I booked a rental through Auto Europe from Chile, selecting the “Zero Excess” policy to ensure full coverage and peace of mind. Unfortunately, the experience has been extremely disappointing and misleading.

After returning the car with a broken window (minor glass damage), Sicily by Car — the local provider — charged my credit card over USD $2,400. When I filed a refund request through Auto Europe, they initially directed me to Car Hire Refunds, who confirmed that the Zero Excess policy applied and that I should be reimbursed.

However, Auto Europe later claimed that glass and tire damage are not included in the Zero Excess coverage, even though these exclusions are not clearly stated in the voucher or booking terms at the time of reservation. Their justification rests on a clause buried in small print that contradicts the very idea of “Zero Excess”.

Even more confusing, Sicily by Car confirmed in writing that Auto Europe was responsible for refunding this damage, and that such coverage was part of my broker policy.

This entire experience shows that Auto Europe's "Zero Excess" offer is not transparent and potentially deceptive. Their communication was slow, inconsistent, and their customer support never provided a clear or fair resolution.

I strongly advise against trusting Auto Europe’s “Zero Excess” policy unless you're prepared to fight a long, frustrating battle over what should have been covered from the start. The "Zero Excess" is not true!!!

All terms and conditions were clear. I liked the selection of cars available at the price point.

The prices fluctuate quite often so I am constantly checking. It is very easy to book a bar at a cheaper rate and then cancel the previous booking. Also, prices here and the availability of insurance make it the.most convenient.
