Upon my arrival there were two female employees discussing non-work-related matters and barely greeted me. They continued with their unprofessional discussion and tried getting my information between their sentences! That’s beyond rude and completely unprofessional! Furthermore, unsettling for a first time visit for a very sensitive healthcare concern.
The conditions at the clinic were equally disturbing. There was a dirty towel on the exam table, bugs crawling on the floor, and spiders descending from the ceiling. This kind of environment is unacceptable for any medical facility, let alone a place that is supposed to care for animals.
The behavior of the staff and doctor suggested that they might have been under the influence of substances. This is an incredibly serious issue that raises significant concerns about the safety and well-being of the animals in their care.
To make matters worse, the doctor appeared both incompetent and unwilling to provide proper care. Despite my repeated requests, the doctor refused to drain my dog’s anal gland abscess and instead instructed me to allow it to rupture on its own. This advice was not only negligent but also dangerous for my pet’s health.
Moreover, despite this being my first visit and presenting a “First Exam Free” coupon, the clinic did not honor it. This was a clear breach of their advertised promotion and added to the overall negative experience.
I strongly urge anyone bringing their pets to this location to reconsider as the health and safety of your pets are at serious risk at this establishment.

The Petco grooming is so nasty and rude at the Forestville store. The clients/customers are treated like trash. I have file reports on the grooming department 2 time for poor customers service.
THEFT, DECEPTION, MISLEADING
The order I placed was unsuccessful in processing on their website, considering the offered delivery time which I chose was no longer available despite it being offered. I was suggested to retry the order again & choose a different time. I cannot do this however, considering Apple Cash already took the money for the item & gave to Petco, the transaction has cleared in my Apple wallet with a transaction ID. Petco, however, has no record of this transaction or order within my account or within their data. They advised me to contact Apple Cash for a charge reversal, which I just reported Via Apple Cash process with a concluded message saying that my input is appreciated as feedback, rather than my request for a refund being addressed. As far as I’m concerned, Petco has stolen my money from me & is refusing to give it back, suggesting I contact Apple- the middleman- to get my money back from Petco. The fact their system offered me a delivery time that no longer was available when I go to check out, indicates a fault of Petco that they are not taking accountability for, making more work for myself & Apple because of their mistake. Nowhere does it disclose that if you use Apple Pay/Apple Cash, that you are not eligible for a refund for any reason whatsoever, but rather, you have to file a complaint with the third-party payment processor to get a charge reversed, basically disputing it. Misleading payment information. Misleading delivery information. I will never shop here again for any reason at all. They could be giving away free items & I’m not going to buy into it whatsoever, For all I know, the product was stolen. If they steal people’s money, I would imagine they also steal people’s products. So now I have to get back to contacting Apple- through whichever department- to file a dispute to get my money back, because they offered a delivery time that wasn’t actually available. So let me go spend more of my time dealing with their ridiculousness In which I’m likely having to wait 5 to 7 business days to get my money back. So now my cat has to wait another week to get cat litter. Thanks for the unnecessary & additional challenge in my life. Could your business operation & customer service be any worse? You lost a frequent customer to your competitors, likely PetSmart & Chewy. Congratulations.

Such a Horrible experience today July 3, 2024 regarding my pets care. The general manager Lupe had no regards to the grooming concerns my pet experienced and had the audacity to shift blame after looking at the cuts and abrasions on my pet after receiving her grooming services
There was No apology or sense of empathy overall
She repeatedly stated they have cameras and she did not see this occur...well how did it not occur?!!
Are you saying I am lying, exaggerating my pets obvious cuts and abrasions?
The groomer called me to pick her up knowing what happened during thr grooming and did not mention a word nor take ownership.
Lupe was cold and dismissive of my concerns overall
I was only refunded HALF of my total payment and given a wound care spray for her abrasions and cuts
I wish I could show the pictures however this review site will not allow it
For all the pet owners we know our pets do not have a voice especially when in harm
It is unbelievable to think a pet store would not engage in better treatment of their OWNERS whom are attempting to make it right

