Blocking me from dealing with my dads estate.

They closed all 3 of our families bank accounts without any explanation. This included my 82 year old father. There was no place to deposit his pension or pay his bills. We were unable to open an account for my Dad at any other bank or Credit Union. Now 2 years later, I had to contact ATB. I reached out to their compliance officer who ignored all of my emails. I had to get my attorney to help! Absolutely horrible staff!

ATB cashed out all my open investments, mature or not , without consent or explantation.. which cost me heavily and will continue to do so in future with the IRS.
They are related to the Ombudsman so contacting THEM was not beneficial. I always thought the Ombudsmn was for the people but not in this case. Another belief down the drain.
I am in my seventies and rather financially ignorant. They have definitely interfered with my life and retirement choices.....RUN FAST AND RUN FAR. Beware....

ATB claim that they listen to their customers...they Do Not! In the last 12 yrs with them they have gone down hill. Push for using your phone for banking and when you need to ask a question or a transaction that the online banking cannot do...your told to go into a branch. When you go into a branch your told to make an appointment!
It has become a joke.

Where I live, there are 2 branches, you will not see the same teller in each visit, poor communication unless it's the 'how did we do' survey.
Which is another joke, the questions are utter nonsense! out of date and do not reflect anything of the experience.
The online site is straight forward to navigate, easy to use but other than that...I am unimpressed.
Wanting to talk to a mortgage rep, was told it will be 2 weeks for an appointment!
Needed to ask about a business account issue, told to make an appointment...Corporate greed, as with most banks...at the expense of its customers.

It is not online, I had a rude CSR on the phone ended up I have to go to a branch, I have no way to get to a branch, I had ATB online working before they changed their app (2024) and my old phone could not run the new app now I have a new phone I am stuck out in the middle of nowhere now.

ATB Advisor Meha Trivedi helped a fraudster to defraud an Edmonton Local Business — Maid to Move Cleaning.

Absolutely ridiculous that atb needs my 35 dollars because accidently made a purchase which was canceled and refunded immediately by the company. Now atb holding funds for over 2 weeks. I wonder how many people they hold funds from and invest it illegally

My dad died in April, I went to close down his cc and bank account in June. I paid the 80.00 owing on overdraft and was told zero owed on the cc and as there has been no cc usage I left. I just got a bill for 235.00? Atb cant help me after an hour trying so here I am calling Atb mc trying to sort this out. Atb was of no help to me so I cut up my card and once this is sorted I will stick with TD from now on.

If i could give them a 0 I would. I have been trying to move my investments out of their back and they are not cooperating. I am into month 4 of my money stuck there. I have asked for a complaint form to no avail.

About three weeks ago, I got a phone call from the one 800 number on the back of my Mastercard that I recently found was a scammer from Qatar. Apparently using artificial intelligence I mistakenly placed my trust in the operator, gave him my code and they took a bunch of money off my Mastercard. When I realize the mistake I made I phoned the bank. That’s when I was told it was a scammer, using a new type of software where they can mimic the banks institution number after I phoned the scam alert division at ATV financial they put through an investigation yesterday I was told because I accidentally gave my code . I’m on my own. I’m not happy about this result and I’m writing this story as I know ATB financial is truly a powerful corporation that does not lose money, but it’s the first time I realize when the bank lady called me yesterday She said it’s my mistake now, I’m on my own. I have to pay Mastercard back even though they could’ve blocked this transaction within one or two days of the scam that I experienced. I’m an old-school gentleman and I will pay this. I’m a little stressed out, but I will survive.
This message is for the management team at ATB financial. I’m gonna tell everybody that’s willing to listen to my story how powerful you people are and when things get tough you are not willing to back me up. I’m not gonna go to another bank, but I am disappointed in the service I recently got. .

I used to be an advocate for this bank, but after multiple bad situations, all regarding fraud and inappropriate responses from ATB staff members; I am now considering moving all of my accounts and money out of their institution. One of their staff members at the Calgary 8th ave location gave away my personal information, ALL of it. And the ATB staff member didn't even feel bad, she tried to act like I was the problem because I did not trust her after she breached my data, but ATB allowed her to keep trying to contact me and stay in communication with me. Now I have experienced a different fraud situation at another branch. I was told my money would be returned, but not a dime has been; I was told they would investigate the fraud, not a peep from ATB on this. In fact, I have had to call them multiple times and make person visits to the branches. I am heavily considering no longer doing any business with this financial institution. Pretty bad when someone that planned on being a lifetime client wants out. Do better ATB.

