Contemptuous Customer Service
I’d complain about Sainsbury’s customer service, but you can’t criticise something that doesn’t exist. Sending them a message is like throwing paper into an incinerator - no acknowledgement, no reply, just utter disdain for their customers. Time to vote with my wallet. "Hey Google, find me the nearest Waitrose."
SHAMBOLIC
Shame there isn't a minus stars available because that's exactly what I'd have given it!
We went to Carlisle shop today and visited their shiny new cafe, how I regret that decision!
First issue was the ordering of food which is done on a small screen tucked into a corner, (no advise as to how it worked anywhere) so, couple in front of us were slowly trying to fathom their way around the screens, eventually they placed an order and the fiasco began. Special of the day: curry & rice .... not available despite it only being 12.40.
Had to go and request the table was wiped due to the spilt mess and crumbs over it.
Coffee ; ordered the regular size, result was a massive mug suitable for a navvies which I could barely lift due to arthritic hands.
After 30 minutes waiting we went to counter to request our meals only to be told there was a delay. ... God only knows why because there was barely more than a dozen people sitting there, most having drinks and cake, which was on a special price. Assistant brought our coffees and apologised for the delay, offered us 2 free drinks or 2 desserts both of which we declined, we just wanted our dinner!
40 minutes in we were informed our food was on its way, be with us imminently..... 5 minutes later a meal did come out, it was for a man who'd arrived after us!
55 minutes in we gave up and requested our money back at which point they told us it was just being plated up. We no longer wanted it, even though it was offered us for free or as a take away by the manageress .
Never have I come across such appallingly incompetence before, several people were turned away from even getting a cup of coffee or tea, despite the fact it was only around 1pm because the staff couldn't cope!
This place is an utter shambles, deserves to fail. Definitely not a place I'll be bothering to waste my time visiting again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.
Disgraceful customer service
Customer service department is a disgrace. They will not respond to complaints. Is this company policy or an extremely lazy department?
Selfish parking at Central Milton Keynes Sainsburys car park
Central Milton Keynes branch underground parking . Went back to my car, parked in a disabled bay, to find a large taxi blocking my car and the car next to me. The customer put her shopping in then wandered off to have a conversation with someone else . Meanwhile we’re still stuck with the taxi blocking us. I eventually got out and asked him to move and he yelled at me accusing me of shouting at him, which I didn’t . Why are taxis allowed down there anyway? Customers are usually picked up outside the main doors where there is a bay. Why on earth are they allowed to block disabled parking ,or indeed any parking , down there. Absolutely no need to be down there at all. Of course there are no staff to ask for help. A single car stopped down there blocks everyone’s access to parking and to exit. Very selfish and particularly difficult for your disabled customers . With Christmas coming up this is bound to get worse
TTD Modern Indian 2 sides and 2 mains…
TTD Modern Indian 2 sides and 2 mains £15 with Nectar. Lobster Mac & Moxzarella Bites. Says 12% crustacean. My product I couldn't taste any lobster, just tasted of fried breadcrumbs and cheese. Terrible.
I also had the spiced coconut fish curry (hake) I love fish and have had their other hake products and they've been fine. This one tasted very fishy which indicates the fish wasn't as fresh as it should have been when prepared.
All very disappointing given the fanfare re this new range. I'm now dreading tasting the other products I purchased
Sainsburys Fulham Broadway
Sainsburys Fulham Broadway, was awful to shop at. The staff are clueless as well as the manager. They had products on the shelves that when scanned give you a message that it cannot be sold. Why are they found on the shelves in the first place and why does the manager lie about that they were at the back???
Smart shop- not really
Smart shop- they offer you rewards and these aren’t picked up on the handset. I had various offers in wine, dog food and breadcrumbs but all that showed up was points for amount spent on shopping. I will go to Tescos in future.
When you call customer services it is minefield of menus to frustrate and delay. To make matters worse you speak to somebody and they can’t make the adjustment - no wonder the ratings are poor!
Sainsburys Selly Oak
Supermarket very good with lots of vegan organic gluten free options
Cafe woeful very small vegan selection staff thought vegan was an allergy
Toilets appalling
Tasteless rubbish
I wish to immediately state that the reason I have rated Sainsbury’s, WELLESBOURNE on this occasion is because I was in the store recently and remarked to a member of staff about a negative purchase of Water Melon I had experienced earlier only to be distinctly convinced she was not interested! Today came the proof. I thought it would be a change to have two types of melon 🍉 for a dessert. Wrong! Today I purchased two prepared and prepackaged varieties of melon. I.e. water melon and honeydew melon. Sainsbury’s your quality of melons is only superseded by the extremely poor quality of customer service! It’s rightly called “watermelon” because that is all it was. Coloured water and the honeydew was equally tasteless rubbish!
Very wary of shopping here again
I used to shop at sainsburys all the time but prices were not very competitive however niw they are thought I would try again
Ordered a delivery apparently my rd closed ( it wasnt) no delivery so much hassle bad customer service Rude and wrong items delivered worst ever
It Is All Wrong!
What hasn't ever gone wrong? Sainsbury's High Wycombe, used to be our 'go-to' supermarket but the level of service, closed tills and improperly labelled items on display, have cost them our custom. When 'someting wrong' is highlighted to the manager, nothing gets done and the same problem is there on your next visit. The lack of willingness to assist a customer who asks you a simply question, the lack of speed in working things out for the customer and the general shabbiness, is just not how we want to do our shop.
Shambles or Sainsburys?
