Grenzt an Betrug

Ich hatte im Oktober letzten Jahres – wie nach Lesen der Bewertungen viele andere Betroffene auch – einen Mietwagen incl. Maut-Tracker in Portugal gebucht. Die Bezahlung der Mautgebühren wurde im Nachhinein über die Kreditkarte abgewickelt.
Ich erhielt im März einen Brief über die schwedische Post, der die Zahlung von drei Mautgebühren forderte, die ich jedoch bereits gezahlt habe. Die Gebühren dafür waren ebenfalls immens.
Ich habe daraufhin „Einspruch“ eingelegt und Beweise vorgelegt, dass die exakt geforderten Mautgebühren bereits beglichen sind. Angefügt waren die Kreditkartenabrechnungen, Schreiben der Mietwagenfirma, die betreffende Rechnung etc. Als Antwort kam ein generisches Schreiben, dass darauf verwies, dass ich mich über die Straßenverkehrsordnung hätte informieren sollen und meine Zahlung nicht autorisiert worden sei. Das Schreiben ging in keinem einzigen Aspekt auf die von mir vorgelegten Beweise ein. Aufgrund dessen habe ich erneut Einspruch eingelegt und weitere Beweise angefügt. Ich habe eine schriftliche Versicherung der Mietwagenfirma, dass die Mautgebühren von mir gezahlt wurden, angefügt, Kontoauszüge sowie Bankauszüge vorgelegt und angeboten bei einer möglichen Sprachbarriere den Text auf Englisch zu verfassen.
Als Antwort erhielt ich original dasselbe Schreiben, dass ich in der ersten Instanz als „Antwort“ auf meinen Einspruch erhalten habe.
Diese Firma versucht also nicht nur bereits gezahlte Mautgebühren einzutreiben, sondern ist in dieser Hinsicht mehr als uneinsichtig und liest anscheinend die Einsprüche nicht.
Dass eine Rechnung unter Androhung von Zwangsmaßnahmen gestellt wird, obwohl klar belegbar kein Rechnungsgegenstand besteht, grenzt meiner Meinung nach an Betrug und ist zumindest eine unlautere Geschäftspraktik.

Unprofessional company. Phone number stated on the letter doest exist. Refers to some strange website where logo doest link together at all. Looks like a scam. Claim was rejected within 3min. Still have no idea what was the fine for 2y ago and where is it from

I've paid and still got a letter

I was charged £4 5 months after my trip to Portugal. I've contacted the hiring company but they replied 2 weeks after my email. In mean time I've blocked their business on my card through my bank to save it from further charges as I was not aware they could hold my bank details for such a long period after my visit and to charge me anything they want without even letting me know. I still paid for the charge as it was done automatically and by the time I noticed the charge was already cleared on my statement.

However almost 8 months later I've received a letter from epcplc with some pictures which prove nothing. It just a picture of the car - that's it.

I went to the vialivre website and entered the car reg and the dates and it said that there is no un paid debt for that period. Which I believe it should be true as to my understanding I have paid.

Now from reading your experiences with epcplc there is no way of contacting them without providing your personal data. So I'm not planning on going back to them.

My question here is - what is the worst that could happen?

I would have given NO stars ⭐️ if that was an option. I received a collection letter on the 10/03/2025 for a fine dated 08/09/2024 nine months later. I went to their website to state my case and to my disbelief they don’t have an email address to send my query but instead offered a few pre ordained questions to use and a UK telephone number and believe it or not a FAX number. It’s 2025 and they offer a FAX number maybe a telegram service or Morse Code service should also be options so it’s made almost impossible to communicate or deliver myside or complaint. Laughable if it wasn’t my money!! I made my case through the limited options available and when I received on the 06.05.25 the refusal answer the price had increased by €4.50 on top of the original fee requested. It’s not a fraudulent entity but simply a company employed by the Toll operators in many European companies and governments throughout Europe for collection of outstanding tolls with very Excessive Admin fees. They answer to nobody therefore the have limitless power so they don’t offer a seem less process for the payee which are all of us. They instead offer Fax communication as an option to strongman my point and a telephone service which if you don’t accept their recording option they tell you to hang up. A terrible customer service company with all the power and basically no one to answer to. Strange also that EU countries use a UK company to handle their toll affairs considering the UK decided themselves to leave the EU. Thanks Alan

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless, I have been in contact with them I don't know how many times( I've lost count) for 2 apparently unpaid tolls in ireland from January of this year. I have paid and sent evidence I've paid. Received 2 letters with 2 fines for unpaid tolls today and I'm just fed up, the issue is not on my side as the money left my account and cleared the next day. I've contacted them again today and got they will look into it. I'm losing my mind with this crap. I won't be paying any fines as I paid for 2 trips as I do everytime and has never been an issue until now. Useless useless company

