Karbon is my preferred software

Best thing you can ever do for your practice
We moved to Karbon just over 2 years ago and it has made our workflow so much more efficient. Jobs are done earlier than ever due to be able to keep track of everything.
Everyone knows when things are due and what is expected to move to the next step in that job. You can see who is working on what job and at what stage it is - as part of the admin team, that is very important when a client calls asking for an update on their Accounts or Tax Return.
Karbon truly was the best move we could have made.

Sales staff mislead you into…
Sales staff mislead you into subscribing and overpromise software features.
The software is very basic and all promises not delivered.
Do not subscribe do your homework and find another program.
Literally no support is available once you subscribe and no method of cancelling nor getting your money back.
Management team are abhorrent to deal with and do not acknowledge a formal complaint.

Great software but... They'll charge you for ANYTHING
The software itself is great, albeit very expensive compared to others. I don't have a problem paying the monthly subscription for all team members, however, if you ever need to contact their support for something that isn't in the community they want to charge you.
Whether it's a bulk update to your existing work (should be a standard feature but obviously then they can't charge) or need support with an error on their API (caused by their set up not being correct), they'll charge you on top of your hefty subscription to address it.
I'll likely look for an alternative after this year as a result. Very off-putting.

We understand your concerns around support charges. While we offer a wide range of included support through our Help Center, 24/7 Support, Community, and Customer Success team, some requests like bulk updates or troubleshooting third-party tools fall outside standard support and are available through optional add-ons. This approach is designed to give firms flexibility to tailor services to their needs.
Regarding the Make.com issue, we tested the same steps offered for free and were able to push data successfully, so we believe this may come down to a small setup detail like a missing header. We’re happy to assist further if you’d like to revisit this.
We genuinely value your feedback it helps us continue to improve and we’d welcome the chance to turn your experience around.

We've been using Karbon since 2020, and continue to be impressed with the power of Karbon, and the constant improvements.
There isn't a practice management software that can manage inboxes and shared triage like Karbon does. We'd be lost without the ability to share emails, tag each other in messages, and create work from emails too.
We've always received the best support, and our regular check-ins with Ryan are invaluable. Not only in showing us how well we're using Karbon, and where we could improve, but Ryan also makes sure that we're up to speed with new developments, and is always on hand to answer our questions.

My Karbon Experience
I like the email integration function; it allows me to easily keep track and organize my next moves/tasks and also to easily involve team members using the comments on emails.
Managing and organizing my team is easier as I can view progress on each work item, progress of all works and have a centralized communication point that keep all team members access to current work status and updates.
Suggestions:
- Please add the reminder function on notes as well.
- Please add AI function on notes
- Can you add a function to view all assignments assigned to me

Just horrible software for clients
Just horrible software for clients. And software for software's sake, I think. Login to your email, to find a message on Karbon, so now you have to login to Karbon. Do whatever was asked by the accountant, then log back in to Karbon and tick a box to say that its complete. Could have just answered the original email and kept an email thread. Absolutely pointless. Other accountants I have employed use Senta, which is basically a drop box for files amd emails. One of the main reasons I am now changing accountants is because of the use of Karbon software.

I appreciate your feedback, and I’m sorry to hear that Karbon didn’t meet your expectations. Our goal is always to make collaboration between accountants and their clients as seamless as possible.
A few things I’d love to clarify:
• You can reply to the client request email and send documents that way—this completely bypasses the need to interact with tasks in Karbon if you prefer to handle everything via email.
• You don’t need to log in to communicate with your accountant—you can simply click on a task in your email and reply directly without logging in. Logging in is only necessary if you want to check historical work items or previously uploaded documents.
• File sharing is built in—you can upload and access documents directly in the client portal, eliminating the need for external platforms.
• Marking tasks as complete—you don’t have to log in to check off tasks. You can mark them complete on the same page where you’re communicating with your accountant. Additionally, many accountants use Karbon to streamline workflows, but if ticking off a task feels redundant, it might be worth discussing an alternative setup with your accountant.
