I would give them zero stars if I were able. Predatory business practices at best. Sent the movers in the night before I had asked for, after closing time so that I couldn't talk to them until morning. Upped my estimate and deposit, then, my packing wasn't up to their standards, more money, they said that I had way more stuff than I'd told them, way more money. I'm contacting my State AG.

Don't trust these guys.

Extra Mile VanLines is a moving broker that contracts with moving companies. They provided a GROSSLY inaccurate estimate and delivered late. At the time of initial contact, I was given a quote of $1500 and a delivery date of July 11th. I ultimately ended up paying $3740 and the truck didn't arrive until July 16th.

This moving company violated my trust, my home, and my safety. Please — do not use them.

I’m not someone who normally writes reviews, but I have to speak up about what this company did to me. I cried over this for days, and I’m still dealing with the emotional and financial fallout.

They didn’t just mishandle my move — they stole from me, lied to me, damaged my belongings, and put me in danger.
• They stole my gun. It was secured in a room they were never supposed to enter. I told them not to go in there. They had absolutely no reason to be near it, and now it’s gone. That’s not just theft — it’s a serious safety issue, and the fact that they’ve refused to take responsibility is horrifying. When confronted with this information they ghosted me.
• They charged me double the quote with no warning, no breakdown, and no shame. I was quoted 3,300 for the entire move and had put down a 1000 dollar deposit. Upon pickup I was supposed to pay 700 dollars and they charged me 1675.
• They broke my furniture — things that meant something to me. Family items. They didn’t care.
• They lied about how much stuff they took, likely to justify the inflated price. I know what I own. I packed it all. They manipulated the numbers to their benefit. I had less stuff then what was on their manifest and they still refused to take my big items.
• They ignored me afterward. Calls, emails — nothing. Once they had my money, I stopped existing to them. Todd who said he cared about my move and said he was a veteran and I should trust him took advantage of my trust.

This wasn’t just a bad move. It was traumatic. I felt violated, powerless, and heartbroken. I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did.

Please — stay away from this company. Don’t risk your money, your memories, or your peace of mind

Deceptive practices. Gave us a quote in the low $4000 range. Ended up costing close to $12,000. Held us hostage by telling us during the move they would not load any more contents until we paid them now. Also, the company they hired to do the move broke several items . They are now under investigation by the Attorney Generals office!

It is now 9/12/25 and I now see the negative one star review has jumped from 26% to 31%. Consumer beware! Don't do business with this company. They are a bunch of crooks and it is a matter of time when they will go under. Jacque, who works there never calls you back. We have been waiting for his call after repeated attempts since May of this year. Please be smart and go to another moving company! You will be sorry if you use this company.

The name under is Susann Koenig, Job# 8095181 for the date of 5/22/25. A complaint has been filed with the Attorney Generals office and they have agreed that this is a valid complaint and have assisted us to have the Florida Dept.of Agricultural and Consumer complaints. We are in the process of handling with them. We have not received any offers of settlement and will pursue this further in taking legal action in small claims court. The Better Business Bureau has already been notified. Further action maybe taken in filing a complaint with the Governors office of Ron Desantis

RUN — Extra Mile Van Lines Is a Complete Disaster and Possibly a Scam

My wife hired Extra Mile Van Lines to help with our move. It was supposed to be a standard Monday pickup. Instead, we got a trainwreck.

They didn’t show Monday. No explanation. Then, out of nowhere, someone finally shows up at 9:30 PM on Tuesday — yes, 9:30 at night — smelling like alcohol and clearly not sober. He stumbles in, takes one look, and says, “Yeah, that quote isn’t going to work.”

We were shocked. He calls his supervisor, and we — desperate — agree to pay more just to get it done. He says, “Alright, we’ll come back at 7:00 AM tomorrow.” Spoiler: they never came.

7:00 AM? No one. 8:00? Still nothing. We call. They say they had a flat tire — classic excuse. Meanwhile, we had already moved, thinking this would go as planned. We packed everything — including ALL our baby’s belongings — and left it ready to be picked up.

Now we’re in a new home with a six-month-old baby, no clothes, no diapers, no gear, and nothing was picked up. We’re living in chaos, and they shrug it off like it’s just another day at the office.

Their “solution”? A 50% refund, like that makes up for stranding a family with an infant. Based on other reviews, this seems like a recurring tactic — bait you with a quote, ghost you, then offer a partial refund as hush money. It feels like a scam, not just bad service.