Je loue une voiture chez MOVIDA Drive on Holidays en novembre 2024, je paye l'appareil pour le télépéage, le montant qu'on me réclame à la fin de la location pour les péages....6 mois plus tard (donc il y a 2 jours) je reçois une contravention pour non paiement !!! EPCPLC : vous savez que les sociétés de location ne font par leur job...pourquoi vous acharnez vous sur les locataires et non les loueurs...vous renvoyez une très mauvaise image du Portugal (qu'on adore pourtant) par vos procédés.

møgfirma. Har den 01-05-2025 modtaget en opkrævning for kørsel på Slådalsvegen i Norge den 09-09-2023 det kostede 99,24 dkr + gebyr på 183,16 dkr. Da jeg så skulle betale kostede det 415 dkr. Valgte at betale da jeg ikke gider bruge min tid på møgfirmaer der drives af kratlusker og hængerøve. Få jer et rigtig arbejde i stedet for at snyde folk på denne luskede måde. Norske vej myndigheder burde ikke lade luskede firmaer udnytte folk på den måde. Måske man bare skulle droppe ferien til norge næste gang

Har idag, 29/4-25, modtaget en opkrævning.
Den er udskrevet 10/3-25, med sidste betalingsfrist 07/4-25.....
Det er ikke let at overholde den betalingsfrist !!!!
Opkrævningen vedrører noget kørsel på betalingsvej i Norge, foretaget 18/8-23 ????
Det er over 1,5 år siden ????
Afgiften er på 112 dkr.
Der oveni er der så er administrationsgebyr på 183 dkr ????
Der står så fint i brevet, at jeg kan logge ind og se et foto.... Der er bare intet foto at se...

Fraudulent activity- report done to UKICC

Paid a parking ticket abroad, got home received a letter from them asking for £57.80, the reason: did not pay.
Challenged them, provided them with all the relevant doc regarding my payment.
After a month received a letter saying that I did not pay a "surcharge" -whatever that means. Tried to contact them via email and phone to challenge this; impossible to do so, called them and the representative did not have access to my case.
Reported to UKICC.

Another EPC horror story

I received a letter from EPC too, a few months ago, for an alleged unpaid toll whilst driving in Portugal, and I made the mistake of paying up. This was before I checked the toll company's website that confirmed that I had no unpaid tolls to my vehicle. This was also before I read the Trustpilot reviews for this dreadful organisation EPC, and before I saw that this company had also featured on BBC's Watchdog consumer affairs programme due to it's illicit operations.

I have now received a second letter from EPC, claiming that I have incurred further violations and have more unpaid tolls to address. On this occasion, I checked the toll company's website that has again confirmed that I have no outstanding charges that need to be addressed. That's good enough for me, and proves, along with all the other poor experiences that the public have had to endure, and the advice given on Watchdog, that EPC are just scammers, despite all their claims to the contrary. I will not be paying.

I suppose now, like a number of other people have reported, that because I am on EPC's system, they will just try this scam with me again and again.

I have just received a request for £44.73 for a 0.53 cent toll charge they said I did not pay in March 2024 but I did pay the hire company as it was over 1 year ago and have had no notification from anyone even though the Hire company had all my details and credit card number this has to be a scam and they are bullying people into paying by threats they are absolute crooks

Unverschämte Gebühren und verzögerte Brief Zustellung

Ich habe in November 2024 einen Mietwagen in Portugal gebucht und mit diesen Mietwagen auch diverse Fahrten auf mautpflichtigen Autobahnen durchgeführt. Nach Rückgabe des Fahrzeugs habe ich eine Abschlussrechnung der Mietwagenfirma erhalten, wo auch eine Mautabrechnung enthalten war und diese wurde auch regulär über meine Kreditkarte eingezogen. Damit war das Thema für mich erledigt.

