Llevo muchos años trabajando como recepcionista en cadenas hoteleras de Canarias y, por los problemas q han tenido mis clientes, tengo más q claro Avis es el peor Rent a Car con diferencia.
Pues bien, hice una reserva para mi viaje a Hamburgo con Budget. Cuando llegué a la oficina del aeropuerto, fue cuando me di cuenta de q Budget es Avis. Para mí desgracia, reservé con la compañía q yo misma desaconsejo a mis clientes. Cuando devolví el coche siguiendo las instrucciones de Avis, avisé en la oficina para q revisasen el coche. Dos veces lo dije dos veces me dijo el chico q no era necesario, q me enviarían un email. No tardaron en mandarlo. Al aterrizar, nos encontramos con q nos reclaman casi 1.500€ por daños q no hicimos. Ahora toca perder tiempo y energía en reclamar.
No vuelvo a reservar con Avis Budjet ni aunque fuera la única opción posible.

Eftersom at vi kunne dokumentere, at skaden var påført før vores leje, finder de nu på en ny skade, som vi skulle have påført. Vi kan fortsat dokumentere, at det var en skade der var påført, før vi lejede bilen.
De er upålidelige, de er uhumske, det er svindel og bedrag, og jeg fatter simpelthen ikke, at de ansatte i det firma, kan se sig selv i spejlet.
AVIS Biludlejning er nu anmeldt til politiet for forsøg på svindel og bedrag. HOLD JER LANGT VÆK!
Vi skulle leje en varevogn til flytning. Vi fik en fejl/mangel/skade liste ved afhentning (der var 7 fejl/skader/mangler på bilen ved afhentning).
Vi fik flyttet og afleverede bilen - nu har vi modtaget en meddelelse om, at der er sket en skade på bilen i vores varetægt. De sender et billede som dokumentation. På vores billeder (vi tog billeder af alle sider af bilen), som vi tog ved afhentning er der selv samme skade. Dvs. det er IKKE sket ved vores leje!
Vi konfronterer den med det pr. telefon. Jeg får fat i en - Jeg tror hun hed Winnie. Rimelig ubehøvlet og ikke særlig serviceminded. Hun forklarer at det er vores ansvar - men hun forstår bare ikke, at skaden ikke er forårsaget af os. Hun gør meget ud af at forklare, at de går meget op i at tjekke bilen for skader før og efter leje. Jeg spurgte om hun havde et billede af bilen FØR lejen - det kunne hun desværre ikke hjælpe med. Heldigvis tog vi billeder inden vi kørte afsted ved afhentning.
Vi er i dialog med dem - og vi sender vores dokumentation ind til en mail, som jeg får oplyst.
Jeg synes det er decideret tarveligt og ærgerligt, at tillid og ordentlig behandling ikke er deres førsteprioritet og deres vision. Det er fuldstændig ude af proportioner.
Går den, så går den - og den forretningsmodel bryder jeg mig IKKE om. I sidste ende kan man jo til nødt politianmelde dem for svindel. Jeg LEJER aldrig bil hos Avis mere - og jeg ville ønske, at jeg havde tjekket trustpilot før leje!

J’ai loué un véhicule chez Avis et j’ai reçu une contravention injustifiée. Pour pouvoir la contester, j’avais simplement besoin de la carte grise du véhicule. Malgré plus d’un mois d’appels, de mails et de relances, je n’ai jamais obtenu le document.
L’agence locale, le service client en ligne et par téléphone se renvoyaient la balle en permanence, sans jamais m’apporter de solution concrète. Finalement, j’ai été contraint(e) de payer l’amende, faute d’avoir les informations nécessaires à temps. Un vrai parcours du combattant, pour une simple feuille qu’ils auraient dû me fournir immédiatement.
C’est une arnaque organisée : aucun suivi, aucun sens du service. FUYEZ cette agence. Ne louez jamais chez Avis, vous serez totalement abandonné en cas de problème.