We’re reporting this to the FBI and appropriate authorities for investigation. If you’ve had a similar experience, we recommend you do the same.

Avoid Extra Mile Van Lines like the plague. You’re better off moving everything by hand.

I had the absolute worst experience with this company. They lied from beginning to end. The movers didn’t show up the day they were supposed to. I was then told they would come between 3 PM and 7 PM the next day. The Mover showed up at 8:30 PM, sat in front of my house for two hours, smoking and talking on the phone and then at 10:30 PM told me it’s too late for him to move anything. He told me he would be at my house the next day at 7 AM, at 7:10 AM. He text me that his truck has a flat tire. No apology, They told me if I paid a fee they could guarantee my stuff is delivered the next day. After I paid it they said they can’t guarantee that. Every single person I spoke to outright lied to me. And then they wouldn’t give me back my deposit. I have a baby and all his stuff was packed. I have moved many times and this is the worst experience I’ve ever had with Movers. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone.

All of these reviews hit it right on the head. This place is a scam. No communication between supposed drivers and office personnel. They are liars and thieves. We chose our date they said we needed a backup date so we did. The day before the move they confirmed arrival between 8-12. By 3 in the afternoon we were told it would be the next day instead. No explanation as to why. One rep said we changed it we did not. We talked to someone the night before that said they would try to be there between 8-9. Nobody showed. 10-11 nobody showed. We were in contact with the company there coming they will be there while someone else from the company kept texting to see if they had arrived. At noon they still weren’t there spoke with the dispatcher again and claimed they weren’t late because they were on central time and still had an hour and promised they would be here. I asked why nobody informed us and said things I shouldn’t have and he said they were not coming. Customer service people were trying to assure us they were still coming but would promise a call back shortly and not answer the phone. At 2 pm a single driver in a U-Haul shows up and wanted to start getting the items ready. I asked where his help was and he said they are coming and were be here in about 35 minutes at the same time the car said 10 minutes. I said that’s funny the driver is standing here and just told me 35. Still assuring me they were coming he wanted to get starting. I told him no were were waiting on a call back from Ryan and wasn’t doing anything until we talked to him. Needless today he didn’t answer any of our calls and we sent the driver away. The car told us we couldn’t have our deposits back because they were there and we cancelled. I told them they didn’t provide the service we were paying for and we would get it back one way or the other. These people are very good at hanging up on you when they don’t have answers. These people should not be allowed to be in business. They are a scam and I truly believe they would have taken off with the truck and our stuff. Very shady, unprofessional group of people. If thinking about using these people DONT DO IT!!!!!

I would not recommend Extra Mile van lines to my worst enemy. They get you to agree to a deposit on the phone when they give you a quote, but that of course is not refundable, it supposedly can only be used if you use them in the future. They hire local people to pack up and deliver your things and aside from the movers that did the physical move who were great, the moving company (Fast Move) is demanding and rude. I was told that I would have free storage for 30 days, but then they delivered my things to me within five days of my move when they knew I had no physical address to give them because my apartment would not be ready for a couple of weeks at least. So then I had to get another storage space… so much for the free storage…so that I would have somewhere for them to deliver my things. Also, now I will have to hire another moving company to move my things into my apartment when it is ready, which is what they were hired to do and what I paid them for.
They threatened with charging me an $850 re-storage fee if I wouldn’t accept my belongings, even though they knew I wasn’t ready for them.
They either don’t return their calls or they have several different people call you with the same message and all they’re interested in is the money, money, money! This place should not legally or morally be able to operate. The communication in this company is the absolute worst. They don’t talk to each other and they don’t talk to the customer. They gave the movers the wrong address and they ended up going to the apartment that wasn’t ready instead of to my storage facility that I had to get because of them. I’ve never seen such a group of inefficient people in my life. As if moving is not stressful enough, I highly recommend you don’t hire these people unless you intend to become a career alcoholic.

Moving coordinators intentionally underestimate the overall cost to pull you in. The QC guy then extorts you for more money, since your options are now limited as the moving day approaches. The moving company that picks your items up will be shocked at everything. too many stairs, too far from truck, too much packing, too many items. Then they double the price. Now you're stuck on moving day either sending them away and having to start over, or let them extort more money.... more packing materials, fills more of the truck, more fuel surcharges.

Overall the $4k quote was actually a $19k move, with most of that having to be in CASH on MOVING DAY.

