Jetstar was not good

Jetstar was not good. I took 3 flights with them in the past 2 weeks between Australia and New Zealand and every flight was delayed, bumpy and bad landings. I would not recommend this airline to anyone. Did not offer any drinks on the flights and did not have any excuses for being late all 3 times. Pay the extra to take a different airline.

This is the first and the final time we will fly with Jetstar again. We rather pay mor and get there in time then left stranded at the airport for hours.

Jetstar is a shitstar … that is all there is

Jetstar is the worst airline in the world, even worst then airlines from India. It delayed my flight from Auckland New Zealand by almost 4 hrs and because of that I missed my other connection to rather rare destination of Ayers Rock when there are very few flights to. It left me stranded that day at the airport, disrupted and ruined my travel plans, forcing me to buy totally new ticket and traveling through different route the next day. Because of that it did not compensate me, did not offer accomodation or even meal vouchers. At the service desk they said : but the plane arrived after all, didn’t it ?
What a rude, inconsiderate and customer unfriendly airline is that. It leaves people in the cold. Customer service is not reachable by phone, they cut u off. If there will be an option for 0 stars then it should be awarded. All they do is delay flights, cancel flights and ruin people’s plans. For me never Jetstar again. Just don’t book their flights.

I genuinely didn’t think an airline could get this bad, but Jetstar proved me wrong.

My flight was cancelled with little to no warning, no clear explanation, and absolutely zero sense of responsibility. What followed was a masterclass in fuckery how not to treat paying customers — long wait times, unhelpful support, and a complete lack of communication. I was left scrambling to reorganize plans, out of pocket, and stressed for no good reason.

What’s most frustrating isn’t just cancelling the flight it’s how poorly everything was handled. No accountability, no urgency, no real effort to make things right. Just generic responses and endless delays.

Bad service at Queenstown airport

I had multiple JETSTAR flights during this Australia-New Zealand trip. Overall, it is great. Convenient and efficient. However, I encountered system issues while dropping off bags at Queenstown airport (NZ) at ~9:30 am on 4/15/2026. Called for help. There is one male ground staff (white shirt, 40-50 yo, wear glasses and buzz cut) kept saying “please” to me. I didn’t realize what he meant at the beginning, and then I figured out I didn’t say “please” when I requested help. He gave me attitude and ignored me for 10 minutes. Excuse me? As a ground service staff, there is no tolerance for cultural differences and language barriers? I am DISRESPECTFUL because I didn’t say “PLEASE”? That is such a bad experience as I had already been frustrated by the baggage issues. This “gentleman” did handle my request and checked in my two bags at the end. Credit for the help I received. I am just not satisfied with the service attitude. JETSTAR should reinforce the training for service staff. As a popular tourist destination, I am sure many international tourists visit Queenstown every day. It will be great if JETSTAR Queenstown ground staff can elevate your service to an international standard.

12th arrived Sydney Airport to Brisbane

April 12th arrived Sydney Airport to catch afternoon flight to Brisbane. Half hour b 4 boarding they cancelled the flight. Left me 5o scramble to find another fight home.
No go. Next day only. Got to the airport early. Half hour 3 boarding they changed gates.
A ahambles, dis organised, un informative and excuse after another.
Cheap flight shit service!!!

After boarding from christchurch- first thing crew member told all passengers during announcement was, flight is delayed we apologise but also we are working overtime for all of you.

As if we made them to do overtime.

DONT TRUST JETSTAR. ANY AIRLINE BUT THEM. SHUT THEM DOWN

JETSTAR ARE THIEVES. THEY CHARGE US FOR OUR PURSES AS EXTRA WITH OUR 7 KILO CARRY-ON, THEN WHEN YOU GO TO PAY AND APPARENTLY THEIR EFTPOST MACHINE SAYS DECLINE. THEY THEN ASK YOU TO USE A DIFFERENT CARD AND IT GOES THROUGH APPROVED. THEN ONCE YOU FLY OUT TO YOUR DESTINATION, ONLY TO GET HOME AND SEE YOUR BANK NOTIFICATION, THAT THE DECLINE CHARGE DID GO THROUGH A DAY LATER. SO, WHEN YOU RING MANY TIMES FOR ASSISTANCE, THEY DISCONNECT THE CALL AFTER A LONG WAIT. YOU GO THROUGH CHAT AND MAKE YOU WAIT JUST FOR THE CHAT TO DROP OUT. YOU RING THEM AND SPEAK TO SOMEONE, THEY PUT YOU ON HOLD AND SAYS THEY’LL TRANSFER YOU TO CASE MANAGER AND LINE DROPS, YOU CALL BACK AND ASK FOR SUPERVISOR, THEY PUT YOU ON HOLD AND LINE DISCONNECTS. YOU CALLBACK DEMANDING TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER AND THEY PROMISE A CALLBACK FROM MANAGER URGENTLY, 3 DAYS LATER, STILL WAITING. ABOSLUTELY ABHORRENT. PUTRID SERVICE AND JETSTAR SHOULD NEVER BE IN A BUSINESS OF DEALING WITH PEOPLE. MEANWHILE, THEY STILL HAVE NOT RESOLVED MY CASE OR REFUND THE DUPLICATED AMOUNT. PROB MAKING MILLIONS OUT OF SCAMMING PEOPLE LIKE THIS. RORT!!!!!!!!!!!

