I made an order online for £30+ got free shipping for 2 books already released and 3 preorders they have shipped the already released books but cancel 1 of my preordered books that comes out this week and have tried to cancel my other 2 preorders and to get them agin I would I have to pay for shipping or do click and collect and I am rather ticked off , this new ownership is terrible used to be so much better . I am only young and a student do better seriously.

I have emailed there team and upon this they have cancelled all my preordered books but there is still a pending charge on my card for the full amount as a student this is completely ridiculous and unacceptable I hope no one else experiences this issue do better I hope you go out of business as a long time loyal customer.

WARNING: Selling damaged/second-hand items as brand new and ignoring customersI purchased a Pokémon Elite Trainer Box from the TG Jones store in Whiteley. Upon arriving home, I discovered the factory seal was slit in two places. This means the product is legally classified as open/second-hand and its integrity is compromised. When I contacted their customer relations team, they initially offered a refund, but as soon as I requested a pristine replacement or voucher compensation (as this stock is expired and I want to keep the box), they completely ignored my emails. Terrible customer service and deceptive trading practices. Avoid this store if you are a collector!

Fran was very helpful when I lost a gift card and arranged for me to have a replacement and cancelled the missing one.

Since WH Smiths was taking over their magazine service has become atrocious.
For example the Oldie magazine for June was due on the shelf last Thursday, but has still not appeared. Also Haunted magazine issue 50 was supposed to be released on 2nd June, but is not there.
The last issue of Fortean times was due on 14th May. There was a special display of this magazine but it was still the previous issue. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that this was not deliberate, hoping that people will not realise.

Wish I had read reviews and never came in that day. It’s clearly not just me she had an issue with vile lady.

Well what an experience, went in and asked for some help, and I’ve never met such a rude manageress!! no people skills what so ever totally rude. The attitude on the lady was horrendous!! and really foul mouthed!! And it’s really shaken me up how I’ve been spoken to. Tg jones should look in to there staff and provide them with basic people skills. I won’t be returning to the Worcester store

I wish I had read the dreadful reviews before placing an order of 3 books for click and collect totalling £25.97.

When checking my online banking not only have TG Jones taken the £25.97 which is showing as pending, they have also taken a further payment of £6.99.

Customer service are denying that they have taken any extra payments and that they will not refund because they have only taken a payment for £6.99 and one for £18.98. They have told me that I will have to contact my bank as they are of the view that they don’t owe a refund.

You have taken an EXTRA and unauthorised additional £6.99 as well as the payment total of £25.97. You cannot confirm to me why you have taken an extra £6.99 and despite me sending a screenshot to show this, you continue to deny taking any other payments.

I will be reporting you for fraud and for taking additional payments from people’s cards when they place an online order.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

UPDATE 02/06/2026 - I have had a response to my review via email in which customer service are saying again that they don’t charge extra payments. YOU TOOK THE FULL £25.97 AND A FURTHER PENDING PAYMENT OF £6.99. I HAVE PROVIDED THE SCREENSHOTS.

Please continue to lie. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM TG JONES AGAIN!

Response to the comment from TG Jones as a result of this review. As I have advised you and provided screenshots you took an additional payment of £6.99 which was pending leaving my account in addition to the full £25.97 for the order.

On this occasion you took payment over and above the total of my order which was £25.97 -£32.96 was pending leaving my account. You can’t and refuse to explain why and I stand by my review. I will not be placing any further orders with TG Jones and I advise others to do the same.

After buying 2 x 100 pounds gift cards,,only one card code redeemed,,nasty attitude on manageress would not refund..she was very aggressive and told me not to shop there again.....scammers..scammers...glad to see they went bust,,they deserve it..

First online order since TG Jones replaced WH Smith and I was abit dubious how good they would be. I needn’t of worried though, customer service replied very quick to a email regarding a pricing query about my order and goods were despatched quickly and arrived all ok. So I would order online again in the future.

I went to the store today to deal with a refund and I heard that the cash registers are giving the in correct pricing in the store to customers and they are not noticing this is happening. This is a comment from the managers in the store.

Drove to pick up pokemon booster boxes i pre ordered today to be told they sold them only given 2 packs waste of my time really really bad form.

Haven’t been in there recently and what a lovely change it made being greeted with a smile and hello from Laura at the till. Certainly brightened my day. I hope the young lady is looked after once you close.

I visited their branch in the Guildhall shopping centre in Exeter at the beginning of April to buy a 30 unlocked data sim card, when I discovered that it did not work an hour and half later. I took it back to the store for a refund. The cluster manageress I spoke frankly did not really want to know about, claiming the contactless payment had gone direct to the mobile operator of the sim card and it was their responsbility. She was totally out of her depth based on her actions or rather lack of them at good customer care.

Telling me there was nothing she could do. Watching her face drain of colour at the mention of referring it to Trading Standards if needed and her change in attitude stating don't get us involved with Trading Standards wonder why?. Especially are the airtime provider confirmed in writing that it was TG Jones resposibilty to process a refund my purchase was in one of their stores.

Overall the staff mostly seem more interested to chatting to each other. no wonder the store always looks empty. However one of the staff advised me to come back in to speak to the store manager who was off that day, which took 3 attempts. He actually was helpful as much a possible even apologising for the total lack of interest and negative attitude by the cluster manager the week before. So he advised me to contact their head office customer services team by email and gave me their email address. However using it only gets the response " this email address does not exisit. Not a surprise really. So asked my bank to start a dispute claim, today they have informed me that despite the clear evidence on the TG Jones sales receipt , TG Jones head office complaints team have rejected the dispute. Their head office customer services are just as poor as well!

Best advice I could give anyone is don't use them after all there other far better book shops and stationary stores. Thank goodness the railway stations and airport oulets are still run by WH Smiths

Absolutely disgusting! Looks like a trash and overpriced. A very simple birthday card, it cost me £4, normal price for this type of cards are between £1.50-£2. I was in shock, and later regretted I pay for it! I feel I have been robbed!

So “beam me up snotty with the women wearing the TGjones t-shirt in Bury St Edmund’s that says she don’t work for TGjones need to get her attitude in check I don’t care what sort of day you’ve had it’s not our fault you can behave properly behind a counter!!! And I don’t care what sort of day you’re having but when you serve the General Public we don’t want to see a snotty attitude and a tone of voice that’s in the toilet!

New name same old rubbish being sold, it just falls to pieces, they have ZERO quality control and the prices you pay for cheap and nasty Chinese rubbish, is a joke! I bought a stapler and it fell to pieces as I opened the packet, now I have to go all the way back to Westfield over a stapler. Don't take any more risks with this facade of a 'new' company

Those leaving views about post offices they are not owned by tgjones it's a completely separate business so if your experiencing queues bad customer service or anything else regarding them its post office not tgjones also dhl isn't tgjones if it's down it's not tg jones fault it's dhl

Theres a lovely lady that works her and helps any one that asks . I think she is the manger if she isn't she should be . She always seems to be running around helping ppl think her names Sarah blonde hair .works really hard to help keep the good work up

I'm not surprised to see so many negative reviews here. Following my own dismal experience with the retail staff at their Guildford store and the poor state of the shop in general, I took the time to write an email of complaint to their customer service department. Unsurprisingly I suppose, they have not even acknowledged receipt of my email and certainly not replied. Guess that's that then, what a garbage shop!
