemed brand new. We had the time of our lives.

We had a bad experience, even though we expected higher mileage and older vans. We rented a lucky Rover, and got unlucky from the start with an on/off grinding noise that got worse. We finally realised it was a wheel bearing and as we didn't want to risk it seizing or collapsing, called luck rentals. We were fortunate to be near a Toyota dealer but still lost 24h getting it fixed. We were refunded 1 days rental, but felt the camper should not have been given to us in this state. Also, toaster didn't work as it blew the fuse constantly. AC was leaking on the passenger side meaning wet feet for my wife, and an AC dial that could not be adjusted. While we expected a high mileage vehicle (ours had 500k) we didn't expect that it would be totally run down. Internally it was ok with newer window covers that kept it quite dark. The beds were ok and the camper equipment also ok. Internal table was cracked and bent so we worried it would break completely and we would be asked to pay for it.
In summary it was ok for sleeping but the massive mileage and wear and tear means you can expect trouble and thats what we got. If your on a budget and have time to spare perhaps that's an option, but we would not use this company again. We would rent something newer at a higher cost.

With over 500,000km's on the van already you can only imagine how dodgy this van was. Missing pieces from the corners of the windscreen meant that each time the windscreen wipers wiped water away, it poured into the footwell. Had to purchase rubber shoes to drive in on rainy days 😂. Only got worse from there, only one burner on the cooktop stayed lit, the bumper fell off on its own accord, Van is so top heavy from the bed up top that it is not aerodynamic at all. Only the slightest gust of wind would cause the van to fishtail if going any faster than 80kms. Chipped paint shows the Juicy Van company colours underneath from its previous hard life.

Le van était assez ancien mais très propre et sentait bon. Les draps/couettes étaient également très propres.
Le personnel était très gentil et agréable pour le Check in et le Check out.
Nous avons eu une fuite sur notre fenêtre. L’assistance ne pouvait pas intervenir avant plusieurs jours (fin décembre), nous avons donc réparé avec du scotch. Un rdv nous a été proposé quelques jours plus tard mais nous avons décliné pour ne ps nous ralentir dans le voyage.

Un peu inquiet des avis Google, finalement super road trip avec Lucky Rentals. Accueil très sympathique de Shantel à Auckland, important après la fatigue du long voyage et pour bien prendre la route à gauche ! Aucun soucis avec le van, pourtant nous avions radiné à prendre le moins cher. On n'attendais pas mieux. Rien à dire. Merci

check in was good, no problems at the check out. We had the good suprise to get a self contained for the price of a nonself contained :-) We had a problem with a door and they were reacting very quick :-)

Horrible campervan experience especially compared to our other experiences hiring vans through other companies.
1. Broken water pump started leaking halfway through trip
2. Waste water pipe snapped clean off and mechanics could tell it had a very sub par patch job done to it
3. Leaking roof onto our bed during rain
4. Had to fill up the oil twice in 2 weeks despite being told it was fully serviced and ready to go
5. Broken sliding passenger door so you couldn’t open it from the inside when you closed it.

Escalated all these things appropriately to Lucky who were defensive, patronizing and obstructive in discussing any reasonable compensation for providing ultimately what was a faulty product. Disappointing given we’ve only ever had great experiences in Campervans.

This was our first time with Lucky and understandably our last!

It was quite disappointing. Our vehicle was very old (not that it really mattered to us) but we encountered issues starting the vehicle which was very stressful as we were in very remote places on the south island. We also had one of the passenger seat belt not working which was not good for our passengers safety. Next time I will look for another rental company

When I take the van, the staff is impolite explaining the van how to use and impatient, and the van inside is dirty and have lice bites me, it make me the hand, leg and my body get red and very itchy, when I reach queenstown I have to go to the medical centre to see doctor, it is the most super bad experience in my life to rent a car, I will never choose this lucky rental again!

Decent car, however it hadn't been cleaned properly from the last people who used it. Found old food under the seats. Water tank wasn't filled, and the fridge we paid extra for didn't work properly. We contacted lucky rentals who were not helpful. We paid extra money for powered campsites to charge a fridge that did not work and lost groceries as well. Offered no reimbursement.

All the employees I dealt with were friendly pleasant and helpful.
The calls I made for any problems were dealt with no problems.
The video on how the van operates I would prefer in paper easier to refer to.
A clear explanation on how the battery’s work .the van charges the battery when driving I could have 2or 3 days before having to pay a plugin fee
This would save us some money!!

They we easy to do pick up and drop off the van was neat and tidy and had enough equipment to get by there were a few little things but they were minor and they were great help explaining things and organising ferries well worth a look if travelling NZ

DO NOT GET YOUR CAMPER FROM THESE GUYS!!! Makes sense why all their reviews are so bad!

If I could give 0 stars I would. The van was absolutely filthy and had mould everywhere. The bedding they gave us was too small and also filthy. The van was falling apart! We couldnt remove the toilet as it was jammed & they basically said "tough" and if we bring it back full, we would have to pay for it. We had to drop it off a few days early due to this and the lady we spoke to SHANIA was awful. She said she would provide us a 2 day refund and we have still not received it!!! We have called her since and she has not only been awful to deal with but also said they did not offer us a two day refund but she absolutely did! No customer service skills and just extremely rude. We have no proof of this refund offered other than her word so this has just left us with a bitter taste.

If you want a good experience in a campervan DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE GUYS!

I was skeptical reading their reviews but my experience was pretty good and I would rate them pretty high for their price point.
The team was very friendly and quick to respond whether be calls, emails, etc. They also helped with booking the ferry service from picton to wellington. We had booked the Lucky Rover for our road trip and took the full worry free insurance for peace of mind. We were surprised to see the variety of cooking utensils that came with the vehicle. The vehicle looked quite old but it did the job ok. I had to drive a little slower though as the vehicle felt lightweight and wobbly when driving in windy highways. If you happen to drive slower, just be sure to allow traffic when possible. Compact size of the vehicle was handy driving around and parking wherever we liked unlike big motorhomes. We found out the grey water tank was not emptied when we took the campervan but this was not a deal breaker for us. The stereo has Bluetooth option but the sound was not great so we did not use much (such a shame). Also, I would recommend getting your own cellphone mount as the one in the vehicle was not very good.
The beds and pillows were ok but we slept well (possibly because we were tired?).
We picked up the campervan from Christchurch and dropped it at Auckland and had good experience in both offices.

Paid extras - chair and table, chair recieved was broken from the first day, unusable and not checked as was obviously broken
Fridge latch was broken and wouldn’t seal, wouldn’t keep food cold properly
Rattle in dash/steering column every time you braked

The instruction email about shuttle bus between airport and lucky rental is great, so I don't need to find the information myself.

The service was great.
Check in and return process are easy.

The car seems old but all in good condition.
