Unfortunately, renting a car from Avis Akureyri left a negative impression.

We had to deal with several problems. First, we had a flat tyre and had to change the car. The spare tyre in the replacement car was a summer tyre instead of a winter tyre! The mechanic who changed the tyre confirmed that it is unacceptable and dangerous to drive with summer tyres in December in Iceland.

Secondly, when we returned the car, we were charged for an extra day, even though we returned it on time. Booking reference 396590110. We are currently trying to resolve this issue with the company. When we returned the car, the office was closed, and we were simply told to leave the keys in the return box.

As a result of having to change cars and deal with the spare tyre issue, we lost half a day of our vacation.

I advise future Avis Akureyri customers to be more careful when receiving a car, check the condition of the spare tyre, and carefully monitor charges to their account.

Habe einen Wagen in Deutschland gebucht für meinen Urlaub. Bekam den Wagen am Flughafen und wollte mit diesem einen Roadtrip machen. Erstens war der Wagen nicht vollgetankt und es wurde noch eine Gebühr veranschlagt, die schon im Vorhinein beglichen, da sie mit gebucht war. Also in der nächsten Stadt, diese Punkte bemängelt und es wurde auch richtig gestellt. Da dachte man noch man kann mit Avis wirklich arbeiten.
Beim nächsten Stop ist uns aufgefallen, dass die Reifenprofil komplett abgefahren waren und man schon die Karkasse des Reifens sah. Also wieder zu Avis... Yeahy, so möchte man seinen Urlaub verbringen... Die Kollegen dort haben uns einen anderen Wagen gegeben. Jedoch hatten wir den vorigen Wagen gerade voll getankt. Habe dies dann den Kollegen gesagt, dass man die vorigen Wagen nicht voll getankt bekommen habe und wie man nun das Problem lösen könne. Darauf bekam man nur die Antwort, das seie nicht ihr Problem. Der jetzt zur Verfügung gestellt, sei ja voll getankt. Ich solle das bei der Abgabe klären.
Bei der Abgabe haben wir den Wagen voll getankt zurückgegeben und hatten das Thema Avis für uns abgeschlossen.
Aber dann war auf der Kreditkartenabrechnung wieder die Gebühr vom Anfang, die also nicht zurückgerufen wurde wie es versichert wurde (schriftlicher neu Vertrag vorhanden).
Dann hier in Deutschland die Servicestelle angerufen um das Thema Gebühren zu klären. Mal sehen ob es funktioniert.
Dann habe ich den Vorfall geschildert und dann kamen wieder die Worte, da können wir ja nichts für war ja eine andere Stelle. Ja, aber ich habe den Wagen über euch gebucht und ihr seid ein Unternehmen.
Auf jeden Fall wie wieder Avis. 2 Tage Urlaub verloren und nur Stress sogar dann noch, wenn man mit dem Thema einfach durch war.

I Pre booked through travel agent Hirecar pick up Auckland drop of wellington. Paid for full insurance no excess ect. Hire Car was fine all prearranged to drop of car in wellington airport at 5 pm and arrived early circa 3 pm no one at drop of point parked up went into airport terminal and eventually found desk and was told to just leave keys with desk I asked for the car to be checked over to ensure no extra charges ect the person at the desk said that this was not possible and I also had to pay a 53 NZD airport tax which I paid via my debit card however Later on an additional 37nzd has also been debited from my account with no explanation or correspondence from budget . How are companies like this just allowed to take money from your account without any explanation.I know it’s probably in there terms and conditions but they should provide a reason for the deductions Not happy

Ayant louer un vehicule sur aeroport orly Paris de 18 jours ;a la reception personne ne vient controler l état du véhicule , apres plusieurs photos que je fais part à la reception on me dit de ne pas m inquieter lors du retour j'aurais pas de problème mème si j avais pris une assurance au retour on me dit pas de problème c est ok ,résultat 225 € 2 mois plus tard ! on ne m'a jamais fait savoir le pourquoi et la cause de cette facture ;pour moi ce sont des brigants voleur escrots voilà ou j'en suis ne pas faire confiance à ce groupe qui arnaque les gens à chaque fois !

