Shantelle at the Auckland office made my experience great right from the moment I arrived. She was friendly and attentive with a genuine love for what she does. A great asset to the company.

Wohnmobil denn wir erhalten haben war recht alt aber Technisch sehr gut in tackt. wir hatten (Technisch)keine Probleme damit. leider dass Wohnteil war nicht ganz dicht, wenn es geregnet hat kam auf beide seitliche Fenster Wasser rein, an sonsteins war es alles IO. ich kann ruhig weiter empfehlen.

All good, booking was easy, pick up was quick and painless, drop off was super quick and simple. I be back 👌👍

In General we were happy with our Lucky Rentals Experience.

The price is good compare to the other rentals, our car was old (2006/500.000k) but good maintained! But to be clear - around 80 Dollars per Day + insurance is ok but not cheap for an „old camper“.

We had no technical problems with the car itself (we had it for almost 2 months). That was awesome.

What in our case had been better is the inside-check from one customer to the next:

1. We had an cut in the water-tube of our faucet. I try to manage that with duck-tape.

2. the water pressure of the faucet was way to high. So you use way too much water when you are out camping. (Not every campground provides feshwater.)

3. The speakers in the front didnt work (only in the back). We were lucky to had our boom box with us.

4. A good modification would be an „battey and water level system“. To know how much energy and freshwater do you have left, would be awesome for your time management - especially when you want to stay for some days far from the beaten track.

Thanks for having us - everything else was great! We would do it again with lucky rentals!

Really good experience after renting a motorhome for our South Island tour. Book with confidence. Special mention to Harry at the Christchurch office! Top lad, super friendly and professional to deal with.

Car was old (20 years), no openings, screws were loose. It was the only car without darkened windows, no privacy. Toaster was broken. Fridge fan was awful when car was plugged. Wind was coming in at front door. Backdoor was not fully closing. Car was not tight. Hundreds of moscitos entered it.

Prise en charge du véhicule a été très très limitée, le véhicule était sale et très vieux. Mais surtout la accompagnement n’a pas été à la hauteur.

I tried to book a camper, no campers were available in my price range so they upgraded me at a discounted rate.
I then had to change my hirage dates. And they accommodated with no extra fees.
Excellent customer service, camper was great for the price.👍

The caravan was not clean- Very strong odour from animal droppings found in caravan - Never again. We had to stay in a hotel as the smell was so unpleasant- No compensation offered. Never again

We spent a very good trip in new Zealand with our Lucky Rental van.
A special mention for Grace. She was very professional and friendly.

Great people to deal with at the Auckland Airport office. Very helpful and friendly, great service and Bertha our van was just right.

We booked a campervan with Lucky Rentals and experienced serious problems from the start.

The vehicle we received had clear pre-existing defects, including heavy mould inside the living area, water ingress in the driver’s footwell, and worn seatbelts that did not retract properly. These are not minor issues but basic hygiene and safety concerns.

After raising the problems, the vehicle was returned early. Although a large part of the rental cost was refunded, the overall process was unnecessarily difficult and stressful.

Given the condition of the vehicle and the way the situation was handled, we cannot recommend Lucky Rentals and would not book with them again.

I'm writing this review with mixed feelings as you can't simply vote good or bad. First of all, we had a great time travelling NZ with our Lucky Rambler. We got what we booked and it was clear from the scratch that the car would be around 20 yrs. old. Still there was a bit surprise to see that it had 450000 km on the meter. As someone else wrote, great marketing for the reliability of Toyota. Our car came clean except the front seats which had so many stains I guess you would never wash out anymore, and basically in good shape. There were little issues as the pole of the table which was loose and made the table instable and shaky - a bit difficult with full glasses - as well as the sliding door, which could not be opened from inside. Important was that we had no major technical issues as other customers reported. Obviously it's a wide spread practice in NZ to import worn out vans directly from Japan and turn them into campervans. Lucky Rentals is not the only company doing so and ours was apparently better maintained than others.
Pick-up and drop-off were smooth. The team is absolutely great, friendly and competent. I was in email exchange before we arrived in NZ, which was perfect. Seldom received such quick answers. This is worth an extra star.
Equipment was quite complete incl. bedding, pillows (sheets, covers could be rented or you bring your own), kettle, toaster, cutting board etc. Table and chairs were charged extra. Warm water was working great and we were happy to have shower and toilet on board. What I did not like at all were the storage options. Kitchen equipment is stored in bags fixed to the wall except one small cabinet mainly occupied by dishes. We filled the sink with food not stored in the fridge. For clothes there is only room under the seat and in the high top (which also served as bed as there were three of us).
Do I recommend Lucky Rentals? I do so to everyone seeking good value for money and travelling on budget. However, it's also true, that budget in NZ in December means a price which you pay for a spacy and comfortable motorhome in Europe. Therefore if you seek a higher level of comfort, you better grab deeper in your purse an rent with MIA or similar companies.

I don't know if it's the same with all their vans or if we just got an old one. But the van had a long list of broken parts, so we had to call roadside assistance several times for problems like a leaking toilet, a stuck window, a jammed door, a broken seat, and a sink that didn't drain properly...
The customer service for roadside assistance was good, and Lucky even gave us a refund equivalent to one day's rental for the inconvenience.
Anyway, I wouldn't repeat this experience as it was a constant waste of time during the trip and we couldn't enjoy the van as much as we would have liked, plus we had to adapt our route to be able to receive assistance on several occasions.

Friendly staff, good value for money, car was nice although not very new.

Outdated, worn, unclean vehicle; unfriendly employee in Auckland (drop-off location) - was compellingly looking for defects/damage; defective shower door could be repaired after visiting the workshop; lower bed not a perfect fit - often slipped out of the holder; poor value for money
