Booked a holiday two years ago through expidia and a flight was cancelled by the airline, then covid hit and for the last 18 months i've been trying to get my money back, they blame the airline they give false information such as i was issued a flight credit but it is out of date ! , I never wanted a flight credit and when i spoke to the airline they said i had another year to use it if i wanted to if not then expidia needed to sort out the refund,and I wish i had never trusted expidia, they even remove complains from social media. If i could just infuence one person to use the actual airlines and not expidia then this review is worth it. Don't use them because if it goes wrong they flip ypu off
Booked a hotel room for two nights
Booked a hotel room for two nights. Expedia changed the booking to a "buy one night get one free," but doubled the cost of the first night to make up the money, without telling me about it. I had to leave the hotel after the first night due to issues with the hotel. The hotel was willing to refund my stay but since I booked through Expedia I had to contact them. Expedia said since they over charged me for the first night and "gave me a free second night" I was not entitled to any refund. Biggest rip off company out there.

Booked a hotel well in advance. Paid upfront as non-refundable. Arrived at the hotel after an extremely long stressful journey to find it closed.
Later on return home contacted Expedia for refund and compensation. So far after a good few days have received an email saying `'the money is being held by the hotel as it was non-refundable."
Obviously not my responsibility that the stay was cancelled via the hotel being closed and not my issue with the hotel it's Expedia as they took the booking and my money.
Such a shame as until now I've had no issues with Expedia everything has gone super smoothly in the past.
Will never use again absolutely disgraceful.

Pre-covid I booked a hotel in Venice for April 2020. Obviously had to cancel and spoke to the hotel. They were great and advised they had cleared the refund with Expedia.Expedia now advise me that I have a voucher for a future stay which must be used within 12 months. I won't be going to Italy within 12 months as I have Leukaemia and a low immune system but still no refund. Money before morals. Don't trust these people. Just try sending them an email!!!!

I ahd the same experience with a hotel booking in New York, the weekend the city shut down. It was impossible to get through on the phone to Expedia, so i canclled the hotel direct. They sent me a confirmation and stated that NO CHARGES were applicable and i should claim my refund from Expedia. I probably spent 30 - 40 hours on hold, calling at all hours of the day and night 9but at night India takes the calls....). Over and over until I finally reached a live person after 3 weeks.She called the hotel and confirmed - no charges and then it was supposed to hear back within 24 hours. never happened. After my midnight call to india - same story, confirm with hotel 9while I am on hold) and same promise - except now reply to e in 72 hours. never came either, so finally i claimed a refund by way of VISA card and after same hassles they gave me the credit - which of course Expedia could challenge. if they do, I will go to Small claims court, which I can do bc I live not too far from heir headquarter. Never, never, do business with them. Try booking flights and hitels direct, that will be my mantra from now on.

Mit bedste råd må være: bestil aldrig rejser eller hotelophold gennem Expedia/Hotels.com. Jeg og min ægtefælle samt et vennepar havde bestilt 2 hotelværelser i Lissabon, men aflyst pga. coronakrisen, og efter megen korrespondance blev vi lovet en kupon til et senere ophold indenfor 12 måneder fra modtagelse kuponen for vores booking, med henvisning til det konkret bookingnummer, omfattende de 2 værelser. Af en mail før kuponen kom, fremgik det at "we vill be granting 100 % of the amount paid as a credit for a future reservation with us". Da vi modtog kuponen var der imidlertid henvist til "vilkår og betingelser", hvoraf det fremgik at rabatten kun gælder for 1 værelse, uanset om der er booket flere. Og der udstedes intet tilgodehavende, hvis købsprisen er lavere end beløbet på kuponen. Det var jo ikke det, der var blevet lovet os.
Desuden er det ganske umuligt at komme i skriftlig kontakt med Expedia når der forsøges gennem hjemmesiden, og en anden "indgang" medførte kun en svarmail fra en "unmonitored email address", der oplyser at man ikke vil få svar på mailen.
Et telefonisk opkald førte kun til en Supporter, der ingen kompetence havde og ikke forstod at jeg klagede.