Damaged items because the movers that showed up were not in the mood to pack, wrap or protect anything. Stolen items, which can be tracked by airtag to be in another part of the state, and potentially honestly lost items - Oh, and items that belong to ANOTHER FAMILY were delivered. Totally different tag and lot numbers.

Raj and Derek were there for us every step of the way. We had a very complicated cross-country move with a change of destination mid-way through. They accommodated us all the way through and responded to all of our questions very quickly and followed through until delivery day…and followed up afterwards to make sure we were happy. Stellar!!

I hired Extra Mile Vanlines for a move from NYC to North Carolina. Despite completing their mandatory quality assurance review and providing a detailed inventory, they drastically underestimated the space needed.

They subcontracted the job to a third party who claimed they’d stop loading once the estimated cubic footage was reached. That didn’t happen. They kept loading and then hit me with a 125% overcharge to deliver my furniture.

I spoke with four different people at Extra Mile. Not one was honest. Every conversation was a new excuse or contradiction. No accountability, no transparency — just a coordinated bait-and-switch.

This company is not just unprofessional — they are predatory. Do not trust them with your move.

Movers demand 2x fee. You must buy all packing materials. 9 phone calls, 5 text msgs, emails, and left msgs and th3y never cal you back. Movers only took 60% of what was agreed upon. They left over $15,000 in furniture in a house that was sold. Later arrival. Left me in a mess to try a get a truck for a 2500 ride back packing what I could squeeze in it. 2 weeks still no word from broker. Lawyer time ad if they can't quote correctly they n3ed to leave the trucking business. I wa in it as a fleet Mgr for years. Screwing customers is why I left. My original al broker quit after 2 days from my quote. Some dumb arse kid took over. Run Run and run.n

EXTREME WARNING ⚠️ Terrible experience! Stay away from this company! Sales gave me a great price once the truck was loaded they charged me 4x what we agreed on. The movers arrived in the morning smelling like weed and of course delivered our things and everything smelled like weed. They gave me really late times to come start the move and to make a bad situation worse when putting our stuff away we realized the kept 2 nightstands and a couple items, i reached out to hr to get the situation resolved with no answer.

Wildly dishonest company. Sent photos of EVERYTHING included to be moved. Agent under quoted the sale. Mover gets here and presents quote that is ~2x the original price. Refused services. Do not use this company - they will tell you anything to get the sale and then change the price by intentionally under counting the space required.

I booked with extra mile based on their reviews and unfortunately had a terrible experience. It cost twice as much as what I was quoted and took four times longer than they said it would. Here's what went wrong:

* They rebooked my move the day of with a different mover
* They called me as my stuff was going on the truck to double the price they'd quoted me
*They gave the wrong mileage between my old house and my new house to the mover, and he wouldn't deliver my stuff until he found another job along the same route to "make it cost effective." This resulted in my "same day" move taking four days to complete.
* The people who loaded my stuff into a different truck for delivery damaged and broke all of my wooden furniture and much of my glassware and picture frames. It looked like they just threw it in the back of a truck with no care or organization. I'm not talking scratches and dings (although there are certainly plenty of those I didn't have before I moved), I mean damage like they broke a corner with a caster wheel off a solid wooden chemistry table and gouged 3 inch chunks out of my bookcase. I have broken furniture in my living room right now that I can't move by myself and will need to pay to repair.
* When I called Extra Mile to see about getting some money back, I was sent to a manager's voicemail and never had my calls returned.

I'm a pretty easygoing person and take care to be kind to folks working these kinds of difficult manual labor jobs, because 99 times out of 100 they're working way harder than I am. In this case, Extra Mile seemed to only work hard at getting my money, not providing any kind of quality service or reliability. Hungover college students would have done a better job.

Smooth moving process start to end. Great communication all the way in the process. No damages to the furniture or the house while moving. Would definitely recommend them to my friends n family.

We have booked the movers a month and a half in advance. I've been given arrival estimate of 9-12pm few days ahead. For the final inventory review I needed to take a few furniture pieces off, but they said I can't do that since they already reserved the space so I can only add, not remove. I did end up having more boxes than specified, but less furniture than specified. So in the end it would have been similar space usage. So I agreed and said that's fine no changes to inventory.

