Great choice of cars, we found the exact spec and model we were looking for, at a great price. Ewan was our sales agent and he was really helpful, friendly and great at explaining everything to us and answering all our questions. A Disappointing Experience
**A Disappointing Experience – Fords of Winsford**
I recently purchased a car from Fords of Winsford and, whilst I’m pleased with the vehicle itself, I have to be honest and say that the overall customer experience was disappointing.
My journey to the dealership took around four hours, and I had been advised that a member of the sales team would collect me from Winsford train station on arrival. Unfortunately, I received a text message to say they were tied up with another customer. As it was raining heavily, I decided to arrange an Uber to the dealership instead. These things happen, and I was happy to accept that as one of those unfortunate situations.
However, things didn’t improve much once I arrived. I was informed that my electric vehicle had not been charged overnight, despite being told beforehand that it would be fully charged and ready for my journey home. I was advised that I could go to McDonald’s and return later, and was even offered a complimentary coffee from the onsite café!. However, neither of these gestures addressed the underlying issue. Ultimately, I had to leave the dealership with very little charge remaining and find a fast charger to continue my journey home.
What made the experience particularly disappointing was the large sign on the wall next to where I was sitting with the sales executive, which read: “Nothing beats that new car feeling… It’s Epic.”
Unfortunately, my experience could not have been further from that statement. Buying a car should be an exciting and positive experience, particularly when you have travelled four hours to collect it. Instead, a lack of preparation and poor customer service took away much of that excitement.
I appreciate that dealerships can get busy and that unexpected situations arise. However, ensuring a vehicle is charged and ready for collection, particularly when the customer has travelled a considerable distance and relies on that charge to get home, should be a basic part of the handover process.
I’m not looking to be unreasonable, and I want to be clear that my disappointment is with the service and preparation rather than the car itself. However, Fords of Winsford missed an opportunity to make what should have been a memorable day a genuinely positive one.
Sadly, the car purchase was a much less enjoyable experience than it should have been, and I hope Fords of Winsford take this feedback on board to improve the experience for future customers.

We completely appreciate your frustration regarding the collection arrangements at Winsford train station. Whilst unexpected delays can happen, we understand that being informed of a change to your arrangements at short notice, especially in poor weather, was far from ideal.
More importantly, we recognise your disappointment that your electric vehicle had not been charged as agreed ahead of collection. Ensuring a vehicle is prepared and ready for its new owner is an important part of our handover process, and we appreciate that this was particularly significant given the distance you needed to travel home. Having to arrange additional charging immediately after leaving us understandably took away from what should have been an exciting experience.
You're absolutely right that collecting a new car should be a memorable and enjoyable occasion. We work hard to deliver that experience for every customer, and we're disappointed that we didn't achieve this during your visit.
Your feedback will be shared with our Sales and Management teams, particularly around collection arrangements, vehicle preparation and communication, so we can review where improvements are needed.

I would have given 5 stars but we weren’t advised we needed to pay the deposit as a bank transfer instead of a card until we arrived to collect the car which meant we had to return the following day, I also found the waiting area grotty.

I recently purchased a MG XS EV from FOW and was very happy with the vehicle. Ellie the sales executive was helpful, informative, personable and answered all of my many questions. There was no pushy sales pitch which I have encountered at other car dealers. One disappointment was the quality of the valeting on the day I collected the car. I found a pencil and 10 cents coin in the coffee cup holder and there were several marks on the interior ceiling that hadn't been cleaned. Once I mentioned them to Ellie they were sorted very promptly.

We arrived to view electric cars and…
We arrived to view electric cars and wasn’t disappointed by the choice. After selecting a vehicle which we showed interest in, we were shown to a waiting area where Ellie came to greet us. She explained she was relatively new to the role and we went through the procedure for a test drive. Subsequently we purchased the car. Ellie was very thorough and polite with her sales advice, she kept us up to date throughout the process as there were a couple things required for the service which delayed us collecting the car. Regular emails were sent and Ellie completed the sale when we arrived to collect the car once again being very polite and courteous. Ellie showed a positive and mature attitude towards her role throughout the sale and is an asset to FOW.
I have given 4 stars as it would be nice for the company to offer potential customers a drink instead of us purchasing our own there at a cost.

Ellie, although new to sales, was polite, helpful and nothing too much trouble.
We did test drive 2 cars but the desk said we might only be able to test drive one. We didn't buy first car that we test drove so may have potentially left without a car. Thankfully, Ellie organised the second test drive and it was that car we bought.

Great Service, great value, would use again
Good value, great service, would get five stars, but unfortunately they didn't check the suspension of a vehicle before it went out. Their after-sales service is superb though, really helpful, paid all the money back for the diagnostics, repairs and taxis. Would definitely buy a car from them again.
