Great customer service
Could not be more thankful for the staff on the ground at Melbourne Airport at Jetstar. Lena went over and above for my family when booking in I had my son and his partner my daughter and my other daughter and her husband and their three children, four month year-old twins and a 2 1/2 year-old and it was chaos. She came and assisted us by booking us all and helping us with our bags and making our life so much easier to board this plane thank you Jetstar you need to keep staff like this on. It was such a great experience for us when we were dreading.

This happened in Avalon Airport, Victoria, one of the rudest staffs and indirect racism i ever encountered. Jetstar seems doesn't have strict policy on multi culture and racism. If there was 0 star then i would have given that too. Omg, it was just 100 gram extra for my handcarry combine both my hand bag and carry on luggage, I had some medicines of mine in my carry on bag which was almost 100 grams, it just happened just now before 20 minutes ago, I know its holiday times and they just like to ripped off people,i had to threw my items just because it was 100 gram more and it was medicine in my hand bag, do you think its fair? And same item i brought from Sydney airport in Christmas day while travelling to Melbourne from different airline. Jetstar pretend to give you a bit cheaper flight cost compared to others but their biggest scam and income is from these unnecessary stress given to their customers. I would rather spend $100 more on other flights like virgin Airlines than expecting cheaper flight cost from Jetstar because at the end of the day i will be paying same amount with these unnecessary drama from jetstar along with rude and very bad customer service staffs. Specially Avalon airport has many staffs who does racist indirectly if you're not white, so guys please make sure you started video recording for your own privacy, they act like Aliens out of this world!

Non existent customer service that avoids any conversation of reimbursements
I want to add to the past reviews regarding their customer service. I was taken off of a flight recently due to it being oversold and have been waiting patiently for hours on their chat line to get a case number as it's impossible to email then or get a live body on the phone. Chat line takes hours as it's often disconnected. Great way to not get complains or reimburse people for expenses incurred that are clearly your own fault. This is worse airline I've ever worked with and I've traveled internationally with millions of miles to my record.

Weigh In At Gate - Additional $75!
Purchased my tickets, was not told that they would combine my backpack and carry on and weigh them or else I’d get charged SEVENTY FIVE dollars (which was HALF of what I paid for the flight). I’ve flown Jetstar before and this has never happened, they didn’t offer any exceptions. At the beginning of checking one of my bags they didn’t inform us of this at all or warn us, which leads me to believe they were trying to catch us at the very last minute to then be forced to pay it at the gate before the flight takes off. And the cherry on top, the flight was also 55 mins delayed. Horrible experience here will not fly JetStar again.

The dreaded change of flight, more like a cancelled flight - 16 hours earlier, no other sufficient options pay for upgrades to include seating - due to the change we are no longer sitting together as a family and basically told its in their T&Cs visit their website
So now over $200 for an extra nights accommodation and seated multiple rows away from each other, quick to take money for upgrades and for flights but not so quick to compensate you for inconvenience on their part

I wish there is zero that I can put for Jetstar. They are cheaper on the surface but they get you with loads of hidden costs about everything. What Jetstar definitely doesn't have is customer services, manners and professionalism. I am really struggling to find anything positive about them.

