It's been 2 months since my balloon placement ended and I have to say it's really changed my life. I lost just under 16kg during the 4 months and so far I've kept it all off. Yes, it was sometimes hard as you have to get into new routines and cut out bad habits that can make you put on weight but the nutrition and exercise advice from my clinic was excellent and I found the app helped me to stay motivated. I don't think I could have lost so much weight on my own. I would say this is an excellent option for people who want to lose weight in a 'natural' way without having to resort to surgery. I know it sounds like a cliche but I really do feel like a new person.

I am a nurse and I need to speak out about this, I’ve had patients present to the clinic I work at who have undertaken this procedure in aus in a major city and then work in rural areas and towns and have so many problems, the doctors up here struggle to even know how to manage these patients issues post procedure and all disagree with it or have never heard of it. the 2 patients I’ve personally had have both had multiple admissions to hospital requiring IV hydration and both didn’t have adequate follow up care or even preparation before the treatment. One even said the insertion was so traumatic she avoids thinking about it because she gets flashbacks and has trouble mentally bringing back the memories, watch the videos online of insertion- none of them show the whole procedure from what I’ve managed to find. When going back to their original dr they are told “everyone is different”, In both cases the weight loss hasn’t even been significant and leads me to believe the positive reviews are fake on here? All written relatively well with similar comments..!
I cannot wait until this treatment is banned in Australia because it’s absolutely going to happen! Do NOT waste your money! It has caused both my patients to have significant time off work and mental stress. Once it is in there it’s not easy to fix! Also due to the cost of this procedure (approx 6k aud) your much better to have a gastric sleeve in my opinion I have seen that have a much better impact on patients quality of life.

4 months of heartburn and stomach ulcer creating issues and no weight loss . DO NOT DO THIS ! Total waste of time and money . You will need to be more disciplined that without it.

I am on regular strong pain medication so the first few days of having this balloon were challenging because I vomited after every sip of water and my pain medication would not stay down long enough to work. After 24 hours I was admitted to hospital and given iv fluids and iv pain medication and and after 48 hours of constant vomiting this slowly began to get better. The first few weeks were hard because its a nightmare trying to live on a diet of only fluids and then soft foods however once I noticed the weight coming off this gave me the motivation to continue. After 3 weeks I was able to introduce different foods into my diet and although i could only eat small amounts I didn't feel hungry at all. All of my normal snacking habits had gone and I stopped drinking my usual 3 cans of energy drinks per day . After 5 weeks I was eating normal foods just smaller portions and my snacking had gone completely. I am now at the end of my 16 week journey and I've lost 2 stone 8lb and 2 dress sizes. I could have lost more had been able to exercise however I suffer chronic pain so unfortunately I am limited but I think that having the balloon has been the kick start that was needed and I could not have achieved that much weight loss without it.

I had my Allurion Balloon placement last week in London and I've already lost just over 6 kg. The first 2-3 days were a bit rocky and i had to lie down a lot but after that I felt back to normal just wtih the complete feeling of fullness. Normally I get peckish at work around 3-4 but with the balloon in place and a healthy lunch I don't need to eat between meals. I am looking forward to the next few months with the balloon in place.

It is crucial for individuals to exercise caution before opting for the Allurion procedure. The lack of adequate warning before undergoing the procedure can be concerning. In my experience, I underwent the procedure at 1pm on a Tuesday and by 10pm the same day, I experienced excruciating pain and vomited blood. My condition deteriorated to the point where it became life-threatening, and I had to be rushed to the emergency room. Ultimately, the balloon had to be taken out. Scans showed that the balloon had ripped the lining of my stomach, leading to the bleeding. Considering the size of my stomach, I was not an appropriate candidate for the procedure, and the balloon was too big.

I am currently on Week 13 of the 16 week programme. I honestly cannot recommend it enough. I’ve currently lost nearly 4 and a half stone and I never believed this was possible.
For me, this isn’t a quick fix to lose weight, it completely changes your mentality. I’ve worked really hard with my dietician which has changed my thought process around nutrition. I have also been working with a PT outside the Allurion Programme.
The resources have been there in order to educate and inform me of my bad habits pre-balloon.
I’d tried every other possible solution of weight loss and only managed 1 and a half stone previously before I got bored. Now I am totally focussed on keeping my great habits and mindset even when the balloon deflates.