I came to this page JUST TO SEE THE REVIEWS and to see if it was the same I was feeling!! HORRIBLE WEBSITE!! I’ve been spending good money for years here, and orders have been getting cancelled left & right. No explanation given either, just offers to reorder for me on the agents side!! What happen to same day delivery, same day pickup. And when I attempt to do same day pickup, they system doesn’t allow me for in stock availability issues, but when I go to the actual store, it’s sitting right on the shelf. Petco forces me to go shop elsewhere 🤦🏽♀️
THIEVES!
I tried to purchase an e-collar for my dog online. Because the dog just had surgery I asked for curbside pickup. I didn't receive an email confirmation so called the local store. They never received the order. I called Customer Service and they stated they never received the online order-despite the fact that my card was charged for it and was in a pending status. The CNS clone stated the charge would "fall off" when the corresponding order didn't exist. I then went to Petco locally (with surgical patient in tow) and purchased the same collar. Fast forward 8 days, and a second charge shows up on my card-for the pending charge that Petco CS never canceled. Same exact amount, 8 days apart. I only have 1 collar. Called CS again, sat on hold, then was told a supervisor would call me back within 48 hours.
Called my bank and put the charge in dispute. That, along with vowing never to shop with Petco again, solved my problem. I'm posting this to hopefully save someone else the aggravation.

Petco has partnered with Nationwide Pet. Nationwide Pet is dropping over a hundred thousand policies leaving pets with no insurance, preexisting conditions, higher out of pocket expenses. My girl was dropped, she's 8 years old. Nationwide Pet told me they were no longer covering pets 8 years and older for illnesses! We have had her Whole Pet with Wellness policy since she was 8 weeks old. If Petco wants to partner with Nationwide Pet, I will no longer be shopping there. There is a boycott coming from all Nationwide Pet owners who had their policies dropped.
2 years ago I signed up a membership…
2 years ago I signed up a membership and since then I pay $19.95 per month for nothing. i wasn't satisfied with the service at Petco on Commercial Blvd/Dixi Highway in Fort Lauderdale and try to cancel my membership since 2023. I called the phone # they gave me to cancel, but PETCO didn't let me cancel, because they said the membership is for 1 year, but when it expires after 12 months, they don't charge me anymore. Guess what, they still charge me every month, today I called again, and costumer service hang up on me. Never ever I will go in any Petco store, I have 1 dog and 5 cats to take care off, but they lost me as a customer
Rude Canandaigua Petco groomer
I took my standard poodle in for a full groom. I was told by the groomer(Michelle), she would take her time as this was her 1st full groom. About 10-15 minutes later I received a call from her. She waited to let me know my dog would need to be shaved down. I began asking questions to including asking if this was because she was inexperienced, she handed the phone to another groomer.
Name- I can’t not remember! This girl was very rude and Condescending! I told her I would return to pick up by dog, after she stated my dog would need to shaved down to her skin- she would have NO HAIR!! She ended the call saying “Good Luck finding a groomer”, in the most rude way possible!! Once I was able to collect myself after this interaction with this person, I did called the Canandaigua location asked to speak to a manager. I shared my experience and assured him that I was in route to retrieve my dog told him I would never step foot in another Petco store again or make any purchases. He apologized for my experience and ask me to get to the store as quickly as possible to get my dog.
I called a private groomer, explained my Petco experience. She had me bring my dog in the next day to be groomed. I did just that! My dog’s professional groom went wonderful and I could not be more pleased with the outcome.
So to RUDE Petco Girl- I FOUND A GROOMER!! PS: My dog still has a full body of hair!!

Dog hair cut
2 weeks ago i brought my dog in for a second grooming. They still didn't give her a cut because they didn't think she was ready and didn't want to traumatize her. Today they had to shave her because she got some mats. Tell me how shaving her 2 weeks later was less traumatic??? I asked for a haircut 2 weeks ago and they only gave her a bath and a puppy cut. If they aren't capable of doing the job i asked for they should have gave her back and not done have the job.