Myself and my family were going to Mallorca the first week in June, we normally book a car for a couple of days. The week before our holiday Air Lingus recommendations for car hire for 2 weeks the price was very good and it was with Avis budget Palma, my husband booked a petrol car for the 2 weeks and we could pick it up in Palma airport. When my husband went to collect the car they said he had booked an Electric car, my husband said why would I book an Electric car when I had never driven one and the car he booked was petrol, my husband said he didn't want the car and wanted what he ordered. The girl said would you like the change the car to petrol he said yes the girl then went onto say we would have to pay an extra 25eur a day to change the car, my husband said but I ordered a petrol car in the first place and you want extra money for your mistake. My husband said no he wouldn't be paying any extra they also wanted €22eur a day for car insurance my husband said no and the girl said if there was any damage to the car we would have to pay €2000.00 and that the car had to be 70% when we dropped the car back or we would have to pay €200. We took the car for the 2 weeks but having the car completely ruined our holiday the stress of trying to charge it was absolutely awful I cried most of the holiday, we even spent 2 whole days driving around looking for chargers. We went to petrol stations only to be told we had to have a Spanish driving licence, we went to a supermarket and we were told to download apps after apps, some of the apps wanted my husbands bank details, passport and driving licence details. We went to Palma and taught we could charge it in the car park only to find out we needed a certain card but you could only get it if you were a resident of Mallorca. Mallorca Doesn't have the infrastructure to cater for electric cars. We went to Cala dor they only had 2 charges and they weren't working, we were staying in PortoColom and they had 4 but only 2 were working but they were always in use. One day we got to charge out car for 4 hours within the 4 hours it went from 69%- 74%, at one stage we were at 20%and we didn't even know if the car would get us back to the airport, eventually we got to charge the car and had to leave it charge for 2 days. The stress over the car was awful and all I could do was cry. I'm not sure what Avis budget are trying to pull with tourists but the people in front and behind my husband when collecting the car had ordered petrol and were given Electric cars. I feel that nobody is hiring Electric cars so they are just telling people that's what they hired when they collect the cars, my advice is when hiring from this company screen shot everything take pictures of the car when you collect it and when dropping it back also take pictures of the Percentage in the car when dropping it back. Since I've gotten home I've been trying to contact this company to complain but I can't find any details to contact them. We have been going to Mallorca for years and never has our holiday been ruined over a car. When we collected the car we couldn't believe how many Electric cars were in the car park for hire, even the residents were we were staying said no one wants the Electric cars.

Bei AVIS/BUDGET in USA 4 verschiedene Fahrzeuge angemietet (via Vermittlung CARTRAWLER) und jedesmal, obwohl vollgetankt rückgestellt von der Kaution eine hohe Summe einbehalten. CARTRAWLER und BUDGET meinen die Beweislast liegt bei uns, also an alle - Fotografiert mit dem Mitarbeiter am Bild die Tankanzeige. In unserem Fall hat nichtmal ein Liter gefehlt, da jedesmal bei Airporttankstelle getankt. Finger weg von BUDGET/AVIS.

More than 6 months without a refund - completely unacceptable
I rented a car from Avis Budget Portugal from November 30 to December 2, 2024. During that short rental period, the vehicle was damaged by a third party. The official accident report clearly shows I was not at fault.
I submitted all required documentation right after the incident. Still, more than six months have passed without any refund. Repeated emails and clearly stated deadlines were simply ignored.
As a result, I have already filed formal complaints via the Portuguese consumer complaint system (Livro de Reclamações) and the European Consumer Centre.
No refund. No explanation. No accountability.
This experience shows a complete lack of customer care. If anything goes wrong, you’re left entirely on your own.
Aluguei um carro na Avis Budget Portugal de 30 de novembro a 2 de dezembro de 2024. Durante esse curto período, o veículo foi danificado por um terceiro. A responsabilidade foi claramente atribuída ao outro condutor, como consta na Declaração Amigável.
Entreguei toda a documentação exigida logo após o incidente. No entanto, já se passaram mais de 6 meses e ainda não recebi qualquer reembolso. Enviei vários e-mails e defini prazos claros – nunca recebi uma resposta conclusiva.
Apresentei uma reclamação oficial através do Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico e abri um processo no Centro Europeu do Consumidor.
Até hoje: nenhum reembolso, nenhuma solução, nenhuma explicação.
É lamentável que uma empresa como a Avis Budget deixe o cliente completamente desamparado numa situação como esta. Não recomendo de forma alguma.
DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS IN EURPOE!!!
I rented a car from Avis Geneva airport, drove the car for a week, returned the car. When my credit card bill arrived, Avis had charged me an additional $1,000 UDS. After two weeks of calls and getting different stories from different customer service agents I am beyond frustrated. The last agent told me the additional charge was because the car had been in an accident. I have asked for proof of the accident, disputed the charged with my credit card company. Today I received a possible fraud alert for another charge from Avis. So I have file another dispute with this latest charge and cancelled my credit card Avis has on file. I was never able to get a human being on the phone to help me sort out this issue and was instead told to submit an email to their customer service department. Around and around we go. DO NOT EVER RENT FROM AVIS IN EURPOE. They are absolutely horrible and I feel there is a definite SCAM in their business. Because of this experience I will never use Avis in the US again (where I live). This saga is not over but I needed to let others know what my experience has been so far.

