Don’t use this company read review

Was using Shell via employer and all was working wonderful, got my payments for electricity I used for the company on time with no issues. 50 five took over and what a mess they charged me subscriptions every month then did not supply me a receipt in order for me to claim back so now I’m out of pocket this is since November. They don’t pay me back every month for electricity I use for work still owed from January. You Send multiple tickets to them in support and they never get back to you every time and when they have it’s been months after the event. At one point they updated the software on my charger and totally crashed it so could not charge at home. Just a complete waste of time don’t go near them.

Installer was professional, tidy work

Installer was very polite and professional. 50five have been fine, they were a little slow at the start once I submited the request so I had to chase them to progress my application but other than that they have been great. Installer did a neat and tidy job.

Completely absent

The migration from Shell Recharge means that Shell no longer provide any support, but I have not received any of the onboarding details from 50Five and therefore have no account.
At the time the migration started my home charger was set to unlocked for the benefit of a visitor and it's remained unlocked ever since as I no longer have any way to control it. This means that in principle anyone could plug into my charger and use it for free.
I raised a ticket with 50Five in early January and have had literally no response beyond the email acknowledging the ticket and discouraging me from raising multiple tickets.
I am thankful that my charger is actually working unlike many others but as far as I can tell 50Five are failing to provide any service to their customers and don't respond to queries.

I have had problems with my charger…

I have had problems with my charger since migrating from Shell. It’s impossible to speak to anyone at Shell and being an older person, it’s very frustrating when the chat bot can’t help. I called 50five and spoke to a very helpful man who knew exactly what the problem was and got my charger working within 10 minutes. He understood my problems with the techy stuff and didn’t make me feel like a nuisance. What a relief to find some proper customer service. A rare thing these days

50Five forgettable

Our charger; as like others went offline. Contacted 50Five support and their response was to turn it off and on again. If this didn’t work they couldn’t do anything except sell us a new one for £1500. A number of emails back and forth failed to assist and just frustrate. Purchased an off the shelf replacement from an independent supplier with a simple app which works perfectly.

This company is absolute shambles and…

This company is absolute shambles and have been since they took over from Shell. Clearly do not have the infrastructure or people resource to deal with any complaints or issues that are coming there way. Partner has called multiple times to try and obtain a fob that I can use with our home charger. Have been passed around, told to raise multiple tickets, it has now been over 4 weeks and I am unable to charge my car at home. I do not see a world, where this issue will be resolved, due to their complete incompetence.

Disaster migration from shell recharge

Disaster migration from shell recharge. Given zero notification from both shell and 50five, found out on the 26th of Jan which was the day my shell charge card stopped working.

5 raised tickets via and AI managed system and all telling me my case has been escalated and still no response for over 2 weeks has left me with a home charger I am unable use. Absolute shambles of a company no one to contact and Shell have wash their hands of all responsibility.

How are these companies allowed to operate like this in 2026 is beyond belief?

Poorly managed transfer from Shell…

Poorly managed transfer from Shell Recharge. The charger (4 years old, one car usage) - was working fine until the transfer - now RED status/unable to charge. All the 50Five registration is done, and app on the phone works, but no charge. Raised a ticket, but they came back to say 'Charger is out of warranty - you can buy a new one from use for £1,499' - outrageous! Shell have shipped/abandoned their customers to a terrible supplier and now cut adrift and at the mercy of a cowboy outfit that is impossible to reach in terms of a human support person. The future is not great for former Shell customers - very poor ethics from both organisations.

Unable to charge since migration from Shell

Unfortunately not able to give 0 starts - the charger has not worked properly since migration from Shell. Now had message to say that my Shell card is disabled and can’t use my own home charger which I have paid for. I can request a new card from 50five but for some reason they want my bank details and to charge me for new card.

Instructions are really confusing and customer service is none existent.

If anybody reading this managed to get any support or answers from 50five would be great to hear as I am now at the end of my tether!

Migrated from Shell. Dreadful experience

Migrated from Shell, my home charger worked probably for a couple of days and then went offline. I opened a ticket on 21.11 and few days later I got a mail recognising that “you’ve been experiencing some issues with your charge point following the migration” (yes… of course… not working at all!!), asking to reset the charge point and to feed back. I did. Nothing. After a week, another mail, identical. I did the same. Nothing. Now radio silence since beginning of December. Called but no indications: “it will take some time to fix, not days but hopefully not months” (sic!).
Dreadful experience, I feel conned by this company and by Shell, too.

This is a disgrace of a company

This is a disgrace of a company. I've migrated from Shell Recharge 2 weeks ago with no notification that this was even happening. On transfer the Shell Recharge app stopped working so I couldn't charge my car from my home charger. I ordered a Shell card in order to start charging my car, now I'm being charged 75p/kw and £55 pre-authorisation each time. This is a Home Advanced 2.0 home charger which I've bought and paid for 4 years ago, I shouldn't be charged anything. Shell say it's not their problem. Contacted 50five now twice by phone and being told the issue is escalated, not a single phone call back in a week, no visibility on what's being done. The call handler said he can't help, has no knowledge and can't put me through to anyone, he could only put details down on the system. The website says you can order a 50five card - there is no link to order one, the chap on the phone said he'd heard of them from people also complaining and had no idea how to get one, nothing on the app to order one. The tariff is set at 0.0p on my 50five app. Called their UK office, told I was No.1 in the queue and then a recorded message to say they were busy and leave a message - not a single response. I've looked at ChargeUK, the UK trade body and they are not part of it. This is costing me a fortune and this rabble don't give a s@*t about their customers.

Unresolved risk- Domestic EV charge point

Our contract for a domestic charge point transferred from Shell. Resulr is a shambles.
Avoid the company!
Does not respond to their "tickets". An example - they created one on 27th October as at 16th Nov - no follow up.
More concerning is the failure to clarify risk or when they will respond to my current problem. Original telephone statement "escalated to second level support".
I have an untethered cable it will not now untether from the charging point. Do not know if it is safe to use. I rang again yesterday response "probably safe" NOT A GREAT COMFORT

Over a week with faulty charger after migration from Shell

I was moved to this company from Shell Recharge. There was no communication to say it had been migrated, so one day the shell app stopped working, I had to quickly get signed up in the new process, only to discover their app doesn't allow remote starting of charging, so already worse than Shell app.
The charger worked a couple of times, then began switching off/on contunally, and not charging the car. Reported over a week ago, one email (that went to spam box) said they reset something and to try again, no change, so still without a charger. Just get told that they are busy after the migration .. which I can believe with how badly it's gone. I'd say shocking, but these days customer service seems to be the lowest priority for companies, so this was expected.

The migration from Shell Recharge

The migration from Shell Recharge gave me hope that the disastrous service received from Shell Recharge would be improved. Early indications after speaking to “Lee” were encouraging - he tried hard to resolve my issues. Under developed software a lack of response to voice mail No answers to on line tickets (their preferred method of response - 152263 & 154713) and a EV charger that has not worked for circa 4 weeks, has convinced me that both organisations are not ready for reliable customer service
Converting data from Shell’s floored data (I have not committed to any subscription but Shell started charging me) Is an error and this inadequacy has me now considering on paying for a replacement business to provide a charger.
Either way this is costing money which 50five seem not to consider when resolving problems. Just not acceptable.
