These people make turning down a legitimate claim signed off by a vet into an art form. Their whole set up is to avoid pay out. They are cheaper than most but in future I would rather pay a higher premium to secure a better service

Rang to cancel pet insurance renewal, chatted about my renewal offer and comparison quotes for switching. I have been a customer with Perfect Pet since 2018, paying £75 per month. Unfortunately, after submitting a claim recently, I am extremely disappointed with how it was handled.

Earlier this year, my dog developed a new lump on her ear. I had it sent to the lab for testing (costing £245) to ensure it wasn't serious. Thankfully, the results came back clear. However, when I submitted the claim to Perfect Pet, it was rejected.

The Reason Given:
The claim was denied because of vet records dating back to 2016 (ten years ago), prior to joining this policy. At that time, I had casually mentioned two minor issues to the vet during a routine check-up:

A suspected tick bite

A small lump on a completely different part of her body

Because those minor lumps from 10 years ago were not sent to a lab at the time, even though both resolved on their own and disappeared long ago, Perfect Pet deemed this new, unrelated ear lump a "pre-existing condition."

Summary & Warning to Other Pet Owners:
If your dog has regular routine check-ups, be aware that any casual mention of a bump, spot, or bite will be logged on their medical record. Perfect Pet appears to use these historical notes,no matter how old or unrelated,as a reason to avoid paying out valid claims.

Paying £900 a year for insurance only to have a £245 claim rejected over a 10-year-old vet note is extremely frustrating. I would advise prospective customers to carefully consider how strictly this company interprets pre-existing conditions before signing up.

Really easy and efficient customer service. I called with a query about my renewal and it was dealt with straight away, with no hassle or lengthy back-and-forth. So being a customer for some considerable time. I really did think your name was upheld in my insurance needs. The level of helpful and understanding when my dog needed treatment from the vets and payment up front was required from the vets . You gave great help and willingness to go above and beyond to help me I gave you great reviews and was very happy being a customer of yours. This has now been outdone and valued appreciation in one photo call. My pet Bear passed away on 10-08-2026 I was and still am devastated and upset. However all this previous good will was not continued after my vet passed. The threat of my whole premiums forced on me when I recently renewed would be all owed for the entire new year plus an extra £90. Totalling around £470. All I wanted was help with the euthanasia and my dog’s ashes. My vet was charging £327 for it all. I was told if I claimed it would only cover the euthanasia, and if I did claim I would need to pay my years premium plus £90 liable at claim. I feel I was forced on the conversation to cancel the policy as stated it would then not cost me anything. Otherwise it would be expensive. I am disgusted and won’t be recommending any more friends . Infact I will tell them to avoid you all completely. Absolutely no care or compassion. Just threats of premiums owed if I claimed. This was the bereavement team as well. Some Bereavement department you are😡😡😡 please please stay clear!! They let you down at the hardest point of the policy. So so disappointing from them.

Robyn and Flo are very friendly and answered my questions promptly about the claim. This is the first time doing claims I found the process easy but one thing need to improve is update the customer with status of the claim, after 3 weeks sent the claim I discovered that my vet sent email for the wrong one and I need to chased them and I just discovered this after call Perfect Pet. If we have access this on the website make things easier and avoid calls.
