Only giving it a 1 because there is no 0. The item was billed as a "warm sweater". It was nothing of the sort -- fabric was thin, not warm and ugly. Since this was my first time ordering from the company I had pre-checked the return policy which says: RETURNS

Can I return my order?
Yes, you can return your order within 30 days of receipt if you are not satisfied with your purchase. However, the following conditions must be met:

The item must be returned in its original condition, including all components, accessories, and packaging.
The product must show only normal handling; damage due to improper use is not eligible for return.
Hygiene-sensitive products must be thoroughly cleaned before being returned.
If the item is defective upon arrival, it must be reported immediately.
The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs.
We reserve the right to reject returns if items appear to be used, damaged, or do not meet our return conditions.

HOW TO RETURN YOUR ORDER

Once we receive your request, we will provide you with the correct return address. Do not send returns to the sender's address. Returns must be sent to the address provided by our team.

So, I followed these directions and for the last several weeks have been receiving offers (discounts on future purchases, etc.) in lieu of returning the item. The problem is that the returns need to go overseas and so while they're trying to save you the exorbitant cost of shipping, they're also trying to frustrate so you just give up and they don't need to return your money. They use every tactic possible including pointing out the carbon emissions involved in a return. They suggest you donate the item to someone "who may not have the budget for something new". Their tactics are despicable trying to guilt you into giving up. They will make it impossible for you to return the item and waste a lot of your time in the process. The company is unethical in its conduct and it needs to be shut down. Be forewarned!

RATING ZERO STARS IF I COULD. COMPLETE SCAM. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY PHOTOS OF CLOTHING THAT APPEAR AS QUALITY AND CHIC. THE WEBSITE IS A FRONT AND CLOTHING IS SHIPPED FROM ASIA. This company is a scam. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. The clothing is of very poor quality. It is not what they advertised on their website. HORRIBLE THEY DONT EVEN DESERVE A 1. Everything they sell is 100 polyester, ill fitted items. Horrible material. They claim they are based in Boston but my package came from Asia. Just horrible

Returns/Exchanges are not simple and are EXPENSIVE. Despite the website's disclosure that this store is located in Boston (USA) the clothing comes from ASIA and the cost of the return is on the customer. When I brought this point up to the customer service department they simply said "they take my concern seriously apologize for any inconvenience." I will not shop with this store again.

Sharing info on how everyone can flood the government regulating agency about this company so they can shut them down. I filed a formal complaint at the following (haven't yet heard back, but recommend that you do too):

I bought 3 items. What looked like cute shoes turned out to be cloth over plastic that collapse when trying on. I got 2 sweathers. They were both very badly made and way too small. Sweaters felt like wearing nylon.
Looked on line and Temu has the exact items for a fraction of the cost or for 0$.
They offered to send me larger sizes if I pay them $10. Toward shipping. Then they offered 10%, then 20%. After reading that someone got 30%, I asked for the address which I got and checked with us-postal for 2lbs it’s $50. They said to keep the value low so they don’t have to pay high tariffs.
Then I told them that I would take no less than 50%. They returned my 50%.
I will never buy from them or any of these cheep Chinese companies again. It’s nothing but junk they sell to us. Such a SCAM!!!

Total scam. The sweater I irdered clearly was NOT an XL as ordered. I could barely fit it over my head (I am 5'6" and 155 pounds). When i requested return information i received an email response that the return would be very expensive as it had to be returned to an address in Asia, and that instead I could keep the item for a 10%discount which I did not accept.

I really wish I had come here first before ordering. I was scammed for sure. The items are SO cheap and poorly made, I didn’t even try them on. They looked nothing like the website. They make it impossible to do a return. I’m going to dispute with my credit card. (Has anyone had luck with that?)

Would do 0 stars if an option. The photos on the website look great, and describe cotton/linen fabric. What arrived was cheap polyester with a blurry screen print - total garbage. Lots of haggling and offers for further discounts and no refund yet, despite the website claiming full refunds if not satisfied.

Horrible. Kept saying they were a small family business in Boston. Not true. Their website shows a shop with nice clothes. Not true. When my order was not moving they said that they were out of stock at their store and it had to come from China!! They just kept lying while it took over 3 weeks to receive a dress, that had a bad smell, did not look like to photos and was really poor quality. Returns are a joke. It costs over 50% of the price to return it. After three emails, still never received an address to return it to. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY - AN ABSOLUTE SCAM!

