Jeg erfarte dette selv nå akkurat. Jeg måtte bruke avis desverre fordi noen kjørte på min parkerte bil. Motpart hadde tryg Forsikkring og skulle betale for hele oppholdet og dekke leiebil som erstatning for min egen som står på skadeverksted og de har avtale med avis. 😓
På vei til levering av leiebilen kom det en stein sprut på ruta fra en annen bil som kjørte forbi oss på e-18 og lagde en rose og liten sprekk selvfølgelig.
Dette vil AVIS klandre deg som leier bilen for! En Så umulig og uforutseende ting som steinsprut, skal du betale for sier dem å sender deg regningen på minimum 4000kr men helt opp til 10.000kr hvis du låner privat!
Det værste er, det står ingen ting i vilkårene dems at steinsprut skal dekkes av leietaker spesifikt! Det står om generell skade!
Advokater som er involvert og snakket med beskriver bilskader slik:
«En bilskade er der 2 eller flere er involvert og saken har en skyldig person. eller sjåfør selv har kjørt inn i en død gjenstand og kan følgelig klandres»
En steinsprut er beskrevet slik:
«Ikke en bilskade» men «en slitasje / bruskskade»
Tryg vendte også rygge til dette å mener at dette skal du som er offeret i saken, betale for.
Min anbefaling:
- Havner du i samme situasjon, ikke godta leiebil fra AVIS, og vær EVT veldig nøye med vilkårene til leiebil selskapet Som brukes! Spørr om disse tingene før du signerer kontrakt.
- ikke ta i mot leiebil fra motparts Forsikkring, Ta heller taxi og send regning til motparts Forsikkring så er du trygg i såfall!
I WAS SCAMMED
Be very carefull if you hire a car from this company. After returning my vehicle in Canaries with no damage, I found a £170 charge on my credit card for accident repairs. After over 10 emails and many phone calls , they are still unable to confirm where the damage was. Basically a scam to get more cash. I've now disputed with my credit card company and will refuse to pay it . If this doesn't resolve the issue I intend taking it to the European consumer centre who will look into any European hire car Disputes. Avis/Budget Group have appalling customer service and will not reply to any emails . I will avoid using them in future.
SCAM, burned for 500 Euro on unwanted insurance AFTER returning the car
The company charged me almost 500 Euro for "premium excess waiver" without discussing this with me at any point - after I had already returned the car.
Only after re-examining the rental agreement did I notice this hidden away under the pinned deposit receipt. The employee went so far to fold the agreement and pin the deposit receipt right on top of the cost breakdown to conceal the charge and waited until I returned the car to charge my credit card. I never authorised a second payment so they must have taken it from the deposit.
When called to complain, I was referred to two support email addresses, on inactive domains. There are no other ways to contact them. The phone number listed on Avis support site is inactive.
Checking Trustpilot and Google reviews I see the same thing happened to many other people so this is an ongoing scam.
Ohne PIN ist man nichts
Ich hatte einen Mietwagen bei Avis reserviert und wollte ihn am 25.04.2022 morgens am Flughafen Palma de Mallorca abholen. Beim Bezahlen der Sicherheit bin ich es gewohnt, den Kredikartenbeleg zu unterschreiben und nicht meine PIN zu benutzen (die ich im Übrigen auch schon lange vergessen hatte). Ergebnis: Ich konnte den Wagen nicht mieten, ich musste ein Taxi für das 35 km entfernte Ziel nehmen und kam zu spät zu einem geschäftlichen Termin. Mir ist dadurch Schaden entstanden. Die Mietkosten wurden nicht erstattet.
Ich miete häufiger Autos und bisher war dies überall "klassisch" möglich - also durch Unterschreiben des Belegs.
Davon unabhängig bedeutet dies, dass jemand, der keine Kreditkarte besitzt (und davon gibt es viele Menschen in Deutschland) bei AVIS kein Auto mieten kann.
Ich hatlte dies für diskriminierend und werde klären, ob dies mit dem europäischen Rechtsvorschriften zum Verbraucherschutz vereinbar ist.
Von all diesem abgesehen, fühlt man sich wie ein Stück Dreck behandelt.

Avis is a big jocke in Albania. Rented a car 7-seater. Got a 7 seater. Totally destroyed, never cleaned, red lights indicating that some things was not working, old as hell.
At least clean the car before renting, and when did Avis rent cars that warnings lights indicating that’s stuff is not working. This is a big Joke.
That was the most unpleasant experience ever renting a car!!