On 6/7/2024 I visited Petco in Waltham Massachusetts located in Linden Plaza. I never expected to find what I saw. One bird was so depressed and sad. He just stood on a ladder holding his head down looking like he was ashamed or possibly traumatized. Another bird above him was hitting its head up against the cage. I stood there for more than 3 min and these birds all showed signs of mental health distress. I was floored especially since the store had price tags of close to a thousand dollars for these birds. Also this is genuinely animal abuse and neglect to allow these birds to become sick in capacity. I recorded these birds to show the public what they are going through. I have video and will post somewhere that will allow me to post I can not find a way to attach video here. Petco SHAME on you! I wish I could do more to help these creatures that are trapped in this store.
10/08/23 Get what you get
10/08/23/ I took my two adult dogs in for exam, nail trimming, shots and take home
Sumparica trio meds. for both. 328.00 each day of service. Fast forward to yesterday 6/10/24 I went on line and tried to get their prescriptions refilled/ordered.
One dogs meds were approved and in the cart the other had no record. Actually the October visit was missing from my history All together. Very strange.
So I called Vetco was transferred to Petco and after much discussion they agreed to send me both dogs meds.
414.00 for six months RX for 2, (12 pills in all) Not cheap.
Later yesterday I get an email saying only one RX will be filled as they can’t find the other RX. Really? PITAS’S
Original problem not taken care of.
I have both receipts for the October visit mind you totally just under 700.00.
Yet they couldn’t pull up the info?
This isn’t right. They are shipping one 6 month supply of the meds at 197.00.
But are ripping me off for the other dogs RX.
I’ll need to take the dogs somewhere three months earlier than scheduled because they can’t find the prescription although I have all info, receipts, vets name and signature that saw us at the store the day of visit.
I offered to email the info but they weren’t interested.
So no more Petco/Vetco store clinics for me and my pups. It’s a scam and the customer service is the worst. One last detail. My receipts say Vetco and the store is Petco. When I called the Vetco number from the receipt the person found both dogs visit but needed to connect me to Petco to correct the issue. I can see it but I can’t correct it-right..
That’s where things went sideway. Petco couldn’t find my records even with the receipt and transaction info. Vetco, Petco, really???
I say no thank you. I thought I was saving time and money by going in to the store for care. Not at all. The vet did tell me that one of my dogs had a tick born illness after testing but wasn’t allowed to write an RX for the antibiotic he needed and suggested taking him to a stand alone vet? Really? Isn’t that what I came here for-I guess not.
This is the Hurstbourne Lane store in Louisville, KY. I would include the vets name but feel that would be unkind.

A few months ago I took my small dog to Petco grooming in Hilo and was very pleased with his hair cut. Today I took him for another haircut and whoever cut his hair didn’t know what they were doing. I was very disappointed for paying over $80. If you’re not sure how to cut a dogs hair, look it up online. Not good business.

I ordered some grass seed litter and threw in a bag of parakeet seeds to get free shipping. Low and below, they were out of grass seed litter -a fairly chronic situation-, delivered my bird seeds -with shipping included-, doubling the price of the seeds! When I reported it to “customer service”, the woman hung up on me even before I finished explaining the situation.

Understanding staff , Remorseful retrun
On May 28, I walked into Petco to buy a few fish and an aquarium for my grandchild, My customer experience was beyond amazing. I was waited on by Jay in the fish dept. He explained the task of setting up the aquarium and I asked a lot of questions. He was patient to intelligently answer them all . i was very impressed by all of his knowledge. I bought the kit which included the 10 gallon tank, heater, filter, net, water balancer etc. I got home, and got help setting it all up . I ran the tank for the 24 hours. The next day I returned to buy 4 fish. Again Jay gave instructions how to introduce the fish to their new home. Everything went fine until the next morning. I looked in the tank and 2 of the fish were barely moving and the other two were hiding behind the filter. The light on the heater was not on and i discovered that the heater was defective. I rushed back to the store and they tested the heater and sure enough it was defective . I was given an even exchange for another one. When i got home I only saw 3 fish in the tank barely moving . Where was the fourth ? I looked at the filter and the poor thing had been sucked up into the filter. I freaked !!. I cried ! and i had had enough . Why was there not a screen on the vaccum part of that heater,? I think Petco should pull those kits off their inventory for review. They are defective. !!!! . That day i dismantled everything and went back to the store remorsefully to return it all. i am sorry but having fish will not be my new hobby at 65 years old. I want to say Thankyou to the staff for their understanding when i returned everything. I m so sorry but i continue to patron Petco regularly for my 100 pound dog. Ill stick to mammals.
We absolutely love Petco
We absolutely love Petco! We take both of our Bichon Frises there for grooming and they ALWAYS are treated extremely well and look amazing upon their return! We quit Petsmart when they refused to let us see the ‘back room’ where they keep the animals. That was a game changer and we could not be more pleased.