Tatsächlich habe ich aber in der letzten Woche (17.04.2025) einen Brief von EPCplc im Briefkasten, wo ich aufgefordert werde einen Betrag von 52,93€ zu zahlen, der sich aus 2,95€ Maut und Gebühren in Höhe von 49,98€ zusammensetzen. Zahlung fällig am 13.04.2025! Der Brief selber hat kein Datum. Der Brief wurde durch die schwedische Post zugestellt. Ich hatte also nie die Möglichkeit fristgerecht zu zahlen. Dass die Forderung gar nicht erst hätte entstehen dürfen ist ein anderes Thema. Die Mietwagenfirma sagt, sie hätten versucht meine Kreditkarte zu belasten und das wäre fehlgeschlagen. Meine Kreditkarte war zu jeder Zeit gedeckt. Hätte man mich darüber informiert, hätte ich die 2,95€ natürlich sofort beglichen.
Um weitere Mahnkosten aus dem Weg zu gehen, habe ich die Zahlung heute (21.04.2025) beglichen. Der Zahlbetrag ist auf 63,43€ angestiegen. Eine Unverschämtheit. Wenn man sich hier die Bewertungen durchliest, scheint das ganze aber System zu haben.
Ich kann nur jeden vor dieser Firma warnen.

This must be a scam! A year after a visit to Portugal I have received a notice from Sweden to pay a fine for not having paid toll. Toll charges Eur 5,50 and administrative charges 83,30 eur! Trying to pay this fine I have gotten a warning from my bank that I was trying to pay an protugal based fine to an Hungarian bank?? So I stopped the payment process.

, zijn op dit moment geen openstaande Tol-bedragen op het genoemde kentekennummer. Dus deze hele case is een totale scam én alle Tol is al betaald en er staan geen bedragen meer open.
De Boetenota 35117-100225902 van vialivre zal niet worden betaald. (Bovendien is het volkomen van de pot gerukt om 5,50 euro aan openstaande tolbedragen te gaan belasten met 83,30 aan administratiekosten.) De datums op de notificaties kloppen niet en het dag stempel van de notificatie was al verlopen bij aankomst.
Daarnaast getracht e.e.a. netjes te betalen; helaas staat mijn bank dit niet toe; Het betreft een Duitse bank van een Portugese organisatie die betaling gaat doen op een document afkomstig uit Zweden op een Hongaarse bank!!!!!!!

Zahlungsaufforderung unbegründet

Zahlungsaufforderung verspätet erjhalten umgehnd bezahlt dann 1 Monat später letzt zahlungsaufforderung , kurz danach erneute Vorschreibung einer ander Mautgebühr am selbsen Tag, obwohl wir bei der Autovermietung ein all inclusive gebucht haben

Anmeld det til politiet.
Sommeren 2024 var vi på bobiltur gjennom Ungarn med bobil kategori C1 over 3500Kg. Gyldig transit bilett ble kjøpt fra Ungarske HU-GO selskapet, betaling og trasee gjennom Ungarn ble konfirmert. Fikk noen måneder etterpå en rekommendert sending - fra EPCplc, hvor de krevde inn en bot , tilsynelatende på vegne av ungarske veimyndigheter, for manglende betalt oblat. Det fulgte med et bilde av vår bobil som var IKKE korrekt registrert av Ungarske myndigheter. Det var registrert som bil kategori B, under 3500kg.
Boten fra EPCplc ble betalt fordi vi ikke fant kvitteringen der og da, i etterkant fant vi kvitteringen, sendte den til EPCplc med krav om å refundere innbetalt beløp.
EPCplc krevde kopi av vognkort, for å se at data til bobilen var riktig registrert, det ble tilsendt. Selvfølgelig bobilen ble riktig registrert.
Det går ikke an å kjøpe oblat til biler kategori B, under 3500Kg på nettsiden til Ungarske HU-GO, de selger bare oblat for biler over 3500Kg!
EPCplc sier som regel, send klage til EPCplc, men det er bare en måte å trenere tiden og vri seg unna ansvaret!
Vi sendte mange klager til EPCplc, og til Ungarske veimyndigheter, iflg. Ungarske myndigheter, EPCplc hadde ansvaret.
EPCplc valgte å CANCELLERE saken i April 2025, og BEHOLDE PENGENE SELV, i stedet for å returnere tilbake pengene for innbetalt bot.
Boten var i utgangspunkt feil fordi vi hadde dokumentasjon, kvittering på transit billet!
DETTE ER SVINDEL FRA EPCplc derfor må anmeldes til politiet.

Klager har blitt sendt til deres E-mail mange ganger tidligere !!!
Dere har allerede mottatt fra meg kvittering bevis for betalt transit billet gjennom Ungarn på gjeldende tidspunkt.
Dere har undersøkt allerede saken flere ganger, nå vil jeg ha tilbake mine penger.
Ikke trener tiden, EPCplc.

ALT ANNET ER SVINDEL FRA DERES SELSKAP, EPCplc !
Svindel anmeldes til politiet.

I have a upcoming trip to London and…

I have a upcoming trip to London and wanted to register my non uk registration campervan, I am not great at online stuff ect, I emailed EpcPlc and got a very helpful adviser called Derya, she was so helpful and sorted everything for me, She was just brilliant, I was so lucky to have gotten her as it made the whole process seamless.