If I could give zero stars I would. This has been a horrendous experience, Jetstar recently completely ruined a short holiday we had planned for almost a year. It's my fault for falling for the cheap flights... never again. They cancelled our outbound flight after leaving us waiting at the boarding gate for almost 4 hours saying it was delayed, only to then announce that a crew member had "gone to tea" and there wasn't enough crew to run the flight now. We then had to wait in a line for an hour and a half at the service desk to find out when the rescheduled flight was and arrange accomodation for the night as we live out of Melbourne. Our flight was meant to depart at 9:30pm and it was 1:30am by the time we got to the hotel. The replacement flight was at 6am, meaning we only had 3 hours sleep before needing to be up and back at the airport. Our whole first day of our trip was cancelled (including the nights accomodation missed) that we had paid for in advance, because we were so tired when we arrived we had to go to bed.
Then returning home I joked to my husband about the chances of our flight being cancelled again and low and behold..... at least this time we knew to get to the service desk asap so we were 2nd in line for accomodation. No flights available until 4:30pm the next day, a Monday where we were both scheduled to work. I am self employed and don't get paid if I don't work. Once finally home on Monday evening after just wandering around the shops in Hobart for a day, I calculated what it had cost me in Hotels, Ubers, Extra food expenses, lost accomodation, holiday plans that were ruined and lost income, and it was over $1200.
The process of then making a claim was seemingly simple initially, despite being in a virtual cue for almost an hour, I was told it would be processed within 7 days. I am now out of pocket for the week because of the unexpected costs incurred and wait the week for the money to arrive into my account. By 10 days there's nothing and no one from Jetstar have been in touch. So I join another virtual cue...
I'm then told no one has looked at my claim yet and they would escalate my case. The next day I am sent an email saying they will refund $740 of my out of pocket expenses. Apparently loss of income is an indirect expense which they don't cover. I'm sorry, I directly missed my shifts due to the cancellation of this flight! They also wouldn't cover lost accomodation, as they provided "alternative accomodation"... yeah the Quest at Tullamarine was just as lovely as the tiny Eco Bush House that I had booked and paid for. I tried talking to someone about how unacceptable I found this and was shut down with "policy blah blah blah". I decided to just accept the refund offered and to never fly with them again. It then took them 7 days to email me saying that my refund had been 'approved' and that I would receive the refund within 7 days. Then, 7 days later I receive another email saying my refund had been processed and will take up to 20 BUSINESS DAYS to appear in my account!!!! Is this business for real??? I'm out of pocket due to their incompetence and the financial stress this has put on me leading up to Xmas and I'm looking at maybe getting a partial refund 6 weeks after our trip??? This is seriously cooked. This whole experience has left me so angry and in disbelief, although somehow I feel I shouldn't be surprised. DON'T FLY WITH JETSTAR. DON'T FALL FOR THE CHEAP TICKETS, YOU WILL PAY WAY MORE IN THE END AND THEY WILL RUIN YOUR HOLIDAY.
Fly with rubish airline Jetstar
We fly internationally often with many airlines, and Jetstar has been the worst in terms of service quality. Some cabin crew behave unprofessionally and show discriminatory attitudes toward passengers who are not fluent English speakers. We witnessed passengers, especially from China and other Asian countries, being forced out of their booked exit-row seats and moved to the back of the plane.
If you speak limited English and want a pleasant journey, we recommend avoiding Jetstar.
Jetstar is more expensive because of the scams
Can confirm what others are saying about the boarding gate scales. My carry on was weighed at home (came under 7kg), weighed again at check-in and fine too but at the gate suddenly several kg over so copped a $75 fee. Never again. I've never had a good experience with these people so it's on me for trying to make it work again. Never ever again. I hope Jetstar goes out of business with these predatory practices.

Paid for oversize luggage 8m prior to flight. Turns out that was only oversize handling fee and no weight allowance was included, so stung and addition $260 at the airport. Website deceptively vague and made no attempt to be clear.

Every time I am booked with Jetstar, they cancel. Staffing issues. They can't even hold on to staff which should tell you a lot about this company. Do not book with Jetstar. Fly Qantas even if it costs a little more. It's worth it.

Jetstar are a disgrace. Every flight I have had with them has been a delay. Trying to get to Tokyo from cairns as my daughter is in Tokyo and her friends have just left so she is now there alone as I can’t get there. Seriously one of the worst airlines ever. Avoid at all costs
A shocking airline that is not fit to operate
A truly shocking airline - never fly with them! My flight from BNE to SYD at 19.30 was delayed by 30 mins, then an hour then an announcement was made that the plane was on its way and would be leaving. Five minutes later it was then cancelled as it would have arrived into Sydney after the 23.00 curfew. Jetstar blamed the weather but no other flights were delayed and they just used this as an excuse to avoid paying any compensation, stating that the events were out of their control which was blatantly not true. The next flight was in the morning and I was not even offered a bottle of water as compensation. The Ashes were on and it was Christmas party season so no reasonably priced hotels were availble so I had no choice but to sleep in a seat at the airport, how dignified! Treated like scum by Jetstar and still no compensation. A disgraceful company that should not be allowed to operate. The Australian authorities need to step in here...
Fly at your own risk
I flew from Wellington to Auckland with Jetstar on 18/11/25, and the below review reflects my experience on that flight.
Jetstar seem to have their own carry on policy compared to other airlines. Other airlines clearly state 7kg carry on luggage + 1 smaller item like a laptop etc, while Jetstar say both items combined must not exceed 7kg. They also send out the most unfriendly representative to collect fines as if they are being rewarded for the amount she can collect. When anyone questions it, she starts claiming it is airport policy. Fly with Jetstar at your own risk. Outside of this experience, the flights are regularly postponed and cancelled, which would lead you to think they strategically alter their schedules to make sure every seat is occupied, forcibly transferring passengers from one flight to the next via a cancellation that is always somehow outside of their control.

Super teure Angebote für eine Billigairline. Bei einem 9 Stunden Flug bekommt man keinen Schluck Wasser umsonst. Das Essen ist auch kaum mehr als zwei Scheiben Toast oder eine Mini Portion Lasagne, aber auch nur wenn man das Paket dazu gebucht hat oder vor Ort bezahlt.
Boardentertainment wird zwar angeboten, aber auch nur zu einem Preis von 15 AUD. Einfach nur lachhaft was aus der Luftfahrt geworden ist.
