We used to use Kapwing to export video links and convert them into MP4 format. It used to be free, and we were genuinely happy with the service. However, when they switched to a paid model, we had to upgrade to continue converting links. That’s when the problems started. Shortly after upgrading, we were no longer able to convert YouTube videos at all.

To their credit, they did respond each time we contacted them, but their explanation was that due to a policy change by YouTube, they could no longer offer that feature. The issue is that we were made to pay for a service they were no longer able to provide. When we requested a refund, they refused, citing their no-refund policy after an upgrade.

We have since cancelled our subscription and will not be using Kapwing again. We found their approach to be unethical, as they charged for a feature they knew they could not deliver.

While Kapwing’s software may appear efficient on the surface, my experience with its dubbing feature was deeply disappointing and frustrating. I specifically needed to translate the audio of a video into another language using a cloned voice. However, the result did not use the original voice, and shockingly, the platform offered no option to switch to the original or even another AI voice. Attempting to delete the dubbed audio didn’t help, and using the undo function failed to restore the previous state—leaving me with nothing but the original video and no way forward unless I contacted their “Sales Team.”
To make matters worse, the pricing structure is discouraging. The next tier is significantly more expensive, yet the added benefits are marginal at best. This feels like a deliberate upsell tactic rather than a value-driven upgrade.
Additionally, the way Kapwing charges for minutes used in translation and dubbing is unfair. Minutes are deducted even when you're simply testing features or learning the software—without exporting anything. This penalizes users for exploring the tool, which is counterintuitive and exploitative.
I will not be purchasing this product again, and I strongly urge others to carefully evaluate their needs before committing to Kapwing.

The support is terrible. They take days to respond with generic, unhelpful answers, and by the time they actually do something, it’s too late. I don’t recommend this product — looking back, I would’ve chosen a different tool. There are plenty of alternatives that offer better value and real support.

Il sito funziona bene se a pagamento. Mi ha cancellato un progetto quasi terminato perchè il piano era quello free. Inoltre ho pagato la licenza pro mensile e non ho letto da nessuna parte che fosse rinnovato perpetuamente. Mi pare un modo di operare un po' truffaldino.

Simply does a poor job of removing the background. Takes away everything including the things that are not background. I explained the issue and respectfully requested a refund and Trey slapped me with the terms and conditions without addressing the root cause, so it’s not user error. Just a shite platform. Deceiving marketing; force you to Sign Up, when given information, forces you to pay. Waste of time.

Absolutely Irresponsible – Avoid Kapwing

I lost over a year of work and workflows because Kapwing permanently deleted all my projects after just a short billing delay. I was unwell and missed one payment cycle — and instead of giving any grace period or recovery option, they wiped everything.
No warning, no way to retrieve, no customer care.

This is not just an inconvenience; it’s irresponsible data handling. Most serious platforms protect user content, but Kapwing’s policies are punitive and destructive. If you value your work or livelihood, do not rely on Kapwing as your editing platform.

Plenty of alternatives offer far better storage policies, actual care for paying users, and won’t erase your work over something so trivial like illness. Kapwing’s approach is a recipe for losing trust — and your content.

They have an auto-renewal, which they do not notify you of. There is no refund policy, so I'm now stuck with a product that I will not use, and despite having canceled my subscription and not using the product, they will not return my money.

Kapwing deleted ALL my content after just 30 days. When I discovered this, I had to pay for their premium plan just to try accessing my old projects - but they were already gone.

I contacted support minutes after paying and asked for a refund since I literally paid to recover content they had already deleted. Their response? "We have a no refund policy that you agreed to."

Are you serious? Yes, I agreed to a no refund policy for actual services - not for paying to access content you already destroyed! That's like a restaurant charging you for food they threw away and then hiding behind their "no refund policy" when you complain.

Any decent company would show some flexibility when their own system creates the problem. Compare this to Canva who actually cares about customer satisfaction and works with users when issues arise.

Save yourself the trouble - these people just want your money and will hide behind policies instead of actually helping customers. Never using them again.

My son liked a short segment of a long video we saw on YouTube, and I wanted to extract that specific part. After some research, I found out that I could do this using a website called Kapwing. I signed up, but when I tried to upload the YouTube link, it said I needed a paid subscription. So, I paid.

However, when I uploaded the video, it didn’t allow me to proceed because the video is over 3 hours long. I immediately canceled my subscription and contacted customer service to explain the situation. They told me they would not issue a refund.

If they checked my account activity, they would see everything I’m saying is accurate. I feel like I’ve been misled and taken advantage of. If they weren’t going to support long videos, why take my money or at least not warn me clearly beforehand?

I’m very disappointed and feel scammed. I do not recommend this service to anyone.