Please NEVER use this company they are the worst. We had a flat tire in the US which we were told by this company we were covered for and would only have to pay 150 to 250 dollars in tow fees as for some reason they can't fix a flat tire at the roadside? When I phoned the reservations number on a number of times on the 28th and 29th September I was reassured wee were covered for all damage but would only have the tow fee no impounding fees or anything and the invoice would be emailed to me as I booked via a third party on booking.com and not on avis budget website. I then was alerted by my bank who told me they were trying to take £2669 from my credit card. I phoned budget who did not even understand their own fees and has to contact the US office for clarification this was even a legitimate bill. On the invoice they had even charged late fees despite having the car back earlier than the agreed end of the rental and then never contacting me about the invoice. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY they are just a bunch of criminals

I have been charged for an extra day which is impossible as I wasn’t even in the state.. they have not yet returned my bond after 10 phone calls requesting my return of bond, car was immaculate fuel tank full perfect condition returned, I booked from Nov to Nov 18th I made NO modifications and prepaid.. it’s when I still had not received my bond back by week 2 I found out when I rang they said I returned it on November 19 th that is why they kept the bond.. When I made no modifications this to me is a scam and I will make sure I get my money back.. judging from other reviews this tactic seems to happen quite regularly

Two months after our rental, we still haven't got our deposit back despite leaving the car spotless. Some time ago, we received a mail that we got a traffic fine, but it is impossible to pay online via the methods listed, as the links don't work. We contacted Avis Budget Group but to this day we still have got no answer to our e-mail – nor our money back.

I strongly advise against renting cars from Avis Budget Group, based on my recent experience. I rented a car from their Vienna International Airport location on July 25th, 2024, and now, a month later, I'm being charged for a traffic offense I did not commit. Despite my requests for evidence or records, they have none to provide. This has left a sour taste, and I will not be renting from them again

Havde bestilt, fået bekræftet og betalt en lejebil i 12 dage til afhentning fredag sidst på aftenen i Raleigh lufthavn North Carolina, USA.
Fik beskeden at der var sket nogle fejl og at de desværre ikke havde flere biler tilbage og at der ikke var noget de kunne gøre. Der stod man så, kl 23:30, uden bil og træt efter en lang rejse. Nu manglede vi bare en tur på 130 km til Denton hvor vi skulle bo.
Vi var så heldige at vi kunne vække vores venner i Denton NC og bede dem stå op og køre 130 km for at hente os i lufthavnen.
Venter stadig på afklaring.

Lors du retour du véhicule, nous avons reçu un avis de facturation pour une prétendue rayure. Nous sommes retournés immédiatement chez le locateur pour constater, avec un technicien AVIS que :
1- sur le rapport de fin de location, il n'y avait pas d'indication concernant une rayure
2- après une nouvelle inspection, la voiture n'était pas rayée.

Le gestionnaire de la succursale de Lyon Part Dieu nous a assuré que la situation serait résolue sous peu et que nous n'avions pas à nous en faire.

Trois semaines après cela :
- environ 300 Euros ont été prélevés de ma carte de crédit et
- je n'ai aucune réponse de la part d'AVIS.

Nun für 2 wochen über 500 Euro bezahlen.
Das wird immer dreister, Dümmer und chaotischer.

Muss leider allen anderen zustimmen. Zweimal hintereinander Beschädigungen an Mietautos ohne jegliche Beweise vorgeworfen (wir hatten keinerlei Unfälle) und dann noch die Kreditkarte mit unerklärlichen und noch höheren Summen ohne Beleg belastet. Kundenservice nicht vorhanden. Scheint einfach ihr Business Model zu sein. 🤮

Die Mitarbeiter vor Ort waren nett und zuvorkommend. Der zentrale Kundendienst und Co sind jedoch eine Katastrophe. Ich versuche seit Wochen eine fehlerhafte Rechnungen zu klären, bekomme aber statt Anrufen oder Rückmeldungen nur Mahnungen und Inkassoandrohungen. Telefonisch hängt man ewig in der Warteschleife bis man genervt aufgibt.

Leider muss man 1 Stern geben um eine Bewertung abzugeben.

Bloß nicht bei diesem Anbieter mieten!
Auto 1 Woche früher zurück gegeben (nach absprache), es sollte die Differenz erstattet werden... dies ist nicht geschehen im Gegenteil...Sie buchen noch mal 477,36€ ab aufgrund erhöhter Bearbeitungsleistung.. zum glück ist man Rechtsschustzversichert... das ist einfach nur lächerlich...

My 2nd review EVER on this site - IF YOU RENT FROM BUDGET/AVIS - YOU WILL FOREVER REGRET YOUR DECISION - that's all I am going to write and PRAY you just listen to me!

HINT: BUDGET/AVIS DECIDED TO TURN AWAY A DISABLED VETERAN WITH ONE LEG - and that was just the BEGINNING! Denying service to our wounded veterans WITH A VALID RESERVATION - is CRIMINAL!

BOYCOTT AVIS/BUDGET - THEY DON'T VALUE OUR VETERAN'S!!!

Stay the hell away from this company, I wish I had looked them up before booking. Just got back from Gibraltar airport to an email saying we owe them £600 for damages. We KNOW we didn't damage the car at all, it was in perfect condition when we returned it. Stay the hell away from them.

Ich will diese Drecksfirma einfach zurück auf 1,2 Sterne bringen.
