Severe Odometer/Mileage Entry Error – Check Your Invoices Immediately!
I recently rented a VW ID.3 from Thrifty/Hertz at Oslo Lufthavn (Agreement: 84-802468-2). The overall rental experience was smooth until I received the final invoice (Invoice No: 12605183857). The return staff at the airport made a massive typographical error, entering my return mileage as 45,829 km instead of the actual 45,029 km—creating an artificial 800 km excess charge! My actual 3-day travel itinerary was strictly local (Oslo, Lysaker, and Vestby), totaling less than 250 km, which is well within my 600 km contract limit. Yet, due to a careless typo at 07:07 AM during return, Thrifty wrongfully charged my credit card an extra 1,145.00 NOK (plus VAT). I have already submitted a formal dispute with full Google Maps Timeline GPS logs as irrefutable proof, and I am demanding that they pull the vehicle's internal telematics to correct this clerical scam.Warning to everyone renting from Hertz/Thrifty Norway: Always take a photo of your odometer dashboard both at pick-up and drop-off. Do not trust the staff's manual entries, or you will end up fighting wrongful charges just like me. I expect a prompt response and a full refund from management.

It's a shame I can't leave ZERO stars! They overcharged me for recharging the car - luckily I had photographic evidence so they had to refund me but it still wasted my time. Now, 6 weeks later they have just charged me 3664 NOK (£295GBP) for two slight scratches on wheel trims which I didn't do and they can't prove that I did! Norway was generally good but if this is how their companies treat tourists, I won't go back :(

Fikk tilsendt faktura på 5000kr fordi de måtte foreta en fullstendig rens av hele bilen, uten å si ifra eller be om en forklaring rundt "skaden".
Bilder de selv har vedlagt viser minimalt med skitt på mattene og at ikke noe annet interiør er møkket til. Helt umulig å få tak i kundeservice også, bruker evigheter på å svare.

Hei. Vi leide bil i Lakselv og ble beskyldt for en skade som vi ikke har påført bilen. Tidligere har vi vært fornøyde med Hertz når vi har leide bil i Alta. Vi kommer ikke til å anbefale Hertz til andre fremover eller bruke de selv med en slik kundebehandling som de operere med.
Når vi hentet ut bilen var det flere skader som ikke var registrert i følge vedkommende som utleverte nøklene til oss. Bilen var også møkkete.
Vi følger oss rett og slett lurt av dette selskapet og har fått en regning i etterkant. Trodde de var mer seriøse.

They dont keep the agreement what you have booked and payed. They just rip you of whit all kind of nonsense. We didt get the car either we booked… we booked SUV 4 x4 but got normal car. It was ok car but nog what we booked. We wanted higher car and 4 x 4 because of the roads… Ive heard lot of bad reviews about oslo car rental and unfortunately they are true. Im never ever going to fly oslo again and rent a car… I think the rest of rental agencies are even bad.

Avoid Hertz in Bergen i rented a vehicle and purchased COLLISION INSURANCE. there was a slight scratch on a wheel rim and they did not respect their own insurance contract. they charged me 4000 kroner

EDIT; Fikk rettet opp i gebyret etter 3 uker. Hovedkontoret rettet opp i dette.
Leiebilen jeg fikk var elektrisk og ladet tregt på hurtiglading enn hva som er normalt og ble derfor litt for sen på min 3 timers kjøretur.
Hertz la på et ekstra leiedøgn når jeg leverte bilen 11 minutter for sen sent på kveldstid. Ingen kundeservice eller skjønn å bruke her. I tillegg ble det ekstra døgn på forsikring for disse 11 minuttene.
Og et «lokasjonsgebyr» på 738 kr ekstra??? Finner på mye rart å legge til.
Enda jeg støvsugde bilen etter 3 døgn med leie og rengjorde etter meg. Leverte den renere enn hva jeg fikk den utlevert! Værsågod.
Ikke svarer de på hendvendelser per mail heller.