On the day of the move the truck did not show up. The dispatch kept telling me "don't worry, they're just around the corner should be pulling in now", yet the driver told me he was booked last minute the night before, had other jobs going on, and was 2.5 hours away still unloading those other jobs. The day went by and I just kept getting lies from both the dispatch who kept telling me they are almost there, and the driver who kept giving me new arrival times meanwhile had no intention to be here at the time he would give me.
At 7:30pm two guys in a small sedan car showed up, no truck, no packing materials. Walked through the house to do inventory, at a very leisurely pace, and then told me there is more inventory than originally specified. Well, the company didn't let me adjust the inventory ahead of time as mentioned above.

I was told the truck would be there at 9:30pm. At this point I had no reason to believe anyone would show up and there was no way I was going to load in the middle of the night even if they did. I had to cancel them and scramble to get other movers the next day.

Asked this company to a refund of the deposit, but they have been ghosting me for almost a week. When I finally did manage to talk to Makala in sales (same person who sold me this imaginary moving service), she said all was done correctly on their side. Finally, Derek (from dispatch?), told me stories about how everyone was sick, the driver, the dispatch, etc and sorry they couldn't answer earlier. They said they could refund only $150 but ONLY WITH SIGNED CONTRACT TO NOT POST ANY REVIEWS. What a scam! They can keep the money, I already lost so much with them, that what's another $150. I rather this review helps someone.
I told them that too, and within minutes, they called me back to try to bribe me into not posting this. Kaitlin from settlements, told me the $150 is a settlement and not a refund, since I signed a contract and refund is not possible. Well, I did sign a contract and had every intention to go through with it, IF THE MOVERS SHOWED UP.

Reading through other posts, I'm now realizing I'm lucky to have canceled the pickup and not go through some of the other horror scenarios others did.
I'm happy to join any lawsuits agains these thieves and liars, and hope this post helps others to not fall victim to this scam.

Also, search Facebook for this company name, you will see individual people having similar and worse experiences. Like furniture not delivered in 2-3 weeks, and people having to wait for 3 days , no TV and no internet, for the movers to show up. In a way I'm glad I got out of this when I did to not be stuck with no pick up and no delivery.

0 Star! My experience with Extra Mile Van Lines has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment my move began, I was caught in the middle of poor communication between the broker and the dispatched moving company. I felt completely misled, dismissed, and disrespected throughout the process. I was honest with the salespeople, but my estimate was poorly documented. I signed it without knowing the quoted weight and cubic feet were off, which is why the price was so attractive. As a result, I faced a rate increase of nearly 3x the original amount on the day of my move! This was an unexpected expense that continued to make my experience even more frustrating.

The supervisor I spoke with was hostile, unprofessional, and demeaning. When I tried to express concerns about delays and miscommunication, he repeatedly cut me off, spoke over me, and labeled me as “dramatic.” As a woman managing an interstate move with my family, I began to fear for the safety of my belongings. Knowing that this aggressive team had access to my address made me feel incredibly unsafe. I had to ultimately hang up on him because he was combative, yelling, and completely ignoring me and any form of communication. I shared that I would be in contact with the police due to my fears.

They failed to honor the agreed-upon delivery date and told me I would simply have to “wait as long as it takes.” While still demanding full payment, they asked me to pay them directly, even though I had already paid the dispatched moving company. This company has no communication with them.

This experience has been emotionally exhausting, and the level of disrespect and gaslighting from their staff was appalling.

Do not be fooled by the positive reviews on BBB or Trustpilot. I genuinely question the validity of those ratings.

I regret ever trusting this company with my move. Moves are stressful enough without the added stress of poor communication and customer support. I pray this never happens again.

This company called me after seeing I was on U-Haul. They quoted me 1,800 to move, I then went forward with them. The day before I moved their manager Derek called to let me know he could not find a carrier for that price and stated it would be another $600. What was I to do? I had to accept as this was less than 24 hours before my move. Derek called me again and told me that he would actually be cancelling my move because he STILL could not find anyone. LESS THAN 24 HOURS FROM MY MOVE ACROSS THE US THEY TRIED TO CANCEL. Not only did he try to cancel my move he also hung up the phone on me countless times. This company is HIGHLY unprofessional. Once they found movers they completely stopped communication with me. The mover then charged me $4,618. plus the $770 that extra mile vanlines made me pay to hold my reservation. The movers broke all of my furinture, TVs, and Mattress. When I called Extra Mile about this they told me "I need to call the movers, they are just a broker that sets it up." My question is why pay a brokers fee if they DO NOTHING TO HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS. This company is beyond unprofessional. I would have moved my own belongings had I known extra mile would not help me in any way with damages or the insanely overpriced moving fee. Save your money and time move yourself instead of using this company.