I rented a car from Avis Budget in Edinburgh and found the fuel tank almost empty at pickup. I told a staff member (Rob), who said I didn’t need to refuel before returning the car, so I returned it empty as well.
Later, I was charged £55.12 for fuel without any prior notice or explanation. No prepaid fuel option was offered or documented. Customer service refused a refund, asking for photos I didn’t take because I trusted their staff.
The car was fine, but the poor communication and lack of transparency made this frustrating. Be sure to take photos and get everything in writing if you rent from here.
Prepared to be scammed!
I hired a car from Nice airport France. Picked it up at 11pm and was advised that they "knew about damage" on the vehicle. I returned it two days later with a full tank of petrol and in the same condition. However when I entered the airport, I was charged £1000 for "damage to the vehicle" which I did not do! CS are useless and as I didn't take out their insurance protection, Amex are not on my side either. Hugely disappointed.
Double charged me
Rental Agreement Number 373254092 - I hired a car with Avis in Tampa through British Airways flights. Upon returning the vehicle Avis have billed me £1,000 for the cost of renting the vehicle even though it was paid through British Airways. Called Avis Tampa and after trying to explain the lady hung up on me, called again and eventually told by Sol that I would receive a refund in 3-5 days (no email confirmation of this so I promptly emailed Avis) a week later and still no refund and no reply to my email either. The customer service is non existent. Not using these lot again.
Update 18/5 - still nothing from Avis, completely ignoring me so have raised a chargeback through my credit card. This company are a disgrace, avoid at all costs

Und alles schlechte was man sagen kann. Ich werde nie wieder mit Avis Budjet zu tun haben, sie versuchen vorhandene Schäden am Auto auf Kosten der Mieter reparieren!, das sind hochgradige Betrüger, man solle denen die Lizenz entziehen, aber leider ist es Deutschland normal solche Betrüger agieren zu lassen, herzlichen Glückwunsch an Rechtstaat Germany.
Es ist einfach wiederlich mit solche Betrüger kommunizieren zu müssen.

An appalling experience
An appalling experience. Car broke down which of course can happen any time. Avis in Italy were only interested in one thing - recovering the vehicle. We were stranded in rural Umbria and we incurred substantial transportation cost. To add insult to injury I had to get a car hire arbitration service involved to recover the cost of the two days I was without a vehicle. Six months later I still haven’t received the refund. Impossible to speak to anyone. Just about the worst customer service I have received in a lifetime.
Dårlig erfaring med Avis avd Alna
Avis avd Alna skulle ha det til at jeg hadde lagd skraper til 13.000kr. Jeg fikk sendt dokumentasjon av at det var der før jeg tok i bruk bilen. De kranglet frem og tilbake og sa at dokumentasjonen min var uklar. Etter mange mailen frem og tilbake ga de seg med noe, men syns fortsatt at det var dårlig dokumentasjon av en skrape på 3 cm som ikke var der da jeg tok bilde av bilen før jeg leverte den tilbake (vanskelig å ta bilde av skraper som ikke er der). Tok bilde av at det ikke var noe der og tidspunkt på når jeg leverte bilen. Så, min erfaring er at de gjør seg vanskelige og bruker lang tid på å svare kunder. De leter etter måter og tjene penger på og utnytter kunder.

Die Erfahrug bisher machen musste, ist völlig inakzeptabel. Der Mietwagen wurde mir am Flughafen Catania CTA bei Mietbeginn in einem schlechten Zustand mit diversen Mängeln und Vorschäden übergeben. Das Schadensprotokoll musste ich an Ihrem Budgetschalter unterschreiben, bevor ich den Mietwagen selbst sehen durfte. Nach meinem Verweis auf die beachtliche Schadensliste wurde von der Mitarbeiterin am Schalter bestätigt, dass bei der Abholung des Mietwagens ein Mitarbeiter die bestehenden Schäden nochmals mit mir anschauen und gemeinsam abgleichen würde. Vor Ort bei der Abholung des Mietwagens am Parkplatz weigerten sich Ihre Budgetmitarbeiter mit Verweis auf mangelnde Englischkenntnisse (mein Einwand, über Google Translate zu kommunizieren, wurde ignoriert), den Mietwagen mit uns gemeinsam anzuschauen und mit dem Protokoll abzugleichen. Das ist absolut unprofessionell und mir so noch nie begegnet an Serviceleistung. Nach Rückgabe soll ich nun für angeblich neue Schaden haftbar gemacht werden. Eine Schadenforderung von über 2000 Euro ohne jeglichen Nachweis und trotz gebuchter Vollkasko. Buchen sie niemals bei dieser FIrma!!!

Huur hier geen auto, maar als je dat toch moet doen, bereid je dan goed voor: maak uitgebreid foto's van de staat van de auto en laat een medewerker aanwezig zijn bij de start en het einde van de inhuur die schriftelijk bevestigt dat de auto in goede staat is. Dit is wéér zo'n autoverhuurder die je probeert grof geld te ontfutselen door bestaande schade in jouw schoenen te schuiven. Dit gebeurt te vaak om toeval te zijn, het is hun beleid. Schandalig.