Very mixed feelings about this company. Rented a car in Bodø, flight was delayed, called in and they just put the keys in a self-service locker. Great service there. Car was good too.
Electric car, second day I made the mistake of turning off the engine waiting for a ferry with heating and music on, expecting it to run on the main battery. The accu died in half an hour and the car wouldn't start. Assistance was there within half an hour (I was still in Bodø) and was was very helpful.
Their 'Hertz payment' through the charging app never worked, so I used my own credit card. I even needed to help some other drivers set it up because they had the same problems.
Then, the last day I had a small hit and two scratches. Returned the car, and was the charge was more than my deductible of 20000 NOK. I waited for them to take it out of my credit card as stated on the bills, but nothing happened. Then, they sent a collection agency after me. I tried contacting me, but no response. After paying the collection agency (I preferred credit card because of insurance) and sending a bit of a rude email to them, I received an instant response if they could help in any other way.
Not a bad agency, but very bad customer service after the rental and high damage costs.
Worst customer service ever
I booked a car one month in advance. Yet on the pickup day we had to wait for over 2 hours at Tromsø airport because our car wasn't ready. The staff was more busy chitchatting with each other and was not helpful at all. They kept saying that the car would soon be here.
We returned the car a day earlier because we wouldn't need it anymore. Yet Hertz had the audacity to charge us with airport parking fees - which they refused to remove from the invoice (even though the staff told us to return the car to the same parking P3 where we picked it up). They said that I had to prove that I returned the car earlier - which is ridiculous because they don't hand you out any form of receipt when you return the car. Some sleep head at the counter probably just booked the car in hours later. Even after several email correspondence with Hertz customer service they wouldn't remove the charges. Moreover, they have really hefty administration fees on top when they charge you parking fees. This is a real rip-off shop! Never again!
Forvent å bli forsøkt lurt av Hertz
Her må du forvente at Hertz forsøker å lure deg.
De tilbakeholdt hele depositumet etter en ferie i Malta pga. to små riper jeg ikke hadde forårsaket. Ripene var såpass små og vanskelig plassert at det var vanskelig å få øye på de, men heldigvis hadde jeg et bilde som viste den ene av dem da jeg plukket opp bilen. Håper det er nok til å få saken lagt ned.
I tillegg hadde de kun en på jobb når jeg skulle hente bilen og jeg mått vente en halvtime i kø til tross for at det kun var to forran meg.
Jeg har brukt Hertz en del tidligere da jeg har hatt inntrykk at de er til å stole på, men det stemmer ikke lenger. Disse er ute etter å lure deg. Siste gang jeg booker med Hertz.

Ikke bra at det dukker opp høye gebyrer i etterkant av leieforholdet - det gjør det for risikabelt å leie bil utgangspunktet. Jeg tør aldri bruke Hertz igjen.

Charge more and do not refund the difference
I got a car reservations months before my trip. At the Tromso airport I waited an hour to get on the line to pick my car and they did not have any cars left! Because I was a gold member they gave me a "free" upgrade of the car but charged me + 1000 NOK additionally. Then the invoice came out and it is more than 300 NOK from what I have been charged. For more than 2 weeks no refund for the remaining amount and they do not even bother answering my email.

Leie bil 500 kr for 3 timer fra IKEA det er ikke sant. De regner +km. Det kan være til slutt svindyrt. Jeg betalte 600 kr i sted 500 med 100kr for 40km.
Hertz Sandefjord
Bestilte leiebil i god tid, og hentet denne fredag ettermiddag for å flytte et møbel i løpet av helgen. At bilen har visuelle skader er ikke så nøye for meg, bare det tekniske er innafor. Lørdag morgen startet ikke bilen og etter kontakt med Hertz, ble Viking rekvirert.
Bilberger åpnet panseret på bilen og utbrøt at dette var det verste han noensinne hadde sett! Polene på batteriet var fullstendig dekket med ett eller annet, så han måtte vaske med vann og skrape rent for å få startkablene til å gi strøm. Ble rådet til å levere bilen tilbake og for all del ikke skru av motoren. Tok kontakt med Hertz igjen, og de hadde ingen annen bil som erstatning. Litt snodig at alt var utleid på hele østlandet, men det var i alle fall svaret jeg fikk. Pengene ble lovet tilbake, men det ser ut til å drøye..

My experience with Hertz was absolutely terrible. I have rented cars from many companies in different countries, and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had.
The customer service was extremely poor. The staff were unhelpful, dismissive, and unwilling to clearly explain the charges. What frustrated me the most was the extra money they added without proper explanation. As a customer coming from another country, I felt taken advantage of. It honestly felt like they were adding unnecessary fees simply because I was a foreigner.
The pricing was not transparent at all. The final amount I had to pay was much higher than what was originally presented. There were hidden charges and unexpected costs that were never clearly communicated in advance.
I strongly advise others, especially international travelers, to be very careful before booking here. Do not be fooled like I was. There are many better rental companies with fair prices and honest service. This was a very disappointing experience, and I will never rent from them again.
