Perfect journdy
The whole journey couldn't have gone any better. The signage was good so we could follow where we needed to go easily. The check in procedure was seamless and the staff we spoke to were all friendly. No complaints what so ever. You can't say that very often these days.
Really good - am booking again!
Really easy to find, pet reception great, efficient and polite and professional staff at all points. The on board crew were lovely too, really welcoming and we had a great conversation -which didn’t last long as we’d arrived in no time. Services were good at Folkstone - tea/coffee/snacks etc and there was plenty of room for my dog to have a good run around too.
As a motorcyclist
As a motorcyclist, hot days are horrendous, queuing to the kiosk, even filtering through the cars was made difficult from some motorists. We then queuing in for passport control twice with barely any shelter from the heat/sun. With bikes and riders overheating. Thankfully on the UK to calais we were given bottle of water to try to hydrate but unfortunately this didn't happen on the return journey. Although we had plenty of time on the return journey the passport controls meant half of us missed are train. Kore sun in full riding kit with no shade.
the outgoing shuttle was 2 hrs late…
the outgoing shuttle was 2 hrs late which left us tired and later checking into our hotel.
travelling with dogs in heat. this was not ideal. coming back we paid to get onto an earlier train but that also ran a bit late. so 77 euros extra for little advantage.

First time using Le Shuttle
First time using Le Shuttle, usually use the ferry! Loved it, lovely staff on both outward and inward journey. We have a dog, and both pet check ins were easy and straightforward. We will definitely be using Le Shuttle from now on!

Crossing etc., was great. Easy check in, helpful staff.
Disappointed with Flexi Plus. No bag, reduced selection, no ice cream in all that heat, grumpy member of staff at entrance. Not worth the extra money this year. Will think twice next year.

Train vs ferry - train wins
Decided to opt for train over boat as travelling with 2yr old and thought of up and down stairs, waiting to return to vehicle was too much.
Booked online via app using my Tesco rewards.
The app was easy to navigate and manage
Checked in with ease, had time for a coffee and comfort break before loading. There was a delay and our train was full up so we had to wait for next one (in end believe it was the one after that) might have helped if the person in the queue has returned to their vehicle when call went out instead!
Loading smooth and easy. Staff friendly. The onboard toilet was used and reported as being clean and tidy.
Off loading and leaving coquelles - no problems, from train to road easily and quickly.
Same for journey back, 7 days later in fact we managed to get an earlier train.
Train so much easier than ferry.

Lack of information regarding cancelled train
Our train was delayed but we were given no explanation why. There was a complete lack of information about the delay to our journey - we waited three and a half hours in the sun - no explanation, no staff, no apology, no refund. Terrible customer service!

Le Shuttle use
I recently used Le Shuttle to go to France on June 11th and returned on June 25th. I have used the service previously and it was an easy decision to use it again. The service is good and it very easy to board the train and its very quick to reach the other side and once you exit the train its straight onto the motorway to start the remainder of your journey. I did not use the shops or cafes in the terminal as I was departing early, but they seemed okay. The booking process was simple once you decided which option to take. Le Shuttle kept me informed on how things were in the lead up to my departures.
I would recommend this as a way to cross The Channel.

Could do better
Not amazing all took much longer than in the past. Unexplained delays on both legs. Confusion on the return leg. Board said L5 closed we were L5 and still in queue. Eventually crossing started 35 minutes later than we were due. In the queue we were boarded with Ms. Might have been put in wrong lane

First time using Le Shuttle
First time using Le Shuttle. And it was just (deliberately?) confusing. No guidance as to what you do or where you go. Contradictory signs - I'm looking for the 'Large Vehicles' sign but there is every other sign under the sun. Look for guidance on the website? Nah. Look for guidance on the app? Forget it. Next time I am just heading to boarding regardless of the time of train.
Which brings me to the delays. We arrived to be told of a 30 minute delay. It turned out to be 2 hours+. A poor woman in front of us had been waiting 4 hours! Meanwhile, those with fully flexible tickets can sail straight in and board the train. In effect, the time you have booked is meaningless. My advice? Just head to boarding regardless.
