Is it a good idea to purchase expensive plants on-line?
I purchased 2 identical pleached trees in April 2025 which were planted side-by-side in a raised bed. I thoroughly prepared the bed in accordance with instructions and specialist advice - this included the installation of an electronically controlled watering system above and below ground. By June, one of the newly-planted pleached trees was clearly dying while the other was thriving. By July, the distressed tree showed no signs of life. Whatever the cause of its demise, it was neither lack of either water nor attention - as evident from the good health of its partner. “Just Pleachy” blamed the loss of the plant on “environmental” conditions and offered a 20% discount on a replacement plant. They did not suggest what the incompatible environmental conditions might have been. This was not an acceptable solution since the healthy tree had since grown and it was very unlikely the replacement would match - an essential requirement for me and the reason I originally purchased two trees at the same time. Furthermore, since the cause of the loss was deemed environmental without any specific cause, there was no guarantee the same thing would not happen again. No doubt some customers dig a hole, throw in the plant and forget it, but I was not one of those and did my best to explain that I was not in that category with details pictures taken of the site preparation . The lesson I have learnt from this is not to spend a significant sums purchasing living plants on-line - especially specimen ones. A reputable garden centre may be more expensive but at least the plants can be seen before purchase and are guaranteed.

On the rare occasion a tree doesn’t make it we do our best to help. We’re really sorry to hear you were disappointed and completely understand how frustrating it is to lose a tree after putting so much care into it. Even the most experienced gardeners sadly lose plants from time to time.
We reviewed the plant passport and the batch your tree came from, and there were no other reported losses at the nursery. Once a tree leaves our care, it can be tricky to pinpoint the exact cause from a distance. Even when two trees are planted side by side and cared for equally, living plants can sometimes respond differently.
There are many factors outside our control that can affect how a tree establishes, such as soil, drainage, pests, weather, and aftercare. While we do not offer plant guarantees (these often come with specific conditions and exclusions), we focus on providing high-quality, great-value pleached trees, with every plant going through thorough quality checks before leaving the nursery. Customers are always welcome to visit us in person to view and select trees before placing an order.
We know this has been disappointing, which is why we offered a goodwill discount on a replacement and can match the frame style and stem girth as closely as possible. That offer still stands if you would like to go ahead.
Wishing you every success with your garden 🌿
A happy experience
From my first call, I spoke to helpful, knowledgeable people who helped me to make the right choice for the 8 pleached trees I needed. I was told how long delivery would take and, again, when the trees were ready for shipment. The driver called us, as arranged, when he was an hour away and delivery went smoothly.
The trees are good specimens and provide just the screen I needed.

We are delighted to hear that you found our team helpful and knowledgeable. Great customer service is something we all work hard on and take real pride in. 😊
It is wonderful to know your trees arrived safely and on time, and that they are already providing the screen you were looking for. We hope you enjoy them for many years to come. 🌳
The place to get your Pleached Trees!
Had a great experience with Just Pleachy. Right from the start Rachel could not have been more helpful advising me on which trees to get for my soil type etc. she was so patient, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Exceptional customer service. Henry and Tyler came to plant my trees and under plants. Lovely guys and again very knowledgeable and did a great job. The trees are lovely, healthy specimens and I am very pleased with them. The Hydrangeas were a bit sad looking and Lavender very small young plants. I’m sure they’ll be ok in time. My soaker hose that was part of the planting service was out of stock, however, when I reported to Rachel she sent me one from another source very quickly in the post - very responsive and caring customer service. If you are looking for pleached trees this is the place to come - I would buy again from Just Pleachy. A very pleasant experience - thank you all :).

Rachel here, and I'm so pleased to hear you had a great experience. It was a real pleasure helping you choose the right pleached trees for your garden, and I'll be sure to pass your feedback on to Henry and Tyler too! 🫶
We're really glad you're happy with the trees and the planting. I do understand your thoughts on the Hydrangeas and Lavender, and have passed that on to the nursery team. They are younger plants, but with a little time and care, they should flourish. Hydrangeas in particular often put on a lot of dramatic growth in their first spring! And thank you again for your patience with the soaker hose. We always want to put things right as quickly as possible.
We’d absolutely love to help you again in the future and are so grateful you’d choose us again. Thanks once again for trusting Just Pleachy 🌿
Tree mendous!
Great communication, quality product, useful help guides and videos, able to get everything needed from one place. Whilst not cheep they were reasonable compared to other suppliers. Transport costs for all suppliers are particularly high. Extremely happy with the purchase and service.

Thank you Jak for your lovely feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
It was an absolute pleasure helping you choose the right trees for your garden, especially with the arrival of a new puppy! 🐾 I’m so glad we were able to switch your order in time. As we discussed, Laurel produce toxic berries, and when you’ve got a curious pup running around, peace of mind is everything. The Silverberry Oleaster is a brilliant alternative, it’s evergreen, hardy, and has that lovely silvery sheen to the foliage that catches the light beautifully all year round. And best of all, no toxic berries to worry about!
I’m also really pleased to hear that delivery went well and that our driver was able to offer some helpful planting advice on the day. We always try to go the extra mile, from selecting the right trees to making sure they arrive safely and in good condition.
Wishing you many happy days in the garden (with paws and plants alike!). 🐶🌿

We’re so pleased you were happy with the trees and the service. Our lovely team works hard behind the scenes to make sure everything runs well, so your feedback really does mean a lot. 💚
It’s also great to hear you’d like to do more business with us. We’d be absolutely thrilled to help with that, whether it’s a few more trees or ready-made borders.🌼
Thank you again for your kind words and for supporting an independent business. It genuinely makes our day. 🥰

