It was easy to sell my car through carsales. I tried Facebook marketplace at first but was very wary of scammers so I decided carsales might be the safer option. I'm convinced I must now hold the record for selling my car. Within seconds of submitting my ad I received a message which I thought was going to be carsales telling me my ad had been accepted. In fact it was a gentleman who test drove and bought the car that same day. We agreed that he would pay through carsales for both his protection and mine and we were both very happy with how seamless the transaction was.

This experience was really awful. We took the car to the inspection and while we had an estimate of $10,400 - $11,400 we knew it would be a little lower because there was some damage to the side which we couldn’t outline in the process. The man from the car yard Ben took the car for the inspection and said the car was in really great condition and he was surprised by how good it looked but they had to get their internal team to review the damage. He came back and told us the damage would be $3,000 to fix even though I had already received a seperate quote for $900. He then told us that carsales charges a $500 fee for not having an additional key and a 6 month service would be due the next week so he said they would also have to charge us $500-$800 for a service even though it wasn’t yet due. They then said they couldn’t give us a final price but they would call me with one. Ben then text me and said their final offer on the car was $6,500. I then went back to him and said if I personally rectified all of the issues would he take it back to the original price and he said no because he forgot to mention the dealership would have to replace the tires so I would have to replace them to. I then checked the carsales terms and conditions regarding the charge of $500 for an additional key and I was told this charge didn’t exist. Ben from the car yard then agreed that he couldn’t find this specific fee on the website. The whole thing honestly felt like a scam and I was suddenly only being offered $6,500 for a perfectly good car that I purchased for $19,000 18 months ago.

Did not appreciate the condition of car and try to find fault such as electronic dampers needs to be replaced. Car dont have electronic dampers after contacting fyshwick subaru service team. Offer was 18k but after inspection he offered 16k to replace left front electronic dampers. Went into honda to have a fave to face conversation did not acknowledge me and try to act like he is busy

Easy and safe site to use. Made the experience less stressful.

Firstly, the cheapest option i have is over $400 to list my car for sale. After finally coming to grips with this whilst feeling sick about this massive price gouge, ive attempted to list my car only to hit two roadblocks. ive ran out of characters and cannot write anymore in the description, and my photos all have to be under 10mb each. So your telling me for over $400 you still restrict my words and photos. What a joke. And to think it kept trying to steer me to the $700 package. Carsales is a RIPOFF!!

Even the search when buying is now ruined by AI garbage that doesn't show all the cars in stock due to some sort of"glitch"

Instant offer of $28,500, put in registration number and spat out the figure. Took in to the business that made the offer for an inspection, to be told 90 mins later that the instant offer was for a different model Pajero, and the offer is now $21,750 due to rear bushings needing replacing and leaking EGR which was (surprise surprise) not picked up on the log book service 2 weeks prior.
Whilst waiting, I could hear everything the bloke was saying to his offsider about how they were going to go out there with a smile on their face and tell them why it’s worth the revised price, they wouldnt be here if they didn’t need to sell asap, and what to do if I got angry.
Could not have been more unprofessional and tacky. Exactly why car sales people have the reputation they do.
The experience was unsurprising, albeit still disappointing.

So quick and easy. Excellent. Highly recommended for a trouble free, scam free sale.

I had a very keen price on my car and I was getting enquiry within an hour of the ad going live. Could have sold it a dozen times.

They put a -$400 because I have a dog even that my dog never went inside my car hahahaha this is a joke

Very easy to set up, fast and secure transfer of funds

After being seriously lowballed on a trade in from Mazda face to face after their online valuation was $5k more, it was great to see how professional this service was. The car was in great condition and I felt the price offered was correct for the sale and the ease of transaction was fantastic to see.

Initially it said for sales under $100k and then all of a sudden I was able to use it and it worked like magic.

Very smooth and seamless transaction. There were a couple of scammers though. Watch out

Pay by Carsales worked very well. It was easy to set up as a seller, and the payment upon the sale arrived almost instantaneously. The fact that I could see that the buyer had loaded their wallet with the money a couple of days before the planned handover date, gave me confidence that the buyer was genuine.
