Never have I used a card system so difficult or experienced customer service so bad for a big company. I have had to have my terminal replaced 9 times in the past 7 months and it still doesn't work. They say it can take up to 20 working days to get a new card machine out to you. PLEASE PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CAN!!!! My store will not allow us another card machine due to the tech we use but my god if they did I'd change immediately, it does not surprise me they had such a low rating!

Verifone informed me that they were going to auto-renew my one-month subscription. I didn't ask for this, didn't want it, and could have easily missed their message. Basically a scam. Apparently, I could cancel this new subscription on-line - I couldn't. Wasted a lot of time going round and around their website looking for this option. Eventually I emailed them, and the only reason this review is two stars and not one is their immediate response saying it was cancelled.

I rated them 3 stars because what happened when I paid for a EASEUS Data Recovery piece of software they charged me twice, they never responded to a complaint set up by Paypal their affiliate company.
I contacted EASEUS directly and at first they wanted me to accept other software I didn't want or need. Then they offered just 50% and then finally the whole amount.
I have posted this because you need to be very aware when companies use intermediaries for payments recovery can be a nightmare. In this case it 6 days to get confirmation they will refund.
Paypal say it could take up to 30 days, blaming my card company.

2Checkout (now Verifone) closed my account without warning or explanation — I never requested the closure, and I did not violate any terms.
Since then, they have been withholding my earned funds for weeks, citing their generic “Deposit” clause. But they have:
Refused to show any evidence of chargebacks or disputes,
Given no clear timeline for returning my money,
And completely ignored my formal requests for a payout or explanation.
This feels like a predatory business practice — they keep your money under vague contract language, don’t respond to support tickets, and seem to rely on small businesses giving up.
I’ve reported this as fraudulent withholding to international consumer protection agencies. If you value transparency, trust, or control over your income, I strongly recommend avoiding this platform.

On call to support to fix issues every other day, takes payments the deny the transaction, constantly needing reboot

I have nearly £5k which is still un-settled after 12 days! The customer support has been absolutely useless. There is no sense of urgency and no one seems to know what the issue actually is. Senior management is uncontactable. To leave a small business without that amount of funds for such a duration is unforgivable. I would strongly advise that people take their business elsewhere.

Avoid Verifone at All Costs – They Destroy Businesses
If you value your business, DO NOT USE VERIFONE. They have completely wrecked mine. Without any valid reason or explanation, they froze my card machines and withheld £14,100 of my funds, leaving my business unable to operate or meet financial obligations.
Despite countless attempts to resolve the issue, their customer service is nonexistent, providing no updates, no timelines, and absolutely no accountability. They have held my money hostage while offering no justification or evidence of wrongdoing.
This is nothing short of unethical. The damage they’ve caused is catastrophic – imagine being unable to process payments or pay suppliers and staff, all because of Verifone’s careless and unjust actions.
Save yourself the stress, financial losses, and sleepless nights. There are plenty of other providers out there who will treat you and your business with respect.
Stay far away from Verifone. They are a nightmare to deal with and will destroy your livelihood without hesitation.

My payment machine isn't working, so I literally cannot take payments. This is the THIRD machine I've had in as many months. They clearly don't test them before sending them...the last one never printed receipts. I made the mistake of requesting a replacement, only to find the replacement doesn't even take payments. Despite repeated calls to customer service to resolve this, all I get is "hopefully someone will come back to you". Hopefully?!?!? Seriously? I can't take payments...and hopefully someone will come back to me? And when? No idea. They're in a different country. Wow.
I can't get a replacement. I can't the software fixed (configuration error). And it's anyone's guess when someone will get around to dealing with the fact that I am unable to take any payments.
I have no words for my experience. It beggars belief.
18 months on and I am delighted
I have used Verifone for 18 months now so I am well placed to give an honest opinion of the service. At first there was a few teething problems when I first received my device but these were sorted quickly and professionally by Senior Customer Service Advisor Dan Dowsett and he kept in touch making sure that everything was in place and working.
Recently I had a query regarding reports and I sent Dan an email and he came right back with an answer. I also had another account query that he had to go back and ask another department which within a few days her personally called me to confirm that it was all in place now. So top notch service as ever.
The settlement is 99% next working day and the fees are taken at source so there is no bill at the end of the month.
Before I moved to Verifone I was paying terminal rental as well as compliance fees as well and minimum billing.
With Verifone there is none of the above. I have a stable card terminal which works well as it should and is pay as I go so any quieter periods there is no worries about minimum billing.

Frustrating and difficult to contact
I was recommended to Verifone by a trader at a show, which I also traded at. He said he would get them to contact me. Two weeks went by with no contact so I went on their website with a view to giving them a call. There is no phone number on there so I filled in a form asking them to contact me. Another week passed so I delved into their website and found a number for customer services who couldn't help me but said she would put me through to sales, who didn't answer. I finally get an email from lauren in sales support with a brochure, but again no phone number, so I answered it with - "Do you not have phones?" She replied to my email, not with a phone number, but saying she would phone me at 2.30pm. No call came, so I gave up and will try elsewhere.