Now no more worries, just plan what to see while in London.

Five star experience.

Seems I am not the only one here…

Seems I am not the only one here getting a letter from Sweden WITHOUT a post stamp. The date of the letter is March 10th, but I only received it on April11th. This is totally unprofessional!!!
For such kinds of post you absolutely need to have a post stamp (that shows the actual date)!!!
This strange journey of our letter that was over 28 days obviously increased the amount of our fine.
Oh, and please dont start replying "postal delivery times are beyond our control". Yes, I know they are. But the fact that there is no post stamp and the fact that we are not the only ones this has happened to is extremely FISHY!!!

Fines increased from £94 to £610

We received 2 PCNS in November 2024 for allegedly not having a valid e vignette in Hungary even though we had no idea we needed one because we drove from Bratislava for ONE day and we avoided tolls…

We did NOT receive any fine directly from the Hungarian authorities giving us the opportunity to pay the fine so how could you lawfully add 50% administration charges on top when we hadn’t had the option to pay the fine?

There was no need for the fine to be passed onto yourselves because we hadn’t been given the opportunity to pay it?

We had NO IDEA we needed a vignette. We have made several appeals, called this company 18 times, sent 8 emails but we kept receiving the same generic response demanding payment.

On 02/01/2025 we spoke to Stuart Hendry the legal manager and solicitor for the company. We explained our genuine situation and he told us he would place the case on hold, read our communication and speak to the Hungarian authorities to ask whether we could just pay the fine amount without any administration costs on top. He said someone would contact us but they never did so we assumed the case was closed down because we received no more letters, emails or communication but clearly this is part of their unlawful business operation to then be able to increase the fines by more than triple and incorrectly and unfairly accuse you of not paying.

DO NOT TRUST WHAT EPC PLC TELL YOU OVER THE PHONE BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE TRUTH. THEY LIE TO YOU, MAKE YOU BELIEVE THEM THEN BACKTRACK IN EMAILS AND INCREASE THE FINES.

Almost 4 months later we have now received more fines from Trace debt recovery asking for approximately £610 to be paid to them so somehow the fines of £47.24 and £47.15 have increased by £510.14 without warning? What legal authority do you have to do this?

EPC PLC did not send anymore letters or follow their own outlined procedures. EPC PLC have now told me i am not allowed to call and speak to their customer service team because they cannot help me and once again demanding payments over £500

I will not be tolerating any further unlawful harassment from Trace debt recovery. I will be updating action fraud, contacting my local MP and reporting both EPC PLC to the police because now you are demanding close to £1000 and you will not provide any proof or evidence to backup the fines and PCNs you are sending and no one will speak to us and my emails and correspondence are NOT been acknowledged

The burden of proof lies with you (EPC PLC) to prove these fines are legitimate, to prove we drove on a road that required a valid e vignette because the images on the PCN could have been taken on any road anywhere in Europe. I need to see proof there was sufficient signage in English and that it was visibly clear to English drivers, driving in a right hand drive vehicle, that they needed a e vignette before driving onto certain roads because we did not see any toll booths or signage or anyone asking us to buy a vignette we just simply continued on the road and we had no idea we had done anything wrong until we received this fine 5 months later.

This is the worst, most frustrating and unprofessional company we have ever dealt with and I don’t understand how people can sleep at night when they work for companies who endeavour to scare, intimidate and frighten vulnerable people into paying an excessive amount of money. Surely you must have empathy?

I have built a comprehensive case against EPC so if you wish to go down the lengthy and costly litigation process to enforce a foreign judgement against us then we will happily be there in court to defend our case, show all our evidence and correspondence and the judge will see you have not followed your own procedures or acknowledged any of our correspondence and the judge will see you have not acted lawfully or got any legal authority to be demanding almost £1000 and our solicitor has confirmed no UK judge would rule this case in your favour.

If you can provide clear proof (as requested on the email on 27/11/2024) that we drove on a road in Hungary that required an e vignette and there was clear signage (in English) and that it was made clear to English drivers, driving in a right hand drive vehicle, that an e vignette was required before driving on the road then i will accept we made a mistake so we will pay the fines of £47.15 and £47.24 directly to the Hungarian authorities but we will not be paying any ridiculous administration costs to yourselves because I will not be paying any money to fund this unfair business operation you have going on because I don’t want to fund your business and risk anymore vulnerable people becoming frightened and intimidated into paying your ridiculous administration costs that you have no legal authority to be charging.
