It has been so helpful to have this Pet Insurance for our dog. He had an unexpected health issue that started last year and the insurance has been great value, we were able to claim back a lot of his vet expenses. Thank you!

Happy with the service and and cover but claims take a little too long to process.

Fast, smooth claims process

Claims are fast and easy but the premiums go up every year! This past year they went up by $7 a fortnight! It's a catch 22 because our pet has a pre-existing injury so we can't move to another insurer. We're considering leaving and putting the money in a separate account for emergencies.

The settling of my large claim for my dog took longer than I had anticipated and required a little more toing and froing than necessary, but in the end the claim was settled to my satisfaction.
It would be a good idea to have a dedicated reference point for all communication regarding a particular claim, as I often had to explain the status of my claim to the new consultant over the phone each time there was another query which required resolution.

Relatively easy to file claims. Claims were processed quickly.

Don’t like that when I make claims under $200 excess, I get no return. Therefore if I have 10 small claims or more, I lose at least $750. When I thought I would receive 80% back. How many times do I have to pay excess. Premium is high enough already that I struggle with.

Our elderly dog was diagnosed with bone cancer. Insurance has covered his amputation and 6 months of chemo without any quibble and it is very easy now to claim online. Very happy.

My experience was smooth sailing and very pleasant. Great to deal with and hassle free. When your best friend is struggling you do not need further demands. They were great and I had time to deal with my very loved pet during his recovery.

Communication can be very slow with a huge lag. I don't see any reason why, if they have email and online submission, if they need extra information, why they have to send out a multi-page hard copy letter ten days later, rather than sending a message/text/email (They sent a text saying they'd received the claim, so why hurt the world with the tree killing with the slow communication technique when they actually want information??)

PIA staff have been extremely helpful and the turn around on claims has been excellent. My policy covers all of our needs.

If you are looking for Pet Insurance then I highly recommend PIA as they are one of the best in my experience. I’ve been with them for many years and have always had my claims paid promptly and any issues have been resolved with the help of the best customer service team.

Good for small claims but take forever to pay out on larger claims, claim they have not received documents that you have e-mailed them numerous times, response time is terrible and they never get back to you. In it for the money, not for the love of animals. Typical insurance company.

Terrible, absolutely the worst company I have dealt with. Had to have my pet euthanized, for which PIA paid me, then continued to take out fortnightly instalments for eight more weeks for him, despite repeated emails and phone calls from me. Every time they contact you, they start by asking how 'Barney' my dog that was euthanized is now doing - appalling. If I were some old lady and that were my only companion, this continued ignorance, may tip them over the edge. READ your notes before emailing or talking to me - you already paid the euthasia fee, so cannot deny knowing he had been 'put down'. You also charged my $100 excess twice, as apparently the vet called the same problem two different things, just because they weren't certain at first, but it was for the same thing, but a wording technicality left me out of pocket by another $100!