Pas på med at handle hotel via denne side!! Den pris der vises, er ikke den reelle. Alt med småt skal læses, der var i mit tilfælde, et ekstra gebyr tvunget “resort gebyr” som ikke umiddelbart er synligt. Og jeg formodede, jo at jeg bestilte til den synlige pris, jeg så på siden, Og at det var den gældende. Derfor bookede jeg bare og betalte med det samme. Men Jeg opdagede så i en mail, at jeg ved ankomst til hotellet skal betale 50 $ pr nat i depositum, samt 41 $ i “gebyr”?. Dette er ikke synligt på siden, når man bestiller. Men når du HAR bestilt, for du en mail med det. Ringede med det samme den mail kom, for at annullere, da prisen var næsten 300 dyrere pr. Nat. + jeg skal betale over 300 pr. nat i depositum. Altså 600 kr ekstra pr. nat, jeg ikke har kalkuleret med. Men desværre er det er bestilt uden afbestillingsgebyr, selvom jeg forsøgte 2 sekunder efter, lige så snart jeg blev klar over den dyrere pris. Det så jeg først på den mail. Jeg troede jo jeg kunne gå ud fra den synlige pris på forsiden, da jeg bestilte. Kundeservice Medarbejderen blev meget vred da jeg ringede op, og jeg måtte flere gange bede om at der blev talt normalt, da vedkommende råbte meget højt. Vedkommende oplever måske vrede kunder dagen lang og er i forsvarsposition. Selvom jeg er høflig. Forsøgte virkeligt ikke at genere vedkommende. Synd for medarbejderen at arbejde sådan et sted. Kig meget grundigt efter, ring evt og spørg om den rigtige pris, inden du bestiller, for du kan ikke rigtigt regne med det der vises. Du skal ihvertfald scrolle alle værelserne igennem helt ned i bunden. Læse alt hvad der står. Jeg vil anbefale alle, at benytte en af de mange andre gode sider, hvor der er synlige priser. Eks. Pris med gebyr og uden gebyr på forsiden. F.eks booking.com eller hotels.com. Der vises den reelle pris. Men når det så er sagt, og thjaaa måtte jo betale prisen. Burde jeg måske lige fortælle, at hotellet lå nærmest midt på times square, selve værelset ikke til 4 stjerner, og sengetøj fandtes ikke på det hotel, bare store lagen med dyner uden sengetøj. Det kunne heller ikke fremskaffes. Men receptionen var rigtig flot. Byens “bustour” startede med stop nr. 1 lige udenfor. Vi havde en fantastisk ferie. Ville have givet 0 stjerner, men ændret til 3. Da det hotellets placering var formidable.

It's already passed 25 days since I've tried to refund my money for a hotel in which I've never stayed. All this situation looks like a fraud and Expedia is doing nothing for investigate it.
After another conversation with Expedia call center, it was promised that supervisor will contact me soon.
I hope we could manage my issue in higher level of management, because client support is absolutely useless.
From a customer service I hear only that they "trying to contact the hotel". They refused to provide me information for how long they will be trying to contact the hotel, how much time they need for the investigation.
I booked Querini Palace Academia Gran Canal Hotel in Venice. According to the hotel's rules I had to contact them before arriving.
I sent them messages via Expedia several times, tried to call, but nobody answered. In a day of my check-in I got a text message from the hotel that they cannot accept my reservation (I sent this message to Expedia customer service). The hotel refused an accommodation from their side, but anyway Expedia still don't want to refund money.
I was not expected that with so many proofs of the hotel's fraud I have to fighting for returning my money.

I will never ever use Expedia again! Just like at least one more person here wrote about that they had to pay 80% of the hotel room even though they thought it was free of charge to cancel. I thought so to and was chocked when I understood I had to pay 80% of the fee even though I canceled 3 weeks ahead! I have booked trough booking.com and hotels.com several times and cancelled and never ever have I been charged like this. So I will tell all I know that they won’t do bookings with you. This is really bad service! Now they get my money and since I canceled several weeks before we were due to come they will for sure rent the room to someone else. I will do my best to let as many people as possible know how you act!!

Vi har bestilt en hotel i Berlin 15/4-19/4 2019 gennem Expedia.
Vi står i den situation den 12/4 at en af os skal have en større operation og afmelder derfor rejsen den 12/4, vi får med det samme af vide at vi mister 80% af beløbet, men da vi bestilte stod der at der fra fri afmelding indtil samme dags morgen.
Vi har nu kun fået 20% tilbage og det er vi meget utilfredse med.
Vi vil aldrig mere bruge Expedia efter denne oplevelse.