Hi Mrs Kelly,
Thank you so much for your lovely review 💚 It really means a lot to Tomas and the whole team!
We’re so glad to hear that Tomas was friendly and took such care bringing your trees into the back garden. We know it’s not always easy moving large trees, especially when you're managing things from a wheelchair, so we always try to go that bit further to make everything as smooth and stress-free as possible. It sounds like Tomas did just that 🙌
He’s a much valued part of our delivery team and always goes the extra mile, whether it’s placing trees carefully or simply arriving with a smile. We’re really pleased you felt looked after.
At Just Pleachy, we genuinely care about every part of your journey. Not just the trees themselves (although we’re very proud of those too), but the service, support, and customer care that come with them. Wishing you many peaceful, green-filled days enjoying your beautiful new trees 🌿
Fabulous product and service again!

Purchase of 6 Pleached 3m Photinia (Red Robin)
The sales process was very clear and efficient and delivery was prompt. Whilst all the trees received are doing well I have to admit to being initially a little concerned some of them seemed much fuller than others leading to decisions about which tree to plant where in the line. Obviously a result of all the trees being freshly pleached as explained in the delivery e-mail I received. That said watching the trees settle into their positions I expect them all to mature fully.

Thank you so much for the lovely 5-star review! We're really glad to hear the sales and delivery process was smooth! ⭐️
Thanks for sharing the initial concern about some trees looking fuller than others, freshly pleached trees can vary a little at first, but as you’ve rightly said, they soon settle in and start to put on their growth. 😊
Thanks again for the kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. 💚
Great service but not the product I was expecting
Although the service was great at point of order, the product just is not of the same quality as other providers. I ordered 10 trees that should of 12-14cm girth and having measured them they are maximum 12cm at the base but visible stem girth is more like 8cm or less at the height of the pleached tree. Which still makes for a fairly immature looking tree. I previously used Ornamental Trees who don't offer the same choice of sizes but were substantially better trees.

Thank you for your review, Daniel. We’re really sorry to hear the trees didn’t meet your expectations, especially after a smooth ordering experience.
You flagged this by email and our customer care team responded within the hour. We were pleased to hear the trees had arrived safely and that you mentioned they were looking good. Before dispatch, we also sent an inspection photo of one of the real trees from your batch, so you had the chance to review the trees before they arrived.
That said, we absolutely want to get to the bottom of your concern about stem girth.
We’ve asked if you could kindly send over a photo with a tape measure around the trunk. Because the clear stems on this batch were 80cm and 120cm, so we recommend measuring at roughly 40cm up the stem. This should be a fair mid-point, not at the base on the flare, and not too high near the foliage.
We take sizing very seriously and always want our trees to meet the specifications we advertise. Once we receive your photo, we’ll pass it straight to the nursery team to investigate thoroughly. The nursery manager double-checked this order, but if there has been a mistake and the measurements don’t match your order, we’d of course be happy to put that right.
Thanks again for flagging this. We’ll make sure it’s resolved quickly and fairly. 😊
Great experience from start to finish
The just peachy website is a dream to use, especially compared to other gardening websites. Customer service and response times were excellent, and the choice of pleached trees is way more than elsewhere. The lead time for delivery was a little longer than I’d expected but communication was kept up whilst I waited and I’m so happy with my trees. Would 100% recommend Just Pleachy!

John, thank you for your review. We’re really glad to hear you were happy with the support from our team, but we’re sorry the trees didn’t quite meet your expectations in terms of coverage.
Pink Marble (Photinia × fraseri 'Cassini') trees, like Red Robins, tend to flower in early May and put a lot of energy into their blooms. Around the time of your delivery (late May), the flowers may have just been going over, which can sometimes make the trees appear a little tired. Once that phase passes, they usually send out a flush of fresh new growth that helps fill out the frame.
As a living product, there can be some natural variation, especially during seasonal transitions, but we take quality seriously and want every tree to thrive in its new home.
We’ll follow up to see if there’s anything you might find helpful now the trees are planted. Our team is always on hand for help if needed. 💚
Slightly disappointed
I was slightly disappointed by the trees. One out of the 3 we ordered looked ok but the other 2 were smaller and had dead bits. Delivery was okay but the van was too small so all trees were stored at an angle inside meaning one of the frames had got a bit bent/twisted. Overall the trees weren’t quite what I was expecting given the reviews and website photos. I don’t believe the inspection photos were representative of what I received.

Thank you for your feedback, Kerry. We're really sorry to hear that the trees didn’t quite meet your expectations.
Red Robin (Photinia × fraseri) trees tend to flower in late April to early May and put a lot of energy into their blooms. Around the time of your delivery (mid May), the flowers may have just been going over, which can make the trees look a little tired and could explain the dead-looking bits. They usually perk up quickly afterwards with a fresh flush of growth.
In terms of delivery, we stack large trees at an angle on purpose, as it's the safest way to transport them. If they were kept upright in transit, they’d be more likely to fall and suffer serious damage.
We always aim to deliver trees that look just as lovely as the ones on our website. The photos are all taken at our nursery and labelled with the month to reflect seasonal changes. Your inspection photo would have shown a tree from your batch, taken just before dispatch as an extra layer of reassurance.
We’ll reach out to see if there’s anything we can do to support your trees now they’re planted. Our aftercare doesn’t stop at delivery, and we’d love the chance to help them thrive. 💚
Highly recommend!
We just had our trees delivered and planted. We cannot recommend Just Pleachy enough. Extremely prompt and polite to all of our questions. Communication was excellent throughout the ordering process.