I spoke to Donny when calling into the ATB customer service and he was very knowledgable about giving me the information I needed to not only set up the right bank account for a community events committee, also giving me further information on how to make an international etransfer using the Global Transfers option. SO appreciated his assistance and knowledge!

I had received exceptional service from Stephanie Law, the clerk at ATB North Hill Branch.
I had brought in a draft and she needed to get it verified by calling the other financial institution so that there would be no holds on my account. The other financial institution gave her such a hard time that she had to call three different phone numbers, and some of those agents on the other line were incredibly uncooperative and created a very hostile environment for what was a basic procedure from Stephanie‘s perspective. Stephanie kept her cool. She didn’t get phased. She went through all the hoops to get connected with someone who could verify the draft. And after 15 minutes she had success. I was so impressed at how she was able to keep cool under what seemed like a really unpleasant situation. Seeing how far she was willing to go to make sure that my banking needs were met showed me that I was a valued customer and that ATB wants my business. I am so impressed with this branch and this bank.

The Teller at the ATB Taradale wrongly deposited our trust cheque back into the same trust account even though the back of the cheque clearly shows the general account where the cheque is supposed to be deposited . While I do understand that these things happen and tellers do make mistakes, it is not up to us, the clients / depositors, to rectify the mistakes they make. For that branch to ask us to re-issue a cheque from trust which the teller deposited to the wrong account is not acceptable as this action will mess up our accounting system / program, not to mention our reporting documentation to our client. The least the bank can do is to resolve the matter without further inconveniencing the client/depositor. This same mistake happened to another law firm about a decade ago at the ATB Centre Street branch. When we caught the mistake, the teller (upon the advisement of their manager) simply applied the necessary solution without inconveniencing us any further and without making such a big fuss about it. The ATB Centre Street branch also provided a written explanation which we were able to send to the Law Society at the time of audit. At ATB Taradale, WE the client / depositor had to come up with the solution. IT IS EVIDENT THAT NO ONE IN THAT BRANCH IS CAPABLE OF PROVIDING BANKING SOLUTION TO ONE SIMPLE PROBLEM

Im a singke father on aish i had 3150 saved up was frauded they cleaned it all out we noticed a transaction so called bank told them cancel cards lick account went to branch next dsy it was all gone they dident do anything then told me my phone must be the cause and they won't refund the money

Do not use this institution. They charge for every transaction AND charge for unlimited transactions. They block transfers at their discretion then lie about blocking the transaction. When confronted they demand details about the purpose of the transaction. Totally criminal organization and will steal every cent as they see fit without allowing you access to your funds. Will not allow me to remove my money from my account. Nearly $10,000 they will not allow me to transfer out of so I can close my account. Worst experience I've ever endured.

Fraudulent transactions on my account will not be returned as a 2 factor verification was used!! FRAUDULENTLY. My credit card was also compromised the same day although different financial Institute and credited back no questions asked. ATB needs to do better on these situations. Basically advised to remove tap off my card and lower limit for online/POS transactions.. ridiculous how we have to do these things just to protect our money. These scammers are ridiculous and we pay the price for it. ATB knows exactly how these things happen yet have no intention of protecting their customer. Was provided some good information from the customer service rep. I spoke with, however it doesn’t solve my problem.
** update - ATB refunded the amount to my account.

Wait online for an hour for the next fellow Albertan, and when they do answer it is, "Hello, this is Grrbdgbetete, can I help you?" My account was compromised and the girl said I had to wait for it to post, but don't worry that they would reverse any NSF fees until then. 16 days later, the fraud charge posted and no one wrote a note about NSF reversal., so they took half my money anyways. ADIOS ATB!!!

I had money in what I thought was a savings account was informed it was in an account that I could not withdraw money the same day so I was told to go home and wait up to 5 days they gave me a phone number to call when I got home i phoned while in the bank and was told if I come in the next afternoon I would get it I waited the day went in and was told I still can’t get the money— the service I got was not helpful as an 83 year old I expect a bank to keep their word it was not huge withdrawal by today’s standard plus it was not going to be given to me in cash but by check which is another 5 days before it would be cleared , even talking with the bank manager I was told to go home and come back tomorrow— so beware of any investment you make with this bank they hold your money hostage plus they lie

Every time when I call them they never listen and start arguing, never help with unknown transaction even I show them proof, They charge me for stop payments but never stop any payment It happens three times