Carla and side kick Darren at check in desk on 28th March 2026, very appalling customer service and no consideration for paying customers. On this day our planes registration was changed for one smaller. no call or email to inform us until we arrived for check in and they informed us we couldn’t board this flight and had to wait for a later flight. Okay so these things happen, staff are not to blame. Although, an apology would have been the decent thing to do instead of shifting blame that we had arrived 4 minutes prior to check in closure, and pretty much did not want to hear whinging about the inconvenience, and just kept insisting with attitude to take it up with JetStar. We had a wedding to get to in Sydney and our dog boarding drop off home at certain times hence why we booked earlier flight to start with. Just arguing back and forth for a good 5 minutes and still trying to shift blame. To my opinion the right thing to do would be to a least say sorry for the inconvenience but there’s nothing we can do but please take it up with JetStar, and I would have copped that, no problem. We then brought tickets for Virgin to get back home. Sorry JetStar your $200 voucher doesn’t cut it, when no communication shown before hand of plane changes and rudeness of staff.

Rude staff

Rude staff, don't care about customers, from checking in to weight carry on baggages in the queue even with their flight being delayed by 2 hours

Terrible company, only getting cutomers as they are the only one for now offering low budget trip, the day a new Australian company offer budget flights with great customer service will be the end of Jetstar

Flying this airline is like being on a third world country with wings. Firstly, it’s hit and miss with the staff - a lot of them are rude, inept, or lacking basic common sense, so talking to them is a task. Secondly, every flight I’ve ever been on via Jetstar has been delayed, late, or just poorly planned - there’s always a poor excuse. Thirdly, the terminals at each airport further extend my first point - budget airline equals budget infrastructure, meaning, exposure to the weather between the gates and aircraft (or vice versa), and since it appears that most people who use this airline also lack basic executive function, there’s always a line queued onto the tarmac (so when flying with Jetstar, pack a poncho if it’s raining, because you’ll be waiting for awhile)…

Oh, and my favourite thing - it costs extra to sit in an exit row, where you may be required to assist in saving lives should the shanty go down… Clearly basic human psychology isn’t understood with this ‘reward’ model (sorry - spelt ‘exploitation’ wrong)…

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience flying with Jetstar. My flight was delayed by 20 minutes, which was already frustrating, but what made the situation far worse was how I was treated by the staff.

My carry-on backpack was only 3 kg over the allowed limit, and I was told I had to pay an additional $85. I had no extra bags or personal items with me, just a single backpack. When I explained the situation, instead of offering any understanding or flexibility, the staff member insisted I either pay or reduce the weight immediately.

I was forced to put on extra layers of clothing at the airport just to meet the requirement, which was both uncomfortable and embarrassing. To make matters worse, the staff member and her colleagues were laughing at me in the end. It felt humiliating and completely unprofessional.

This experience showed a total lack of customer care and basic respect. I understand policies need to be enforced, but the way this situation was handled was unacceptable. I will seriously reconsider flying with Jetstar in the future.

Cheap not Cheerful

Personally I don't recommend Jetstar, they are definitely a budget airline, but for the price you are still paying they should be able to get their act together and try to coordinate flights to minimize delays for passengers.
The old saying Cheap and Cheerful definitely doesn't apply to Jetstar and honestly they are not that much cheaper, I think I will definitely be flying with a different airline in the future.
Fly Jetstar if you have a few hours to add to your travel and you don't mind sitting around the airport for 5 or 6 hours.

Jetstar rips you off even though you accidentally agreed to be ripped off

I made a flight booking in advance of my trip so the tickets could be cheap which cost 59$ sydney to melbourne avalon airport one way, but could not make the flight because I was sick and didnt want to spread my flu around. I called to see if I could move the flight booking to 1 week later. Which I was charged for 90$ to cancel and return them the seat ticket and charged another 78.87$ for new tickets when the flight booking sane flight tickets are 97$. I was under the impression that I was buying 2 tickets which I requested and miscommunication regardless I explained that it is stupid for me to pay an extra 71.87$ just for them to resell my original ticket and charge me almost 2 tickets. When I should have just paid a extra 30$ and got 3 tickets (1 from my original flight and 2 new ones at later date). They showed no compassion. Just kept saying that I agreed to the terms. Which I think ethically no one should be held to being ripped off by not understanding how stupid that they could charge anyone like this. I dont charge jetstar when their flights are delayed or cancelled.

Beware carry-on luggage traps

March 2026 - Wellington Airport. Elderly couple in their 80s – one with obvious mobility issues(walking stick) - are about to board Jetstar flight to Auckland for a funeral. They had earlier meticulously checked their carry-on bags to ensure both below 7kg limit. BUT as going through boarding gate Jetstar ran a surprise weight check and she was asked to additionally weigh her small handbag (specs, phone, lipstick) and his small plastic bag (phone and mag). Result = slightly over combined 14kg allowance. It was then suggested by Jetstar staff – clearly uncomfortable about the situation - to remove sufficient clothing from her carry-on bag and wear this through the boarding gate (and by implication take the clothing off once on the plane). Totally impractical – and utterly stupid!!
It was noted other passengers on the same flight were similarly trapped.
Some discretion or common sense did not apply to these Jetstar staff.
The eventual result: an enforced on the spot penalty payment of $85.
The outcome for Jetstar is the airline has now lost two customers, and plenty of adverse publicity with 30+ friends and family already aware to avoid Jetstar if at all possible.