Unbelievable product my friend Niall used a few months back and has us all convinced. Excited to try.

I had a great experience. The op was set up rapidly, the actual procedure was done in 25 minutes on my lunch break. I lost over 15 kg and have kept most of it off, still very happy with my result. 10/10.

Worse decision of my life, I was in terrible pain AFTER 3-4 DAYS. the doctor at beardswood (BLACKBURN) hospital wouldn't respond to to my calls/email so I had to threaten with the GMC to get a response.

Please guys take my advise the pain once this was inserted was unbearable I requested to have the balloon removed and was told this would be around £3,000 which I couldn't afford so I had to just deal with it.

whilst I had the balloon the only way to relieve the pain was to fill my stomach up with food or milk. this resulted me in putting weight on!

I cannot express enough how horrible this experience was and not having support made it much worse.

Also I tried to put complaint in and there was no where for me to do this along with getting support for after care.

Best decision I have ever made in my life, very happy with the program and the gastric balloon: I lost 12kg! I felt great throughout the program and after 2 months of finishing the program, I stabilized my weight. I loved using the scale, the app (I kept my connected watch instead of the Allurion one).
The gastric balloon was a good help to start my journey, the nutritionist was the good support I needed.

I was reminded by an ad about this company. Their product (gastric balloon) may be ok but their after treatment service certainly is not! I had one about 4 years ago and I thought I was dying! I strongly think they should keep the patient overnight to make sure all is ok! When I discussed with the “nurse” how to remove the balloon as I was feeling so bad, she told me to go to my local hospital and to explain the situation. Things settled so it was not necessary. Nutritional advice was non existent, got a handfilled diet. Never lost any weight. They need to work on their support before and after getting the balloon.

This product seemed perfect for me; not just the balloon itself, but the support plan that comes with it.
The main selling point of the balloon is that it will restrict my intake of food, physically.
This only happened to me in the first week as I felt so sick from the placement.
After that, I didn’t feel any feeling of being full at all. To the point where I questioned if the balloon has deflated. When I questioned this, I was quite shocked when the Dr said that I’d have to pay for a scan to check and that I’m obviously not committed to losing weight.
In the initial consultations I’d had, I explained how much I struggle with over eating. The one thing I asked for as part of the support from the nutritionist was a meal plan. I was told I’d absolutely get this. I didn’t.
The placement of the balloon went well and the doctor and nutritionist really lovely and supportive. That lasted a couple of weeks.
Instead of a meal plan, I was told to eat a more balanced diet. Of course I know this.
I know that my plate should be split between protein, carb and vegetables. I know I need to eat a more balanced diet. I know I need to exercise. I know I need to reduce my portion sizes etc etc etc.
The reason I made the decision to part with £4000 was because I’d tried other things - I’d tried weight watchers, going to the gym etc and I struggled to see results. I had in the past lost 4stone and been really healthy but I couldn’t seem to do that myself again.
As I said earlier, I never had the feeling of being full. I was genuinely told that I would only be able to manage a tablespoon worth of food as I physically wouldn’t have space in my stomach. This really didn’t happen. When I approached the Dr about this, he berated me - he said I was never promised a meal plan and that it was up to me to lose weight. I understand it was up to me but the one thing I explained going into this was that I needed help with portion control and I was sold the product by being told it will make you feel full etc etc.
I would never recommend a gastric balloon and I would never recommend the Dr who sold this to me.
This left me with psychological issues including depression. The nutritionist admitted that I should have been receiving psychological support as well as nurtritional and that that is offered by other partners of Allurion. Why was I not told this?
Lastly, I finally got the ‘full feeling’. I had a starter when eating out and couldn’t physically eat anymore.
When I got home I ended up vomiting and my balloon came out. That confirmed that the balloon was in there the whole time but for some reason, I never felt the effects. If I had felt like I did that night eating the starter, I for sure would have succeeded on this programme.
