Spinnakers do not make it clear before or when you are purchasing from them that should you wish to return your item you will lose a significant amount of money in the duties and taxes that will not be recovered.

We would, however, like to clarify that our policy regarding customs duties and taxes is clearly and transparently stated on our website and within our Return Policy, both of which are available to customers to consult at any time before placing an order and throughout the purchasing process. We also specifically remind customers, when a return request is submitted, that customs duties and taxes are non-refundable.
Unfortunately, these charges are not fees retained by Spinnaker. They are amounts collected by the customs authorities of the destination country, and once paid, they are not refunded by the relevant customs authority in the event that the merchandise is subsequently returned.
The same principle would apply if duties and taxes had been paid directly to the courier prior to delivery: in that case as well, these amounts would not be recoverable.
We fully understand that having to bear these costs can be frustrating, but this is unfortunately a matter determined by the customs regulations and procedures of the destination country and is therefore beyond our control.
We always strive to provide our customers with clear information before purchase and throughout the return process, precisely to ensure that there are no unexpected costs or conditions.
With this in mind, we would kindly invite you to reconsider your review, as the customs charges in question are not a cost or policy determined by Spinnaker. We would be grateful if you could instead direct any concerns regarding the non-refundability of these charges to the relevant customs authorities in your country, which are responsible for applying and retaining them.