I won't recommend Avis
Waited for over an hour for pick up at Geneva airport. Was given a car that was covered in scratches and paperwork that showed no such scratches. I therefore had to delay my trip, go back to the representative and wait and have the vehicle details updated, so that I did not get charged for this damage upon my return. A month later they informed me there was fine imposed on the car during my rental! They have charged me 42 euro for giving my details to a third party. Really! 42 euros for checking a database for my name and address, seems like another con trick. I won't be using Avis in the future.
Günstiger Mietpreis, dann Abzocke
Entgegen den Mietbedingungen wegen ein paar fehlenden Litern einen vollen Tank zu verrechnen, ist nicht in Ordnung. Zwei nicht nachvollziehbare Servicegebühren drauf zu schlagen, ebenfalls nicht.
Das ist reine Geldschneiderei!
Da zahle ich in Zukunft lieber etwas mehr bei einem anderen Anbieter. Dies kommt dann unterm Strich günstiger.

I recently rented a car from Avis at Malaga airport. When I returned it undamaged I was told the checker was too busy to look at my car. About 2 hrs later I received a mail saying the car was scratched. They supplied an email address if I had a problem.I am adamant there was no damage. The email provided by Avis bounced back, no reply possible. I guess thats Avis customer service or rather how to extract extra money from the customer BEWARE.

Fraudulent fuel charge on return
Rented from grenoble Airport. The first car I was offered had a flat rear tyre upon my arrival. Upon showing them, we were given a petrol Ford puma as a replacement. One week later of happy driving, I return the car full of fuel with no dramas. Two days later I received an invoice listing an additional 120eur for refuelling. This surprised me as we refilled the car at the nearest super U petrol station before returning it.
On the phone to customer services, I had to provide evidence of refuelling - so provided a receipt and a bank transaction.
I asked for a breakdown of the 120eur fuel charge. The assistant said it was a sum of the staff costs, mileage and fuel needed to refill the car. I asked how much fuel went into the car. She responded that the car had been filled with 7.3L of diesel.
Avis tried to charge me 120eur for 7.3L of diesel for a petrol car that I returned full.
Keep a hold of your fuel reciepts everyone.

Made a booking which AVIS Sweden (Karlstad) cancelled by AVIS due to no availability, they still charged us the whole rental amount.

I sat +60 min on Hold just to be put on "mute" (the jazz muzak stopped) and then hear a person go "uhm" and click**. Its been months with no reply to emails.
They are truly crooks.
Not to be used again
Not to be used again. Picked up a car ( not the one ordered from home on-line ) in Palma Airport at Mallorca. Month after comming home, a snail mail letter show up, its have been underway fra Avis office in Bulgaria, teling that some traffic / police ticket have been showing up. The letter says noting on what ? And Avis just take 42.35 EUR for sending this no value information, indstead of using an email, they allready have on the hire contract. Trying to tell Avis this, but the complaint website would accept the contract number, OMG.

I picked up a rental car from Avis (Dublin Airport) which was pre-arranged by my company.
Whilst I was being served, the clerk was distracted by helping someone else with a query and failed to mention that he had added additional insurances to my rental. I had not asked for these insurances to be added.
I was asked to sign the damage sheet and the verification sheet (on a screen), but was not shown the sheet with the additional charges. I was told a holding charge would be placed on my debit card, which I expected from previous experience with car rentals, which I assumed would be cancelled upon the car being returned.
When I returned home, I found that part of the holding charge had become and actual charge on my card.
I contacted Avis' customer service team who said that I "chose & signed for Personal Accident insurance at €8 per day & roadside assistance at €5 per day& windscreen cover at €4 per day.".
They also provided me with a copy of my rental agreement, which was signed by me, however my signature on the cost breakdown page was digitally copied in to place. I was not shown this page and did not place my signature on the page.
I have told them that I did not ask for the additional insurances, I was not told about them and that they are misrepresenting my signature by stating that it is proving my acceptance of the charges.
Avis have agreed to partially refund me (just under half the money), however I sought to retrieve the full amount back as I was charged for products I hadn't asked for. After many emails back and forth, Avis have refused to do any more and closed the customer service ticket on me.
The whole experience has left me feeling scammed and there's just too many coincidences for this to be a series of mistakes.
The clerk added products I didn't ask for, never showed me the correct documentation to show the costs added, my signature was copied to make it look like I'd signed for it (which I'm sure is illegal), the costs were taken after I'd returned the car, so I didn't question it until after I returned my car and the customer service just fobbed me off with a partial refund saying that I'd chosen and signed for the products. Sounds like a scam to me.

When we booked there was an offer of £50 Amazon voucher on return we have been home a month and no voucher !!

