Ancestry is a brilliant app and once that has made my research so exciting and occasionally mysterious! I have confirmed doubts regarding my biological father and discovered that I have a number of very famous relations/connections - icons of their time!
I find quite easy to use however, discovering Pro Tools recently I think it should be included in the normal subscription packages!
Overall a brilliant companion to my studies!

The people at Ancestry must work very hard to give me the information I have received . Wthout that help I wouid still be floundering . Full marks to Ancestry

I love the opportunity to investigate my family history, all the unusual names and sometimes too many of the one name in a family. I love to visit gravesites and towns that relate to the family. Ancestry DNA has certainly made the experience just that little bit more interesting. It can be a social thing as well as we seek help with our information gathering. I spend hours with my sister-in-law either over the phone or visiting trying to find people in the English census record or working out if family stories are correct or not. Thanks for everyone's work in the background to help us achieve our goal.

great service and ease of usability

I’m extremely disappointed with Ancestry.

I’ve just discovered that I’ve been charged around $130 every three months since 1 September for a World subscription that I did not realise I had signed up for or was continuing.

Apparently Ancestry had been sending renewal emails, but those emails were going straight to my junk folder. Meanwhile, the charges just kept coming out every three months.

I understand companies use auto-renewing subscriptions, but when you’re taking this amount of money repeatedly, I think there should be a much clearer warning before each renewal and a far more obvious indication on the account that a paid subscription is active.

What makes it worse is that I only discovered this while already trying to sort out a separate problem with my Ancestry DNA replacement kit, and getting meaningful help has been unnecessarily difficult.

I’ve now paid hundreds of dollars for a subscription I wasn’t knowingly using. Very poor customer experience, and I would strongly recommend people regularly check their Ancestry account and bank statements so they don’t get caught the same way.

I have made some wonderful discoveries through Ancestry.

One of the most special has been learning more about my great-grandmother born 1864 in Scotland. Her mother died when she was only three years old, and she went to live with her aunt.

Through DNA matches, I recently discovered that her father remarried and my great-grandmother had 12 half-siblings. This opened up a whole new branch of my family tree that I never knew existed.

Discoveries like this are what make family history so exciting. Ancestry has helped me uncover not just names and dates, but the stories and connections of the people who came before me.