Bad, Bad, Bad - Absolutly distgusting
A last minute trip booked to New York for my husband to see his very sick sister. Despite getting an email confirmation from Expedia to say the flight has been confirmed, when I went to do the online check-in I found there was no booking recorded.
After speaking to the airline, they advised nothing was on their system. I then spoke to Expedia, who said everything was fine on their end and that I should speak to the company with my flight details. I explained I spent last 30 minutes giving them every single reference/booking/confirmation number I had and they couldn't find the details.
The operative then said she'd call back after checking with the airline. When she called back and advised for some reason - she didn't know what - the flight out hadn't been booked, and instead of resolving the issue and booking a new flight, I've had to pay out further to get the flight. This is their proceedure while looking into it. I had no choice as the flight is tomorrow!!!
When the operative took all my card details to book the flight they couldn't and said I'd need to go direct to the airlines website and do it myself.
But the kicker is, 18 hours before I my husband is due to fly an automated email has come from Expedia telling us "Due to an error on our site, you had received a successful booking message, but one leg of the booking was in fact unsuccessful. Please note that you have not been charged by Expedia or the Airline for this failed portion of your booking." and instead of fixing it or calling immidiately, "If you wish to rebook the failed leg of your trip, please visit Expedia to rebook your one-way ticket."
I wonder if I hadn't chased them in the first place, would I have recevied an email at all. Expedia have managed to make a very stressful situation extra stressful. We won't be using them again.

Viaggio di ritorno organizzato da incubo: meno male che dicono di essere Leader del settore!!
Parto dalla condizione che ritenevo questa società leader del settore oltre ad un buon interlocutore preparato per effettuare un viaggio.. resto deluso dal ritorno del mio viaggio a Liverpool... organizzata l’andata da Napoli con passaggio e sosta di tre giorni a Monaco ... Aririvati a Manchester auto a seguito prenotata ... fino e qui tutto perfetto come in realtà i precedenti viaggi ... il ritorno sapevo di uno scalo di 21 ore con sosta a Londra ... meravigliato mi accorgo che parto da Munchester, arrivo a Londra LHR Hidro, poi ho un albergo prenotato a 55 minuti ... la meraviglia continua con la partenza il giorno dopo da Londra LGW Gatwick distante 80 minuti dall’albergo prenotato con due bambini e sei valigie a seguito oltre il passeggino. Chiamo Expedia nella mattina antecedente il volo di ritorno dove la prima operatrice dice di capire il mio stato di incassatura di comprendermi ma sentito il suo superiore dice che la prenotazione è datata 1 settembre e non è normale che me ne sia accorto sono il giorno prima della ripartenza. Incazzato al cubo Dico a quest’operatrice di voler parlare con il suo superiore il resto in attesa per 27 minuti dopo che mi si attacchi la telefonata. Richiamo questa volta risponde Enzo, cortese che dice di volermi aiutare, comprende anche lui l’errore dell’operatore che ha combinato il viaggio quel 1aettembre e mi propone due alternative a mie spese: uno Hotel ad Hidro Nelle vicinanze dell’aeroporto oppure un volo da Hidro la sera dell’arrivo per Gatwick hotel a Gatwick sempre a spese mie , reclamando poi al ritorno per un eventuale rimborso. Non è giusto Che un consumatore ,un cliente fidelizzato si affidi ad una compagnia che fa questo per mestiere pagando le giuste commissioni richieste e poi ricevendo un aiuto da zero l’unica cosa che dovevano propormi era visto che io reclamavo i bagagli seguito che il primo settembre avevo pensato di lasciare in sosta all’aeroportO non sapendo che poi sarei partito da un altro Aereoporto con due bambini piccoli valige e passeggino era un aiuto in questo senso quindi magari una navetta invece mi hanno proposto un’alternativa a spese mie che potevo trovare semplicemente su booking senza affidarmi ad esperti che sono risultati meno che scarsi per il mio itinerario . Quest’ultima esperienza per questo viaggio con Expedia ha messo il punto sull’utilizzo di questo operatore Internazionale di cui mi servivo spesso e che farò a meno per i miei prossimi viaggi . è uno schifo totale. Spero ci sia quel responsabile a Leggermi . Reclamerò con Altroconsumo di cui sono associato. Per qualsiasi problematica “ pesante” che incorrerò per questo ritorno riterrò responsabili l’operatore che mi ha servito il 1/9/2018, gli operatori a cui stamattina ho dedicato più di un ora della mia vacanza a telefono per reclamare le mie ragioni, e quel responsabile per cui sono stato ad ascoltare 27 minuti di musichetta !