Ordered some dresses and shoes that were of poor quality. Dresses did not fit and shoes were flimsy. The only reason I ordered was because This company makes it seem as if you operate entirely from Boston making returns easy. THEY DON'T. ALL OF THEIR PRODUCTS COME FROM ASIA. However, having to return items to Asia possesses a very difficult challenge. Why can't we just return the items to their Boston location and they take care of where it goes from there. That would be a more customer-friendly way of doing business. Having to keep items that don't fit just because of the difficulty of returns is unacceptable even offering 20% back. That amount is nothing compared to the amount paid for the items that will not be used. Talk about sustainability, throwing out clothing is NOT sustainable. Throwing away money is NOT sustainable either.

Needless to say I am very disappointed with the way they handled returns. I will tell everyone and anybody NOT to order from you company ever.

I ordered a dress from them, and first of all, they screwed up the ship-to address, and I had to send three email reminders and to get confirmation that they fixed it, but when I received the notification that the dress had shipped, it was still going to the wrong address! Finally, after the fourth email and the address finally corrected, but after a month, it never arrived. I had to send Ellis & Porter three more emails to customer service telling them it never arrived, but kept getting the same response over and over again, that I need to continue looking for it. I did not appreciate being doubted. I demanded a full refund and told them that I will never purchase anything from them ever again, and still haven’t received a response from them. This was my first and last time ordering from them, and it was one of the worst online shopping experiences and worst customer service ever! I still have not received a refund, but luckily, I no longer have to deal with them because my bank processed a credit and reversed the charge for me, permanently.
I do not recommend purchasing anything from this store!

In reading about 10 to 12 reviews on here, after the fact, I’m glad I didn’t waste my time asking them to send me a replacement and went straight to my bank and ask them to reverse the charge for me. I recommend to anyone who’s struggling to get a refund from this scamming business in China, not to even bother with them and go to your bank first and tell them what happened, all the bad reviews they’ve gotten and that they are fraudulent company. Ask your bank or credit card company to reverse the charge for you, themselves. All my bank asked me to upload with a copy of the receipt.

the dresses were beautiful but did not fit. To return them they told me I will need to send them to Asia at a cost of $25. per item.

Absolute joke of a business ..the stupid brown shade trench coat they advertise for $69 originally $300 is a lie. I received this coat and thought wow how cheap could you be. And of course no label just a tag that said size medium when I wrote them to share my experience and how I wanted to return the coat and get a refund it all went downhill from there. First they said they could replace it I said not if it’s going to be the exact same material what’s the point..then they offered me 30% off my next purchase I didn’t reply until today and asked for a replacement maybe I should get the small ..well now they tell me they are sold out and can give me a 20% discount or a refund but it will cost $20 to $25 ..oh and come to find out they don’t even have a store in Boston. Again this place is an absolute joke ..low quality clothes 100%..oh and just got another email from them that they will offer me a 10% refund and I can keep the item..🤦🏻‍♀️..no thank you!

I f i go give a lower rating, I would for sure. Do not order from this company. Totally misleading. They are not in Boston as the website says and they do not 100% refund your money. They will offer you 10% off your next purchase or 20% back and you keep the cheap low quality crap they sent you. In order to receive a refund, you'll need to pay shipping back to China which will most likely eat up a good bit of money. Sleazy scammers.

Total scam company. The photos do not show the true garbage quality of the products. It may look textured; embroidered or nice, but it is very cheap polyester with screen printing. Good luck attempting to return. It has to be sent at your expense to China. There is a disclaimer if it is not received, too bad. In other words if you do choose to ship it, you will probably never get any credit. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! They are not in Boston they are in China

As many other people have mentioned, this so called company is a scam. The clothing is inferior- the return policy costs as much in shipping as the item itself. This company should be shut down by the Government . Do Not BUY ANYTHING From this company

This is a FAKE company and home address is same for many other fake companies. Typical poor quality, difficult to work with, switch and bait on refund... wants me to keep subpar dresses and offered 10% then 20% and finally 30% refund ONLY if I keep them. Then said I might not get a refund if I actually return them. Grr! They avoid answering where the origin of the shipment was until the final no to partial refund. I asked LONG before I ordered. Super shady!
