Very easy app to use. Always accurate. Great customer service. An issue at there end was resolved within 15 minutes while we tried activating one of our passes. Was very impressive. Great job.

The application process is straightforward. The App works very well. Also prompt response and assistance when I needed help to correct an error I made with my passport number.

Good experience

Experience was good but few Italy routes are not covered in this pass but its shown available on the app.

The app worked for seats most of the time and helped with planning a great deal. All on two of the nine trains the bathrooms were really pretty clean...

Very good way to travel ecologically

It's a good and ecological way to travel and visit more than one place. The app is comfortable. Booking seats was not always possible via the app. There a link to the right homepage would be helpful.
The app-team was very helpful when there was a problem. We could find a very good solution.

Can not be forgiven for data breach

If I had written this review in the winter of 2023 I would have been very praising. I did a 2 month Interrail and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I paid less than £1000 for 2 months travel on the majority of trains.

However, it is now nearly May 2026 and we are coming down from the abysmal treatment of our sensitive information by Eurail. They allowed the leaking of much of my personal data, including the very sensitive passport data.

Not only did it take Eurail nearly a month after they started to let people know before they emailed me, but the final conclusion took them about four months. That's 4 months in which people are worried about being a victim of identity fraud. Why was my passport information still stored in their databases over 2 years after I used their service? Was it not even encrypted?

At the end of the day, Eurail have not even offered compensation to those affected by this breach.

As I said, in 2023 I would have recommended Eurail to so many people, but this gross failing of our trust means I can no longer do that. It pains me to say that I thought one day I might use the company again. I don't think I can do that anymore.

Yes, this is a world in which there are unscrupulous people doing unscrupulous things to get ahold of our personal data. But why does it take this big a breach for the company to tighten up security? Those responsible for this massive failing of trust should be jailed.

Seat Reservations are the flaw.

The basic concept of Eurail works but the major flaw is that you cannot (generally) book your specific seats on most legs through Eurail. Seat reservations are generally mandatory. You are directed to go to third-party sites to buy seat reservations, greatly increasing the cost of the actual trip. In Portugal you can only book seats in-country at stations. We found that the first-class seats that we were entitled to were sometimes not available, probably because we couldn't pre-book.

Totally disappointed

Totally disappointed! No customer service chatbots only.
Tried to book my European holiday Trail route reservation site said all destinations where unavailable 3 weeks prior to my departure.
Arrived in Amsterdam signed up for NSInterail, no problem.
Customer service (no chat bots) went above and beyond beyond.
Trying to get a refund from EURAIL and they are trying to give me a voucher even though I never booked anything through their platform. I would not use recommend them at all!!!

Really good app and great concept, but I am raging about their ineptitude of losing very sensitive information of 308,000 accounts including the following detail. All they can advise is to change the password on every Internet account I use. Utter clowns!...

Competitive price compared to booking a multi-day trip, and offers more flexibility.

However they later leaked my personal data (including passport number and physical address) which may now be available for purchase on the dark web.
Communication about this is very poor.

Overall, strongly avoid.

Definitely saved a large amount of money for 2 months of travel.

Definitely saved a large amount of money with my 2 month pass. Trains were all pretty much on time. The train from Switzerland to Germany overheated but an alternative was there within half an hour which I thought was impressive. Only issue was reserving a seat on the app could be very frustrating and a few times I gave up and booked at the station. Overall a no brainer for me.

Difficult and no support for Eurail pass

We found using Eurail across Spain and the UK incredibly frustrating—and honestly, not something we would recommend given the cost.
What should have been one of the highlights of our trip quickly became stressful. Booking trains was unnecessarily difficult, and the app lacked clear, step-by-step guidance to actually confirm seat reservations. There’s a lot of advice floating around suggesting you can “just turn up,” but that approach caused more problems than it solved—especially when services were delayed or cancelled. Our advice: don’t rely on that. It’s risky and poorly managed.
At one point, we spent nearly three hours standing in a zig-zag queue, only to discover that the train we were waiting for required an additional reservation. Without that, we would have been waiting indefinitely with no direction or communication.
What made it more disappointing was that we had paid for first class, expecting a smoother, more organised experience. Instead, there was no visible system to manage seating or prioritise passengers who had paid a premium. We were even asked to move seats for others claiming they had first-class tickets—despite the fact that so did we. It raised the obvious question: what exactly are you paying extra for?
For the price, the service lacks clarity, organisation, and basic customer management. A few key improvements would make a significant difference—clearer booking processes within the app, better communication around when reservations are required, and a structured system to manage seating, particularly for first-class passengers. Without these, the experience simply doesn’t match the premium cost.
When you’re travelling in a new country, you rely heavily on clear systems, guidance, and a level of trust that what you’ve paid for will be delivered. Unfortunately, that trust just wasn’t met here.

Could not add Journeys to our pass while on our trip

My husband and I both had the same issue: we could not add journeys to our trip when we were in France. The help desk was no help at all. We ended up using only 3 of our 7 alloted travel days as the app was not working. I had good luck with our last pass in Switzerland and Italy, but in France it was a terrible experience. I will not be using the Eurail pass again. Beware there is not technical help when you are on your trip, you are on your own and will lose money,

When we tried to add a journey to our trip in the rail planner app it would advance to the point of point of asking what trip to add to (for us it was France). We would check the box for France and it would go nowhere. We both got into a dew loop. We ended up buying tickets for extra one extra trip and did not even try to go on other extra trips.

We texted with a person and sent screen shots. The only thing they could do was repeat the instructions that we already knew. It just was not working due to some sort of app glitch.
