It was easy. I asked for what I needed and it arrived in two minutes. Mine was a small amount so I didn’t need to show ID but amounts over £250 require proof such as a driving licence or passport.

Easy to order and pay for on my phone, quick to arrive at my local Waitrose, but collecting required two visits. JLP: move forward into the 21st century and accept identification and payment cards which are on people's phones. And if you decide you can't do that then at least make it clear in the emails you send out that "payment card" and "photo identification" means old-fashioned pieces of plastic or paper rather than the secure digital versions held in Google Wallet or the Apple equivalent.

Easy to use and navigate, have used before and will definitely use again.

It was easy to order the currency, and the exchange rate was clear. Collection was quick and efficient.

I would have found it helpful if there was a note saying that to pay for the currency with a credit card may incur bank charges. I used my card inadvertently and had a £46 charge on top from my bank. The money did arrive on time

The sole important criterion for this service is to get the money to the customer BEFORE the start of the holiday. However, it was apparently sent Royal Mail by ordinary mail, with no specified date, and the post office left a note at Waitrose saying no one was available to sign for it. As a result, the money was not available before the holiday.
However, what was even worse was that no one in the John Lewis currency department had the authority to resolve the issue easily, as they could have done.
I suggested three options –
1/ that they ask the local John Lewis branch ( a couple of hundred yards away) to give me the currency.(someone from Waitrose could have taken the currency over to replace it the next day, when it arrived at Waitrose )-or-
2/ that they transfer my money to the local John Lewis branch so that it could give me the currency - or
3/ that they make an immediate same-day refund to me so that I could go and buy the currency elsewhere.
My bank account enables me to make a same-day transfer of funds to John Lewis’s, but apparently John Lewis currency don’t have the same ability.
WHAT SORT OF FINANCE COMPANY CANNOT MAKE A SAME DAY REFUND?
Apparently all three options were beyond their control or authority – incredibly poor customer service.
Fortunately, I had sufficient funds in my account to buy the currency from a different firm.
Had that not been the case I could have had real problems. I do not look at financial matters on line when I’m abroad on insecure networks so I was not even even able to check if my money had been refunded for over a week.
I would never use this service again.

I have the John Lewis credit card and shop regularly at John Lewis. When i went to the store in Norwich there was a very long queue and only one member of staff on the bureau de change.
The customer being served was ordering a very large amount of different currencies. Those of us forming the long queue found it very frustrating as obviously it took some time to deal with this customer.
We felt there should have been some back up.