Pessima esperienza. Noleggio un auto per lavoro per un periodo di circa 2 settimane. Scelgo l'opzione prepagato così è possibile risparmiare dei soldi sul noleggio (ma NON è vero). Il lavoro termina prima quindi riconsegno la macchina con qualche giorno di anticipo. Alla riconsegna mi dicono che comunque essendo un prepagato mi addebiteranno l'importo comprensivo anche di quei giorni di non utilizzo auto (quindi non c'è risparmio). La grossa sorpresa arriva dopo. Per i contratti prepagati NON EMETTONO FATTURA. Chiedo spiegazioni e mi dicono che è così e che probabilmente è scritto da qualche parte nel contratto (non so se c'è scritto, ma se c'è sarà la classica frase sibillina introvabile in una marea di condizioni che ti fanno firmare). Una società serie (quindi non Avis Budget Group) la fattura la emette per qualsiasi servizio offerto a prescindere del tipo di pagamento.

Worse than useless, I arrived to collect my car at Stansted Airport and they had all gone home, no message and none of the numbers left worked. I was forced to hire a car from another company on the spot at 4 times the price.
Appalling service from Avis Budget Group in Sicily
I had a car in Sicily for two weeks and found the service from Avis Budget Italia very poor. I complained and one calendar month later have no response
I upgraded the car on check in with Avis Budget at Palermo airport on the basis that I was told the upgraded vehicle would have Sat Nav – it did not have! I reported this at handover and was told I would get a discount. I haven't!
The car came with automatic lane control. I was not warned of this and have never used this technology before – not warning a driver of automatic lane control could be dangerous. When you suddenly find the wheel fighting you and have no idea why it is most concerting!
I asked to return the car full of petrol but I believe I have been made to pay for a full tank up front.
Talking with the agent at check-in was very difficult as the counter at Palermo Airport is so small and was so busy.
I cannot see that my BA account has been awarded any Avios points for this rental!
Case number T9411971 from my email of complaint on 11/10 has been completely ignored. Avis do not 'try harder', they do NOT TRY AT ALL! Unless I receive some satisfaction, I shall not be using Avis Budget again.

At Malpensa Italy. In order to have a seamless experience with Avis you have to join their preferred membership6is free.
When you arrive the car is waiting for you and, typically, you'll find a nicer car. When you return the car, it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to checkout. Ig you showed out earlier, you'll get6 your final invoice in your email. How more convinient can it get. If you are returning to USA. Walk to the lobby of the Marriott Hotel, ask in the lobby where you can get your covid test. In 10 minutes +€40 you are ready to board. Arrivederci.
Be careful! Take good pictures of the rental car before and after your trip
We rented a car from Avis Oslo Airport. We were offered full insurance but since our destination was in countryside, we considered it unnecessary and declined. When we returned the vehicle back, the Avis employers had no time for inspection and said we could just go. We took pictures of the car just in case and left. To our huge surprise, the bill that Avis emailed us later that day was charging us additional NOK 1111,00 for a (non-existing?) front shield damage of 3-5mm. Likely, we had pictures to document that the damage they claimed (if any) could not be ascribed to us. After several email rounds, Avis withdraw their claim, apologized and gave us vouchers to compensate.
This situation was solved alright for us but just imagine how difficult it could have been for people arriving from and returning to abroad who might have no camera or time for taking pictures as scrupulously as we did.
In addition:
- We chose Avis among several other rental offices at Oslo airport because they offered cars with ski boxes according to their home page. We ordered online and pre-paid but to our surprise discovered no ski box on the car when we came to fetch it. We returned to the office and complained but there were no ski boxes available. We were then offered a bigger car but still no ski box. Although it was a solution we accepted, it did not offer the same comfort during the trip as we had to place our ski gear inside the car which was quite cumbersome. Strange that Avis advertises and charges you for extras they do not actually provide. This makes online competition with other companies very unfair.
- Avis tried to charge us for an extra day without warning just because we came to the rental office 30 min before the appointed time on the 1st day of rental. Make sure you do not arrive too early unless you think 30 min is worth a whole day price.
- The car we got had minor scratches not registered on the form that you get along with the car keys. According to explanation from Avis employees, the company does not register damages < 1 cm on this form. Take pictures of those as Avis do charge customers for damages of that size (see above).

Meget meget dårlig oplevelse. Vi fik en agent, som ikke forklarede os hvilke extra omkostninger, som ville påløbe lejen ved kørsel i Italien. Vi fik en lejekontrakt, hvor der var lavet en estimeret pris incl vejafgifter og lufthavnafgifter. Sjovt nok var disse med på faktura efter aflevering af bilen - hvilket i øvrigt blev gjort uden nogen modtagelse fra AVIS. Det viste sig at den estimerede vejafgift - for kørsel på motorvej - var lagt oveni regning. Vi havde dog selv betalt for vejafgift seperat og ingen fortalte om at vi ville blive opkrævet for denne afgift..
Skuffende og mangelfuld service/information fra en så stor udlejer...