Most Sainsburys are well run but I have to single out a particularly bad store. That is Chadwell Heath in East London. It was such a horrendous store I was actually laughing in the gigantic self service queue that everybody gets into whether you have one item or a weeks shopping. Most of the clientele can’t be bothered to use the scanners so queues build up. But at the sides of the queues are open food wrappers and opened drinks bottles that people have been consuming while they wait ,along with dozens of random items that are left on the wrong shelves. This store has to be seen to be believed. Food is dumped everywhere and not properly stacked and the few staff that are around appear to be hugely overworked. If you are thinking of shopping here , be warned, it’s not the pleasant experience I would expect from this supermarket.
Attempted to check out at self service…
Attempted to check out at self service at Liphook this morning at 08:30, scanner wasn't working properly, no staff to be seen. I had to walk to a shelf packer to find someone to assist. When this young boy arrived a few minutes later I asked why does this take so long, he commented 'we were helping other customers', when i said this is supposed to be quicker than the cashier service, he again replied with 'we were helping other customers' no apology for keeping me waiting, just his arrogant stinking attitude.
Terrible outsourced customer services
Seem to have outsourced customer services overseas. Used Facebook messenger but the person at the other end just kept robbing me off with ambiguous responses. My order for delivery had been cancelled but they still have my money and no one seems to know or care when I might get it back p!
Disappointing feedback opportunity
I would like to have an opportunity to leave feedback to Sainsbury's on specific items instead of a tick box exercise in a "lettuce -know" survey.
Basically, changes in product quality and a lack of certain lines which have been unavailable for weeks in at least 3 stores in Hampshire.
Went to Sainsburys in Winnersh
Went to Sainsburys in Winnersh. Got over charged for item. Women at the till was rude and no customer services skills. They offer to send me £2 in the post. Keep it Sainsburys it will cost you more in postage.
Absolutely disgraceful service from Sainsbury’s. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever experienced such a complete lack of care for a customer.
My order was booked for delivery between 9:30–10:30pm. At 10:30pm, I called because my groceries were nowhere to be seen. I was told the driver was running an hour late. No one told me or informed me! I had already wasted my evening waiting for an order that never arrived.
So I rearranged the delivery for the following day between 4:30–5:30pmbfor the following day because there was no hope of the order arriving despite me staying up until mid night! During this call I asked to speak to a manager. I was told, very clearly, that the manager would call me back within 5 minutes.
Guess what?
No call.
So I called back at 10:55pm. This time I was told the manager wasn’t available, they were about to close and — unbelievably — my order had been CANCELLED.
Let that sink in.
After making me wait.
After giving me a delivery slot.
After making me rearrange my plans.
After telling me a manager would call me back.
After leaving me chasing YOUR company for answers.
You simply cancelled my order.
And nobody thought it necessary to properly inform me.
These groceries were also supposed to be used for my children’s lunch the following day. Because Sainsbury’s failed to deliver and then cancelled the order without properly notifying me, I was left without the food I had specifically bought for them. This wasn’t just an inconvenience — it directly affected my children and left me scrambling to make alternative arrangements at the last minute.
The attitude was absolutely disgusting. There appeared to be more concern about staff finishing their shifts and the shop closing than there was about a customer who had been left without groceries — including food intended for their children.
Your shift ending is not my problem. Your closing time is not my problem. Your failure to organise deliveries is not my problem.
I am the customer. I paid you. I made myself available. You failed to deliver.
And let’s not forget the substitutions. I was being charged more for substituted items than I had originally agreed to pay. Apparently I would receive a voucher to compensate.
No.
I didn’t ask for a voucher. I didn’t order a voucher. I ordered groceries. I paid for specific items. If Sainsbury’s can’t fulfil an order properly, that’s your failure to fix — not mine to accept.
What makes this particularly infuriating is that there was zero ownership. Nobody seemed prepared to say, “We’ve messed this up, and we’re going to fix it.”
Instead, I got excuses, broken promises, no manager call and ultimately a cancelled order.
I’ve had bad experiences with Sainsbury’s before, but this one is in a league of its own.
This wasn’t just a late delivery.
It was a complete failure of communication, accountability, organisation and basic respect for the customer — made even worse by the fact that the order contained food needed for my children’s lunch the next day.
Sainsbury’s clearly has no problem taking customers’ money. Perhaps it should put the same level of effort into actually delivering what customers have paid for.
You wasted my time, ignored my complaint, broke your promise to call me back, cancelled my order without properly dealing with me, left me without food for my children’s lunch, and then effectively shrugged your shoulders because you were closing.
That isn’t customer service. That’s contempt for your customers.
Do better. Because this was absolutely pathetic.
Shame on you, Sainsbury’s.

South Woodham Ferrers store.

Very disappointing and distressing…
Very disappointing and distressing experience at Sainsbury’s London Paddington on 2 September 2026.
I paid for my items at the self-service checkout using Apple Pay, but as I was rushing to catch my train, a staff member named Bharath stopped me at the exit and publicly accused me of stealing.
I immediately explained that I had paid and showed him my Apple Pay transaction as proof. Despite this, he continued shouting at me and behaved aggressively, even after I repeatedly asked him to stop.
Being publicly accused of theft despite having paid was humiliating, intimidating and completely unacceptable. I have submitted a formal complaint requesting that Sainsbury’s investigate the incident, review the CCTV and payment records, address the staff member’s conduct, and consider my concerns regarding potential discriminatory treatment and compensation.
I expect Sainsbury’s to take this matter seriously and provide an appropriate response.
